The staff seems incapable ot communicating proactively and consistently. I had one appointment in September 2024 to be assessed for updated scleral contact lenses. It is now April 2025 and I have yet to received the lenses. I have a corneal dystrophy and am dependent on these lenses to function. I have contacted the office and practice administrator countless of times since September, and the ONLY times I received a call back or response, was when my insurance stepped in on my behalf. Over the past nearly 7 months, the office incorrectly billed my insurance 2-3 times, and after being told the claim is now classified as provider liability due to "timely filing," they are refusing to provide any clear information to me or my insurance. This provider was recommended to me for quality care for speciality diagnoses and ability to advocate with insurance/billing to support complex issues. These things could not be farther from the truth. I have never encountered a more disorganized, unhelpful, and borderline reportable, optometrist office. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Korb and now Dr. McLeod for many years. I am 110% happy with the eye care I receive at this practice. The office staff is lovely as well. I am not giving them 5 stars for one reason. Korb & Associates is charging far too much for dry eye treatment such as intense pulsed light. I have shopped around and found the same treatment for substantially less at other qualified eye care practices. This makes me sad, because I would prefer to have all my treatments with Korb & Associates. I hope Korb & Associates will reconsider and charge reasonable prices for their treatments. read more

The only reason I'm giving an extra star is because Dr. Nau is extremely skilled and an expert in her field. I'm hoping she opens her own practice so I can see her again. My story goes like this. I was running out of contact lenses and needed to order more. I always order them from Walgreens because I usually find coupons online. Right before ordering them I realized my contact lens prescription had just expired and I would need a new one in order for Walgreens to approve my order. So I called up Korb & Associates and asked to set up a contact lens appointment with Dr. Nau. I had been seeing her for a few years. They said the earliest appt she had was in September. Mind you we were in June at the time. I told them I couldn't wait that long because I needed the new prescription immediately. I asked if they could give me a temporary prescription so I could at least order my lenses. They had done it for me in the past so I thought they would do it for me again. They said they couldn't do it this time UNLESS I ordered the contact lenses through them. I asked them what their pricing was and it was almost $100 more than Walgreen's price. So I wasn't going to pay $100 more. I asked them what my options were. They said I could wait to see Dr. Nau in September or choose another doctor there for my exam. I decided to make an appt with another doctor there the next week. At this time the person I was speaking to asked me what my insurance was because she wanted to make sure my visit was covered. I gave her my info and she said that my appt would be covered. The day of my appt came and I checked in to the front. The receptionist (who I always had a good relationship with) gave me some paperwork to fill out. One of the documents was to give them the right to use some machine to take a picture of my eye or something along those lines. It said it wasn't covered by insurance and would be $50. I asked the receptionist about this and told her that I see another eye doctor for glaucoma and she tests me fully during my appts. The receptionist said it wasn't a necessity but something they like to do. Basically, it's just something they're trying to get some extra money for. The document makes it seem like you have to get it done. So if you don't speak up and inquire then you'll just sign off and get screwed out of $50. I met the new doctor who was doing my exam. He was a nice guy but I wasn't too impressed in comparison to Dr. Nau. As my appointment was almost over he asked me if I wanted a picture of my eye taken - the picture that they had given me the document for out front. I told him I didn't want it because it cost $50 and my other eye doctor examines me thoroughly. He said not to worry about it and that he'd take the picture of my eye for free. So that made me shake my head - they were just trying to make some extra cash imo. As I was leaving the office after my appointment the receptionist called me over. She said the cost of my visit was $150. I said, "What? The woman I spoke to on the phone asked me what my insurance was, checked it, and said my exam was covered." The receptionist told me that it wasn't covered, though. She asked me who I had spoken to and I gave her the woman's name. She gave me the old "Ahh...ok" look. The receptionist said "one moment" and went into the back. About a minute later the office manager came out front and asked me what was going on. I told her exactly what I told the receptionist - that a person from her office asked me over the phone for my insurance to make sure that was my appt. was covered. I was told it was so I made the appointment. The office manager then told me contact lens appointments aren't covered by insurance. I asked her why someone at HER office told me it was then. She said, "I don't think she told you that." I said, "Are you calling me a liar?" and she just stood quiet and said that there's no way someone would have said that to me. During this whole time I was looking her right in the eyes yet she would not even look at me. There were other people in the waiting room who were witnessing this whole encounter. I wasn't yelling at all but my voice was firm and strong. I said again that if someone from her office gave me wrong information then I shouldn't be penalized for it. At that point I think she could tell I wasn't going to back down. So she went behind the front desk and said, "You're fine," without even looking at me. I said, "I'm good then?" And she said, "Yes, you're fine." So I walked out of the office and left. It's been almost 5 weeks since my appointment. Then what do you know...I received a bill in the mail from them for the full amount. Just unbelievable. No class whatsoever. I had already decided I was never going back there but this just affirmed my decision. As I said at the beginning of this review, I really hope Dr. Nau opens her own practice because her patients deserve better. If she does, I'll be the first to go. read more

