I wear progressive lenses and selected a frame that I loved. When they arrived, I couldn't get comfortable with the near vision and had distortion to the sides. I took them back to a different store (seaport) where they advised me that the lens were too large and knew exactly the issues I was having with the near vision. They suggested a smaller lens and frame which I swapped in to. Much happier now. I am writing this to alert those with progressives that you may want to ASK about the lens size as I wasn't given this advice by the associate and optitrician at the Newbury store and ended up with a frame that wasn't good for progressive lens wearers. read more

The first time I came here was when Warby Parker was still new to Boston. I was looking for a cheaper alternative to expensive LensCrafters. Warby Parker delivered. I got a pair of stylish glasses for about a third of the price I paid at LensCrafters at the time. The Newbury St store has a stylish, minimalist design. There's no tacky promo signs like other places(cough LensCrafters cough) and there's not a whole lot of room. I was there on a Saturday afternoon and it was somewhat difficult to move around. I was at the store today. The store is good, the staff is smart and helpful, their optometrist is very competent. The only thing that I did not like was about directions and signs when you enter the building. The sign pointing to the elevator almost looks like the optometrist is on the 4th floor. Once you get to the 4' floor (as I did) you find that it is not the right floor. At the entrance a light blue sign on the floor (and leaning against the wall) reads :" Glasses ! Sunglasses ! Eye exams!" and shows an arrow. Problem is that the arrow points to the exit door onto the street. Removing that sign would be better than keeping it that way. I think that such a good store should pay more attention to such details, considering their customers may even have vision problems, given the type of business they run. Finally: store and doctor office are good, clean and good looking. The entrance on the first floor from the street is not really well inviting and is not really good smelling. A Warby Parker store with such a good staff deserves better, as well as customers deserve. read more

(Which I've done 3x, and I've only ordered 1 pair of glasses, so you don't get charged for trying on many different sets.) 5) THEY ARE CHEAP. $95/pair? Also, I am horrifically blind (like, only can see blurry shapes when I don't wear glasses), and they only added $35 to the processing to upgrade the lenses so that they worked with my strong prescription. You don't have to point at something and wait for a sales person to get it for you. 3) There were a lot of sales people in the store when I went... maybe 5? 4) It looks like there is a dedicated optometrist in the store that has her own office for eye appointments. 5) I stopped in to get my WP glasses adjusted (it's been about a year), and the were quick, efficient, and friendly. Cons of the WP shop in Boston: 1) It's on the second floor through an entryway next to Georgetown Cupcakes. They have to post a WP sales person at the front door to wave people in...I would have had a hard time finding it if the cupcake line was in front of the door. 2) It was pretty hot in the store...but honestly, it was probably because it was the first really warm day in Boston and there were SO MANY PEOPLE THERE! (Which is awesome because I want other people to love Warby Parker, too.) That's pretty much it. I saw people of all ages in the shop--while my glasses were being tightened, there was an older couple trying on a bunch of glasses, and they were adorable. Found a fantastic pair of prescription glasses in whiskey brown tortoise-shell color called the Benson. Staff is super-friendly, prompt and helpful. I was able to get an exam with Dr. Stacy Coen and I must say that of all the eye and contact lens exams I have gotten over the last 23 years, my experience with Dr. Coen has got to be one of the most thorough, meticulous and transparent exams. Jimmie was super nice and helpful and assisted in finding me a pair of glasses that didn't make me cry or hate myself. I consider this a major success!!!! He was efficient and knew which shape worked for my face and which didn't, and also found a color that complimented my eyes without making my already Irish-red skin more noticeable. Due to the pandemic Warby Parker has seen some delays in shipping out frames via their in-home try-on service. Their online customer service people notified me that it would be a few days before my frames would go out the door (most likely due to the need to sanitize recently returned frames) and they were very accommodating about suggesting alternatives, including checking the inventory at their local shops in the event I wanted to try on the frames at one of their locations. I'm so glad I did, as I wound up finding a frame that I hadn't seen online that wound up being my favorite, by far. I received excellent, thoughtful customer service during my Monday visit from an employee who is clearly enthusiastic about the company. They are taking appropriate COVID precautions, including asking patrons to use hand sanitizer prior to touching any of the merchandise. And they ask you to place any frames you try on in a special tray so that they can be sanitized prior to going back out on the floor. The nuts and bolts of the transaction--including recording my prescription--took place via an employee-facing version of the app. I got an email less than a day later telling me that my glasses were ready to be shipped. Fast forward--they were in my mailbox by that Saturday. I couldn't be more pleased! read more

