(This is where you the reader involuntarily snap your fingers) Yes, the decor is quirky and fun and worthy of exploring fully. The food is very pub fare with a great Prime rib special on Fridays and Saturdays. The wyfe had the prime rib and found it a bit grisly but tasted good even having to spit out bits on gristle onto her plate. I had the Steak Sandwich. Was very tasty including all the grease that dribbled down my chin. I was told it was made from leftover prime rib and one could tell it was a higher quality meat. And the 200+ beers is wonderful, all reasonably priced which was great in an era when many places are starting to price their beers $10+. I will want to the cocktails. Interestingly the bar is very high making the patrons look very short and/or heads on a long board. Did I mention the ooky vibe? Adding to the experience is the drive to get there. Lots of very windy roads with drop offs and spooky trees (did they plan that?). I found the staff incredibly friendly and helpful which contrasted to some of the reviews citing rude and vulgar behavior. This place is really cool but the food was awful. It's not a waiter service type place. You order food and drinks at the bar and find a seat. The bartender was friendly and consistent. I love the vibes and all the interesting decor. Clam chowder was BURNT and inedible. The $48 prime rib dinner was mediocre. Mind blown by the price. Next time I'm eating dinner across the street at Bull Valley Roadhouse and then popping into the Warehouse Cafe for a nightcap. Cheers! read more

What. Is. This. Place? It almost defies description. Almost. If aliens from the Old West slapped together a bar in a town that doesn't exist, you might get this if you get there at all. It does have a nice beer list and two bears, it does not have many traces of the modern world. It does have cool, countercultural seating with front row views of the water and passing trains, it does not have snooty patrons sniffing about their drink not having enough orange blossom or whatever. It also has a UFO. And a gift shop. I couldn't shake the feeling that it was intended to make you feel like you were in a slasher film. With an assortment of knives, plastic children's Smurf cups, and many other items lost in time (such as Playboys from 2002 still lovingly encased in plastic (preserve and protect!)) you could sense that danger lurked, it just wasn't clear from where. Food was good...bartender who was supposedly the owner was rude as hell. We tipped at the bar. We tried bussing our table and was told to please don't do that. As I walked out the door and said bye and thank you, I heard " next time tip". Really? I did tip you old lady. So I walked back in and handed her a $20. She obviously needed it. Won't see me again. I will let everyone know how rude they are. The guy who gave us our food was really nice but other than that....Nasty customer service. They have the most extensive beer menu I've ever seen and the drinks are all double. They ONLY take cash but there's an ATM machine in the place in case you forget. It's definitely a total biker/locals thing and the staff is nice. But they ONLY take cash! There's live music on Sunday. Parking is rough when it's busy and the dirt, chip sealed parking area is full of potholes and puddles when it rains. But that suits the ambiance of Port Costa. Everyone should visit this place, if only to see something totally different and unexpected. Bring cash. They ONLY take cash! And the views out on the water are spectacular... We decided to visit the tiny town of Port Costa, having no real expectations. It was definitely a time warp! Old buildings from the 1800's and a definite old timey vibe. The one thing I previously read was that the Warehouse Cafe's prime rib was worth driving that windy road. And I can tell you: indeed it was! Actually the whole experience at the Warehouse was pretty amazing. Our server, Maria, was super nice, attentive and personable, always checking on us. The bread was warm and the Grassland butter was tasty! The appetizer lemon pepper chicken wings were delish! And of the course, the piece de resistance, the prime rib was juicy and succulent! We also had some homemade blueberry cheesecake for dessert and it was yummy too! All in all, a perfect Saturday night dinner date! The whole vibe of the Warehouse is pretty kitschy, with a bar, jukebox, pool table and a couple full size bears (polar & grizzly) on display! Owner is rapacious re prices for everything. Lived here for 40 yrs and choose not to patronize because of unfair pricing. "Supercharge" on Sunday drinks when there is a band is NOT in place of a cover charge; it goes right to the amount of income the business, thus, the owner, accrues. This community is not elite re their incomes and never has been. Most cannot afford to drink or dine at either of the 2 establishments in town, whereas we used to be able to walk