I honestly am surprised this place is rated so highly when they had the most HIPAA/ethics violations I have ever seen at a medical practice. First, when I walked in I was asked to fill in my info and sign that I agreed to three forms: privacy policy, informed consent, contact policy. I was not given a copy of these forms to read before being asked to sign agreeing to them, and then they seemed put out when I asked to see the forms before I agreed to sign them. I then asked for a copy of those forms and they seemed annoyed at that to. For those who are unfamiliar, it is called an informed consent because it is supposed to be explaining to you what exactly you are participating in so you can have all the information you need to make the right decision for you. This is not possible if you cannot read the informed consent. While I was getting some initial eye tests done, someone walked in and told the lady doing my eye tests that THREE of Dr. Korbs patients had left because they were kept waiting too long. I also was left waiting in the exam room for over 30 minutes for the Dr to come in. She said she was with a patient with Alzheimer's who needed some extra time, maybe that's true, but someone could have told me there was a delay instead of me having to leave the room and find someone to ask if the doctor forgot about me. Also, although Alzheimer's affects many people, it's a small practice so it could have been easy for others to identify this patient and know about their medical diagnosis because the doctor had disclosed it. I'm not an expert, but this seems to violate HIPAA too. Before the exam with the doctor (who BTW was very nice), I was taken to a little alcove in the hallway that had no door, just a curtain, and then someone started asking me all these personal health history questions and all about what medications I was on. I tried to whisper, but I'm sure others heard. I'm sure of that because when I was in my exam room waiting for the doctor, I heard 2 other people giving their health history. Sounds like a HIPAA violation to me. While I was sitting in the exam room bored out of my mind, I realized there was a laptop open with someone else's file pulled up. Do I even need to explain why that shouldn't be happening? Maybe this practice isn't considered a covered entity by HIPAA so they don't need to follow the rules, maybe these aren't HIPAA violations at all, but do you really want an eye doctor who at best is negligent, and at worst just doesn't care, about protecting your medical information? Do you really want everyone else waiting for an exam to hear about your blood pressure and the medications you take? Do you really want to have to beg to see a copy of the policies you're supposed to sign and agree to? Personally, I do not and will not be going back there. read more

I had an eye prescription filled on Dec 27, was told my glasses would arrive 2 weeks later. To this day, I still do not have my glasses and their staff do not keep me updated. over the course of the last few weeks, I would email their optician for assistance. They don't get back to you, until you call after a week of no response. I emailed them for status again on 1/19/2022 and as usual, no response. Then I called them. Somebody finally responded on 1/24: "A lab is shipping your glasses tomorrow or on Wednesday. We should get by the end of the week. " Such a lie and unprofessional. I really don't have all day to chase after them. I don't mind things delayed but non communication is really really bad. my glasses are not cheap, over close to $1300. At the time of selecting Korbs, I wanted to support small businesses during this pandemic and didn't even ask about prices before ordering. I am very wrong! read more

She took time to go online and then sleuth with colleagues to determine how I might get the most eye care product at least cost- even providing me a discount code for free shipping when it was determined that I could get a particularly good deal online! My most recent appointment was with Dr. Amy Nau. She was extremely knowledgeable, pleasant, and communicative; After conducting a thorough eye examination, Dr. Nau recommended cataract surgery, provided a referral to an excellent surgeon, and prescribed a preliminary regimen to prepare me for the procedure. I came to this office for an initial eye exam. Though the front desk was very nice and friendly, the doctor was utterly unfocused and seemingly incompetent. He came in extremely hurried and performed my eye exam within a few minutes, telling me a prescription that was 100 off in one eye. It felt weird so I asked him to check again as my vision hadn't seemed to have changed since my last eye exam. After another 10 seconds of quick checks he told me that I was right, my vision hadn't changed. How can a doctor be off by 100 degrees??? He clearly was not interested in helping me but rather wanted to get through his appointments as fast as he could. Would not recommend at all. The doctor need to understand that patients are there to be treated not to just pay him for an appt fee. read more