After getting terrible service from LensCrafters I decided to come here and see if I could get any actual help. I was in search of my first pair of glasses. As soon as I walked in I was greeted and asked what i was in search of. I was immediately paired with Rocco who asked all the right questions and curated my selection perfectly without overwhelming me. Great customer service, horrible, horrible, horrible, HORRIBLE product. I came to get my eye exam, pick out glasses, and get them fitted here 3 years ago, and am now in the process of getting an exam, new glasses, etc, and I will not be coming to WP. The eye doctor, sales associate, and guy measuring my face for fitting the glasses were absolutely fantastic. The doctor was kind, the sales associate was helpful and not pushy, and the dude who measured my face was extremely thorough. Sometimes when my friends tried on my glasses, they would remark that it looked weird on them, and that it seems like it was shaped just for my face. The quality of the glasses? Absolute shit. I was so excited to move on from my nerdy, from an optician store glasses, but realized within a few days of wearing the WP's that in comparison to my old ones, they got dirty so easily, and scratched so easily. At my age, $95 was still a lot of money so I stuck through with the glasses, and more often than not, took them off because the lenses were just so dirty all the time, always. Furthermore if you do have an insurance plan, in comparison to in-network options, $95 is not that cheap. The frames here are hip, but frankly I'd rather be ugly than blind. I've read that when the founders of WP were first starting out, they wanted to price the glasses at $45, but a person advising the founders suggested they double that and price it at $90, basically because $45 seems too sketchy. Well, if they could have profited off $45 per pair of glasses, who knows how much it costs to manufacture a pair..... This company is a marketing genius and knows how to do great business for a horrible product, appealing to millennials and infiltrating FB and Twitter to distort our senses of of fair value, etc, but seriously, glasses=medical device, so good marketing or not, I'm going to try find a product that's good. read more

While the price on prescription non-sunglasses is really good, the glasses do need to be readjusted every ~3 months or so, as I find that they loosen rather frequently. Living three hours from my nearest Warby Parker, this has now become an issue. The price for prescription sunglasses ($200) is uninspiring. read more

There are optometrists on site who will assist with fitting. They offer free glasses cleanings and frame fittings/adjustments for life! I'm very satisfied with my purchases at Warby. Warby Parker seems upscale and cool but I'll take accuracy any day. For the past 8 years I've ordered my glasses online with Zenni Optical. I've been trying to get my God Father out of the stone age and on this train but he refuses. We patronized WP for his new specs and I was impressed, initially. The glasses looked great and, personally, it felt nice to be in a store again and able to try them on my face instead of on a pic. During our visit we gave them his new script, they took his measurements and informed us he would receive the new glasses by mail within 2 weeks bcz nothing is done on site. While we were there I tried on a few pair of glasses and really liked a particular set. The staff is very friendly and after speaking with a salesperson she took my email and sent me a reminder of the glasses I liked. All in all I would say WP is very technologically savvy and uses New Age Technology to enhance the experience of something that is very old school: glasses LOL Unfortunately, here's where things take a sour turn... His glasses arrived, as promised, within two weeks (it took about 13 days in all). However, while wearing them he was having a difficult time seeing and had to put them at the tip of his nose in order to see clearly. Here is where I'm having a hard time understanding their practice. How was it possible that I can email my script and measurements, receive my new glasses (at a fraction of the price) from an online store within the same time frame, and they're accurate but in his case we went into a location and receive incorrect measurements? We were forced to return to Warby Parker (the only benefit was I got to go downstairs and have a cupcake) and inform them of his difficulty seeing they checked out the glasses and confirmed that the measurements were inaccurate. Nothing is done on site so we had to wait an additional two weeks for his new pair to arrive. This time they did not arrive at our home, they were sent to the Warby Parker location and we had to go in and exchange them with old pair. WP is the cool kid on the block with potential but they need to work out their kinks. Two stars for friendly service and being tech savvy read more