to either place from our residences, meet and greet our friends and neighbors conveniently and cheaply. Previous owners were not as concerned with revenue as they were with providing above mentioned venues primarily for neighbors who come to "harmonize" with each other as well as the well-liked wait staff folks. One of my go to bars! Went there during my time as a cadet at the maritime academy and even was there after graduation. Got to put my pin and name tag on a GB life preserver. Classic dive bar ambiance, the service is fast and the drinks are strong. And talk about a beer list! 100 or so beers in bottles to choose from. Port Costa is the type of cloistered hamlet you amble into casually after walking in the hills of the Carquinez Strait Regional Shoreline. The commercial section is a mere blip at the end of Canyon Lake Drive, and this ramshackle watering hole provides the anchor. I remember the place intimidated me the first time I saw it well before the pandemic because there was a sea of motorcycles parked in the lot and on the street. The patio was packed and the beer was flowing, over 250 different brands. I had it in my head that Jamie W. and I would come by for their $32 Prime Rib dinner, but it's available only on Fridays and Saturdays after 5PM. When we feel more desperately carnivorous, we'll do it. Meantime, I stopped by in the middle of my hillside hike as it was pretty empty except for about four regulars at the bar and a young family out on the patio which looks like the aftermath of a failed rummage sale. I knew they weren't serving hot food, but I was curious what they had beyond beer. The friendly bartender told me he could make me a Turkey and Cheese Sandwich with Potato Salad, and with a refillable Diet Coke, it cost me $9 (photo: https://bit.ly/3rgCZNa). It wasn't world-class deli fare, and for some reason, I wasn't disappointed. I think it was the chill vibe when the place is quiet and all you hear is the train rolling by. The only irritant was a stray cat who kept jumping up on my table when I took a bite out of my sandwich. This is a popular motorcycle destination located in Port Costa, right on the Carquinez Strait. The winding road leading in is a blast, with nice tight turns and a view of the water. The term eclectic is often over-used but not here! Polar bears, vintage signs, and neon signs galore. The decor alone makes this a must-visit. You feel like you're on an American Pickers TV show. There's plenty of quirky seating indoors and a large outdoor patio. We ordered a pizza and burger, which is usually a safe bet, even at a biker bar. Sadly, it was beyond disappointing. The pizza appeared to be cooked from frozen and the burger was flavorless lol. For the price, next time I think I'll just order a beer and enjoy the view. Maybe we just had a fluke? My friend mentioned that this was a pretty cool place to eat so we decided to try it. The drive was interesting as we drove through a single lane road twisting around the hills headed towards the coast. On arrival, it was a very small town with only about 10-15 businesses along their "Main" St. It is very quaint and the building are pretty old and rustic. Parking is limited but it seems not too many people end up there. Anyway entering the restaurant is through the bar entrance and head to the bar to order your food or drink. The food menu is on placards placed on a table just in front of the bar. After you make your order and pay, you head to the kitchen and place your ticket on the carousel. You come back about 15 minutes later to check on your order. You eat outside in the patio area or near the parking lot area. The cafe is very old and rustic. You can smell the old rotting wood and the old memorabilia hanging on the walls of the place. Interestingly, bikers seem to enjoy the town and the cafe. I noticed there was a cafe sign that asked people to not be noisy driving through the town. This was a little weird as the bikers drove super loud Harleys even setting off the car alarms of some cars. The food (I ordered a clam chowder and hot links sandwich) was nothing spectacular but was just good. The drive was interesting, winding and tight (there are bicyclists on the same road sometimes) so I won't take the drive down unless I lived close by. read more

When you first see this place you aren't sure where you should enter. If you enter through the double doors off Canyon Lake Dr you will have no idea where to go or who to speak to. The place is so spread out with junk everywhere you end up wandering around like a moron. Not one employee said a word to us. There are no signs directing you where to go or what to do. So annoying. The place looks like a run down horders paradise. The bathrooms which are the size of a matchbox have shower curtains on the stalls. So classy. We decided we didn't want to risk getting tetanus or something worse by eating here and left. read more