I was a 20+ year patient of Dr. Exford, and when she reduced her working hours, transitioned to Dr. Nau. I have never been happier, and enthusiastically recommend the practice for all of your eyecare needs. I typically wear eyeglasses, but during winter and summer sports, wear daily disposable contact lenses. I have various (minor) issues that NO other Doctor ever identified, and have a family history of several serious eye issues (separated retina & more). Every member of the practice has always treated me with courtesy and professionalism. From the Co-Op students learning from this storied practice, to the front desk personnel, Docs and everyone in-between. I never feel rushed, and being a "Type A" personality who is trying hard to get the best sight possible out of these aging eyes, appreciate everyone's focus on doing so with me. I suffered from red eyes through college - seriously, people would ask me if I was high all the time. I didn't do anything about it until I moved to Boston and decided to go into Dr Korb's office for a routine eye exam. I found out that I was suffering from dry eye caused by a partial blink, common in people that wear hard lenses (some kind of bodily adaptation to reduce discomfort). When your top and bottom eyelids don't touch, they don't release eye lubricants, and you get dry eyes. He sat me in front of a high speed camera and I got to see just how bad my blink was. He was very blunt about everything, which I appreciate, and after switching to soft lenses and doing blink exercises, the red eyes went away. I think if you have some oddity with your eyes, see Dr Korb. However, he's like the House MD of eyes - if it's not weird or severe, he seems bored. He likes spending time trying to solve a problem, even if it disrupts his schedule. There were times where Dr Korb ran overtime with another patient and I waited a good 45 mins past my scheduled appointment time just to get seen for a check-up. However, in the past few years, I switched over to Dr Kenrick, and she's been great. I've never had to wait to get seen since. read more

I've been coming here for about 6 months to prep and follow up for lasik surgery. I chose it because it's convenient to get to from work, but I plan to keep them as primary providers because they do a lot of things really well. They are incredibly respectful of my time and always take me in right away without waiting. The process is always speedy and efficient. Not something I'm used to from medical offices. Also Dr. McCleud is wonderful-- super patient and knowledgeable. I really like him! Heads up that you need to buzz in the front door and the office is on the ground floor (elevator down). read more

So a couple years ago my wife looked up my terrible eyes on the Internet and suggested that maybe I had this weird, obscure disease called keratoconus and perhaps I should get that checked out, and it just so happens that, like, the world's leading expert in keratoconus works right on the Common. I made an appointment. I walked in and Dr. Korb was all, "Oh yeah, you've got keratoconus." Within minutes, he had me seeing better than I'd seen in years. This was a pretty big deal for me; no other doctor had been able to diagnose me, and I was honestly under the impression that I was going blind and that was the end of it. So it was pretty cool to find out that I am not. The only problem was, I had been going through life in a pleasant mist and suddenly all I could see was dirt everywhere. And pores. When I looked at people, all I could see was their pores. That first week was honestly really gross, and led me to believe that maybe being half-blind wasn't so bad after all. But, y'know, I've hit a lot less old ladies with my car since then, so it's sortof a mixed blessing. When I came out to pay, the receptionist was like, "Keratoconus, huh? I could tell the minute you walked in." So to recap, the receptionist at Dr. Korb's office is better than any other eye doctor I've ever been to. I now see Dr. Fennimore, Dr. Korb's partner who's just as good, and I can't recommend all of them strongly enough. (Yes, even if you don't have some crazy disease you can't pronounce.) The staff all remember me or do a good job of faking it; they're really patient and helpful with insurance, which is nice if you just switched jobs and you're totally confused, and the optometrists themselves are the cream of the crop. read more

My experience was good for the eye exam that I had here, but subsequent experiences have been quite poor as far as customer service goes. I had to call three times to have my prescription faxed to me, and as of yet, it still has not been done. I also had my contacts order delayed due to the office not following up with my supplier. All of my conversations have ended with the phone being hung up in my ear. While my experience with the actual optometrist were good, once your money is in their pockets, the service goes down the tubes. Would not recommend this optometrist. read more