OK. I have something dumb to say. I thought Warby Parkers arrived at your house and were supposed to fit your face. Well I guess not. You are actually supposed to get them adjusted after they arrive at your house. Nobody told me that! Anyways, after having my glasses slide down my face a million times, I absolutely could not take it and came back here to get them adjusted. You have to put your name on a list and wait to be called. I waited for almost 30 min which was really boring. There isn't much to do while waiting other than try on random pairs of glasses and laugh at how bad/ good you look. Somebody finally helped me. They fit much better now. I honestly almost never wear my glasses (only on planes, long trips etc) so hopefully they will stay tight and not get lose. I received a try on box this past Monday and wasn't crazy over any of the frames. I brought it in to the store on Newbury st on Wednesday to see if someone could help me find another option. I walked in to a group of employees chatting and had a hard time getting someone's attention to help me. Once I did he gave me a quick explanation where on the shelf there may be "narrow" frames and then took the box and continued hanging out. There were only a couple other options I didn't already have in the box, and they included the pair I already own. I was hoping for something a little different. It would have been nice to have the opinion and more ideas from an employee. I checked to make sure I was all set leaving the try on box there to return it, was told it was all set and left. I was a little disappointed there wasn't a larger variety of frames in the narrow size and was also disappointed with the service I received and then I came home today (Friday) to the try on box AGAIN. It was obviously forgotten by the employees all too busy chatting with each other to assist a customer and got sent back to me. I will be not be buying my next glasses from this company. I went here three weeks ago and waited to write this review until I got my glasses and had worn them for a bit. Tip - if you want service get there as the store opens. I got there at 30 mins after the store opened on a Saturday morning and the store was already swamped. I did get a salesperson right away but my sense was that if I had come later in the day I would have to wait. Tip - you can choose an expedited shipping option for an additional $30. The salesperson clicked ahead on her screen assuming I didn't want it expedited. I did. And I paid up. But it wasn't obvious. I am assuming most customers don't get the expedited shipping option. So if you want it you can ask. Salesperson was very helpful. No pressure unlike LensCrafters. And genuinely looked around for what would suit me best. In the end I bought three pairs of glasses for the price of what one pair would have cost at LensCrafters. Quality of the glasses. Customer service even post purchase. All amazing. By the way - if you call their main contact number you get a real live human at the other end. No recordings. And you can respond to their automatic emails and someone responds to it. I am going to catch some heat for this review, but I will share my reflection on this particular retail experience. Yes, the rumors are true. Regular prescription glasses start at $95 and prescription sunglasses start at $125 INCLUDING the lenses. I purchased a pair of sunglasses online prior to stepping foot in the retail location on Newbury Street. I wasn't overly pleased with the sunglasses, but I figured I would try the normal glasses when it was time for a new pair. First off, the location is centrally located in Back Bay. However, you do have to get past the overflowing line of people waiting at Georgetown Cupcake, enter the walk-up brownstone and get to the Warby Parker floor. The actual store is small. I mean, really small. If you do not like crowds, this is not for you. However, after elbowing some people to get to the selection of eye glasses, I found the pair I wanted. I had my prescription in hand and I was ready to check out and get the hell out. The check-out process was a cluster-you-know-what. I couldn't figure out how to place the order with one of their associates. Was there a line or what? I asked for help from someone working there and their response was, "Just hoard around them while they're with other customers." Gee thanks. If it wasn't for someone else working there that realized there were a lot of people ready to check out, a line was formed and it was time to get to business. The check-out process, once you worked with someone, was relatively easy. You have the option to have the glasses shipped to you or the store. I had it shipped to me because there was no way I would deal with the store again. Regardless, once I got my receipt, I realized the glasses were to be shipped in store. You've got to be kidding me. So, I waited a day and then contacted Warby Parker support to let them know of the snafu. They corrected it and ensured my glasses would be shipped to me. The glasses arrived in 4 business days (bonus!!)!! When I tried them on, I was really bummed because they just didn't fit right. I was torn between returning them or just dealing with them. Well, later that week, my mom and I went back to the store on a weeknight (DO NOT GO ON A WEEKEND!) and I talked to one of the staff members there and asked what my options were. Well, they were able to fix my glasses on spot. My mom worked with someone and helped her pick out a pair of glasses that she liked. I love my glasses and I'm glad it all worked out. They came with a warranty on the frames and lenses, too! In conclusion, I probably would not purchase again in-store. I can't deal with crowds (sorry, I can't deal with the hipster Toms-wearing crowd) and disorganization. Their website does allow you to upload a picture of yourself so you can virtually try-on glasses and a way to receive free frames in the mail before purchase. Great selection of glasses. Are you looking for that ironic hipster throwback to 1950's era George Reeve Superman look. Check. Something more modern but still classically elegant. Check. They have all types of looks and the staff is usually helpful though they do get overwhelmed by the hordes. The prices are amazing, the styles on point, but the only drawback is that the actual lens gets dirty easy. None of my other branded lenses are this prone to getting dirty this quickly so carry lens wipes. I also had an eye exam. They don't take most insurances and they forgot to send out my contact lens prescription so I had to remind them (a few times). Other than that snafu, the eye exam itself was pleasant and the doctor was very knowledgable and had good recommendations about what lenses to order and why. read more

I feel like I am always in this store now because of lens replacements and requesting to have my NEW prescription put in, but instead end up having my old prescription placed in the frames. So far this has happened twice (one time I did not notice for months) and it's incredibly frustrating considering that you have to wait quite a bit to receive your frames after they have been sent out. Checking out hasn't been very efficient lately either. The last associate I saw had trouble finding me in their system (been a customer since 2010 I believe) and my new address doesn't seem to populate when I am asked where my frames should be shipped to. read more

There is no right time to go. You will always be surrounded the worst of what Hipsters have to offer, namely the late teens, early 20's variety. They will bring a gaggle of their intolerable friends that will cluck and peck at at every eyewear selection in the store. This will want to make you want to shoot yourself. If you can overcome your frustration, you will be rewarded with an awesome pair of glasses. The staff at this location are very nice, if you can fight through the throngs to get to them. They are equipped with IPads,in order to arrange the delivery of your new eyes to your home. They don't seem to have a lot of time to offer glasses suggestions, so bring a friend if you don't know what you want. Eye glasses are $95... total! I've spent years buying $400 Ray Bans, only to pay through the nose when my paid for insurance runs out. Here you get the frames, lens and one year of insurance for less than $100. It's a miracle. I've worn my Warbys every day for two months, and so far we are still in love.They are light weight, sturdy and don't smudge or scratch. Tips: 1) They have an optometrist on staff in case you don't know your prescription, but book your appointment in advance online. 2) If your prescription is over a year old, they won't accept it. 3) They will measure your Pupillary Distance in store. 4) Some frames cost more than $95 -- so look at the tags 5) They stock sunglasses - and can make them prescription. 6) It takes 7 business days until you get your frames in the mail- shipping is free- you can pay for rush delivery 7) Their online order tracking is awesome - I received a text message and email when they received my order - a message the day before it was to be delivered, and a delivery confirmation. 8) They have live chatting available on their website- in case you have questions about the glasses, order, etc 9) You can bring your glasses back to Newbury to be fitted. Alternatively- they will reimburse you if you pay to have them fitted elsewhere. 10) If your glasses arrive damaged, or if the fitting place damages your frames (like what happened to my man friend). I've had crappy vision for some time but have always kinda hated wearing glasses. In short, the cute ones are too expensive. This, combined with my deep fear of contact lenses, has led me to spend much of my adult life sans vision correction, traipsing about the world only slightly better off, vision-wise, than the average bat. This is where Warby Parker comes to the rescue. Cute frames that can simultaneously be described as "classic" and (grumble) "hipster" are $95 for the whole kit and kaboodle: yep, frames and prescription lenses. This is good, guys. This is really good. The lenses are also anti-scratch and anti-glare, and there's a return policy, and they'll fix them up if something happens. Honestly, the whole thing is a work of branding genius. Bad vision just became an excuse to buy more accessories...for your eyes. The customer service at this location