I've seen EVERY optometrist at Korb & Associates. They're all pretty well-acclaimed in the field, so you can't really go wrong with seeing any of them for whatever your pretty little browns, blues, or greens need. Korb & Associates is quite a gem in the world of optometry. I was a patient of Dr. Korb originally, but he's a busy man with his research, lectures, practice, etc., and was booked for a month. When I needed yearly check-ups, Dr. Exford and Dr. Finnemore had open appointments sooner, so I saw both of them at separate times. I hate to play favorites, but er, I will. Dr. Korb is by far my favorite. He's extremely friendly and will talk to you about the most random things during your appointment. Dr. Finnemore's pretty straightforward and professional, and Dr. Exford (who I BELIEVE is Dr. Korb's wife, but correct me if I'm wrong) reminds me of a really nice auntie you always wished you had. They're all very professional, good at what they do, and are more than happy to answer any questions you have. Plus, they're usually relatively quick and efficient, so I'm a fan. read more

It's 2007...Why don't we have robots that can point at your eyes and scan you to get your prescription? Where's my future? I want jet packs and teleportation! Until then, I'm glad I found Dr. Korb. He's gentle, caring, funny and thorough at getting your prescription right, even when your eyes are impossible to test like mine. He and his assistant tested and tested and tested more until they were comfortable with what they came up with. Then, they took the time to explain everything to me in plain English in a way that made sense. I never felt rushed and instead felt like he genuinely cared about what he does and his patients. The only reason I didn't give him 5 stars is that I had to wait 1 1/2 hrs past my appointment time before he saw me. In all fairness, the reception did warn me there was a long wait, but I'm sure glad I had a good book with me. However, when you realize that the delay is because of the care he takes with each patient, you feel glad you're going to get the same. read more

This is a review for the office as a whole, not the Doctor who saw me, Dr. Kenrick. She was great, I could tell she knew what she was doing, she inspected my glasses before I did the eye exam, and even understood my difficulties with my prescriptions. She was polite, patient and helpful and I would see her again. I'm leaving 2 stars under the review because the follow-up service with choosing, paying and picking up the glasses was terrible. First, the lady at the front desk seemed very short with me, and when they wouldn't accept my Discover card, she handled it awkwardly. I chose my frames, and they said it would be 2-3 weeks to pick up the glasses. Although that's a very long time, it's my fault for not checking to see how long it would take before choosing this office. I waited. I waited 2 weeks, no call, so I waited until the end of week 3 and still no call. I call a few days after 3 weeks had passed and the receptionist said she didn't know because the optician wasn't in. I asked if she had any clue where they were and why they were taking so long and she didn't know but will call the next day with the information. She didn't call the next day. So I called back, and sure enough my glasses had been there for awhile. Unfortunately, I really liked Dr. Kenrick, but an awful experince trying to get my actual glasses. read more