is OK. I actually kind of prefer to be left to my own devices rather than hounded on by an associate when shopping, so the hands-off approach here works for me. I can, however, appreciate the comments of other Yelpers who seemed to find the staff a bit aloof. In any case, I really cannot say enough good things about the affiliated optometry office next door. Dr. Vania Yip is super friendly, cool, and professional. The cost of an eye exam is $95, which means you can get a fresh eye exam and new glasses for the relative bargain of $190.00. I hadn't had an eye exam in ages and would definitely return to Dr. Yip when I need one again in a couple of years. Just be sure to make an appointment ahead of time-- their online booking system didn't work for me, so I had to call the store to make an appointment. I kind of fell in love with Warby Parker frames recently, so I forced myself to go and get an eye exam (it had been 3.5 years, afterall) in hopes that I'd have a new prescription so I could get new glasses. Fortunately/unfortunately my prescription didn't change, but I decided I needed new glasses anyway because new glasses are the best. Plus I knew that all the Warby Parker options were only $95, so how can you go wrong, really? I stopped into the shop on July 3rd, tried on some frames, chatted up the lovely salespeople (who doted on my children, which, while totally unnecessary, certainly earned them some bonus points) and ordered myself some glasses. Paid my $95, was told it would be 7-10 days, was sent on my way. Grabbed a cupcake downstairs, because Georgetown Cupcakes are the most delicious cupcakes. The Warby Parker suckers didn't let the July 4th holiday stand in their way; I had my glasses in the mail a mere 6 days after ordering them. And so, I'm a Warby Parker fan for life. I lost a pair of Warby Parker frames on the Red Line a few days back... I went to the lost and found at JFK/UMass to see if someone had turned them in, but come on. Long story short, I faced the facts that these glasses were gone and headed to the WP store on Newbury St to replace my Percy Charcoal Fade frames. The girl who helped me was super nice and gave me a discount because I had lost a pair. All in, this is the only place I will buy glasses from. Lots of amazing frames to choose from in the store here in Boston. This is fantastic because you don't have to do the mail away online. You need to check with your insurance to see if they cover out of network glasses. Warby Parker does not do insurance but they do give you a receipt so you can try and get reimbursed for some of the cost. I have shopped around other eyeglass stores and they tend to be double the price of Warby, but then insurance usually covers half of that so it's a wash unless you get reimbursed by your insurance company for out of network glasses you may be purchasing at Warby. If you can make that happen then you will save some money! read more

I can't comment on the precision or quality since I didn't buy my glasses here, but I can say that Warby Parker has very friendly and helpful staff. I came here for my eye exam and found the whole process to be very transparent, and I was made to feel very comfortable. It was an easy process to get my prescription. I also took some time to try on some frames, and I really like the selection of styles they have. It's a very large selection, and they have frames that look very nice and high end for the price. The place was extremely crowded, but all the staff were super friendly and approachable. It was also a little difficult to find the place at first - didn't realize it was on an upper floor! read more