Was trying to make an appointment here and they originally said that there were appointments up to the 20th and then 2 minutes later they lied and said that there isnt anything til the 27th. Then they yelled and were very rude, and said that I am not able to get lasik, when I already had booked it. They also hung up on us. The second I mentioned my name they handed my phone to a different person because they didn't want to talk to me. I am doing the treatments that they have been wanting me to do, but wont give me another appointment. Customer service is absolutely terrible. But the doctors are amazing. Korb and Associates has been extremely helpful with my dry eyes. Dr. Kenrick is amazing and incredibly knowledgeable. The office staff are great and helped squeeze me in quickly when I was having a hard time with my eyes. My eyes have noticeably improved using the techniques I have learned from this office in the short month I have been being seen there. They even helped me find a contact that is a much better fit for my eye after I have been told by other ODs that there were no other options. I recently visited Dr Donald Korb and his staff for a severe dry eye problem I have struggled with for over 17 years . As a coordinator or the Orange County Dye Eye Support Group in Calif I have looked for a doctor that was able to diagnose and treat dry eye and the many symptoms it causes.. I learned that the correct diagnosis is Meibomian Gland Disease that causes dry eye. Dr korb has a multitude of tests and treatments to provide a quality of life many could only hope for.. His staff are unbelievably knowledgeable and gracious.. if you have dry eye don't hesitate to reach out to Dr korb as with 45 years of research and practice he knows his stuff.. Many years ago I had the incredible good fortune to be referred to Dr. Korb. I am extremely nearsighted and have high intraocular pressure (which can lead to glaucoma). For years, Dr. Korb was able to fit me with gas permeable contact lenses that corrected my bad vision. He identified my high IOL and sent me to a top glaucoma specialist; because of that I have had no deterioration in my vision - I just control it with eye drops. Unfortunately, I moved to New Jersey six years ago and cannot make the trip up to Boston to see him. I am dealing with cataracts now and the negative side effects of a cataract surgery done here in NJ. But for anyone in the Boston area - especially people with high myopia who want gas permeable contact lenses for the best vision correction - please, please go see Dr. Korb and his colleagues! Yes, sometimes the wait is longer than you might like, but that is because of the time that Dr. Korb will spend on YOU - getting to know you, understanding your problems and explaining what is going on with your eyes and his recommendations. This is not like going to LensCrafters for an eye exam - this is a holistic and personalized approach to eye care - especially for people with a combination of eye problems. I can't say enough about how wonderful the staff is at Korb & Associates. I have a very difficult vision problem that requires numerous regular follow-ups for contact lens fittings and re-fittings. I suspect that I personally spend more time at the eye doctor in one month than most people spend in three years. The administrative and medical staff always provide the finest possible care. I have been a patient here for many years and have always had a pleasant experiece. Yesterday was a bit of a different circumstance since I came in to see Dr. Korb for an emergency visit. I am a teacher and had an incident where something hit me in the eye in class so I called Korb & Associates for some information even though it was nearly 5 pm and they were closing up for the day. Dr. Korb immediately got on the phone with me and asked if I would feel better about just coming right in and said they would keep the office open for me. I was shocked that they would do this and very grateful! Once I got in everyone was extremely friendly and caring. Dr. Korb has an amazing presence. He immediately calmed my nerves and explained everything clearly and efficiently. I cannot say enough about Dr. Korb and the group as a whole. You will have to meet them yourself to believe! read more

Avoid this practice at all costs. The doctors all seem great ( I really like Dr. Finnemore) but it is horribly run. First of all, expect to wait at least 30 minutes while you're there. One of the women at the front desk is very sweet on the phone but miserable in person, as is the contact fitting specialist. They are extremely pissy if you are in a hurry, and well anything else that may inconvenience them in the slightest. I found this place because it was right around the corner from my old office and one time my contact ripped and I had no extras on me so I called ahead and went there to buy a new box or pick up a sample. When I arrived I was lectured for not having my glasses on me always and to my horror I could hear them complaining about me in the back getting the contact sample. I fought back tears and vowed to never go back only to become lazy and order a box from them a year later so they could charge my EyeMed information they had on file. When I called I asked if the box would cost around $30 or $40 (what they cost elsewhere) and was told yes, I was also told shipping would be $5. A week later I was charged $170 to my credit card. I called back and the friendlier of the two women at the front rectified this and then a few weeks later my bill came and I saw that they charged Eyemed $80 (more than half of my yearly spending) and $10 for shipping. Obviously this was after I had received and opened the box too, when I called they informed me that the person probably gave me the wrong information and that the prices I was quoted were for a 30 day supply and not 90 day, yet they were unwilling to do anything to fix this. I am never going back. read more

Tamya, is one of the receptionists, she is so friendly and great smile and so patient, I have seen Dr. Nau she is so good she takes her time to explain things to me about my eyes, which is very helpful in my treatment and care. I like being able to go on line and request an appointment and I have always gotten one that agrees with my schedule. I would recommend this office for exams and glasses but more important like me for dry eye or eye issues, they are pretty good with testing and finding the issue and explaining the plan to help you. read more

I cannot say enough good things about this practice. I have been a patient for years: a dry-eye flare up took me to several ophthalmologists who all told me the same thing - I'd never be in contact lenses again. Finally one referred me to Korb & Associates and here I am, 14 years later, in contact lenses full time. At first I saw Dr. Korb who is amazing, at my worst he spent up to 2 hours with me. Since then I've moved on to Dr. Kenrick, who is equally generous with her time. From time to time I have had flare-ups due to various reasons, and the doctors have always worked through to a solution with me. They are patient and caring. Great experience! I cancelled my appointment with Cambridge Eye Doctors in Brookline because of the incredibly rude staff. I called Korb and Associates to make an appointment. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful and was able to answer all of my questions. When I arrived for my appointment I was immediately helped by friendly, funny, and professional workers.
