This polar bear has been here for DECADES!

Best dive bar ever! Cash only. Be prepared to keep it real. Glad this spot is still open in our beloved Bay Area!

Drinks and dark ambiance are great but food is mediocre at best. CASH ONLY so remember to only bring cash! Our server was nice and checked on us frequently. We ordered the clam chowder. It was a bit grainy and kinda sloppy. Clams were super chewy. I could not finish it and gave up. Bathrooms were a trip. No door, only a shower curtain to pull for privacy. I don't hate it but I didn't fall in love. Definitely a locals only joint. I do like the old feel of this town. Definitely felt like I was transported back in time.

This place has been exactly the same since I started coming here 25 years ago. The food is ok the beer selection phenomenal, service is generally friendly and the view is hard to beat. There is a cool thrift store in the back too. It's a good place to ride your motorcycle to on a Sunday and enjoy some live music.

$19 - 3 beers. Great service. Great owner. Great location. Love the vibe. Cigar in the yard. Bicyclists on Saturday day. All bikers on Sunday. I dont live close, but I'll find a reason to go back.

This place is like a complete throwback in time. It's a movie set. The food is decent and reasonable and the whole look of the place is unlike anything you've ever seen. They have the most extensive beer menu I've ever seen and the drinks are all double. They ONLY take cash but there's an ATM machine in the place in case you forget. It's definitely a total biker/locals thing and the staff is nice. But they ONLY take cash! There's live music on Sunday. Parking is rough when it's busy and the dirt, chip sealed parking area is full of potholes and puddles when it rains. But that suits the ambiance of Port Costa. Everyone should visit this place, if only to see something totally different and unexpected. Bring cash. They ONLY take cash! And the views out on the water are spectacular... Port Costa should be the swankiest place in the Bay Area. But it absolutely is not.

The beer here really illuminates things.

Under new management and now serving breakfast on the weekends! I FINALLY got down here in time to try the new breakfast at the Warehouse. I've been wanting to try the loco-moco so bad... it did not disappoint! Two perfectly cooked eggs on a big juicy hamburger patty with super tasty brown mushroom gravy. Hit the spot perfectly.

We decided to visit the tiny town of Port Costa, having no real expectations. It was definitely a time warp! Old buildings from the 1800's and a definite old timey vibe. The one thing I previously read was that the Warehouse Cafe's prime rib was worth driving that windy road. And I can tell you: indeed it was! Actually the whole experience at the Warehouse was pretty amazing. Our server, Maria, was super nice, attentive and personable, always checking on us. The bread was warm and the Grassland butter was tasty! The appetizer lemon pepper chicken wings were delish! And of the course, the piece de resistance, the prime rib was juicy and succulent! We also had some homemade blueberry cheesecake for dessert and it was yummy too! All in all, a perfect Saturday night dinner date! The whole vibe of the Warehouse is pretty kitschy, with a bar, jukebox, pool table and a couple full size bears (polar & grizzly) on display! Just a tip: be careful when you're driving in the dirt parking lot. Lots of holes so drive slow.

One of my go to bars! Went there during my time as a cadet at the maritime academy and even was there after graduation. Got to put my pin and name tag on a GB life preserver. Classic dive bar ambiance, the service is fast and the drinks are strong. And talk about a beer list! 100 or so beers in bottles to choose from. Wish they had more on tap but I can't complain about the selections. Wish more people know about it so it felt more lively. thinking about going? DO IT! Just don't forget to bring cash but if you do they do have ATM's

I ordered the sea bass, my husband had the salmon, my sister had a salad, and her husband enjoyed the filet mignon. Every dish was delicious, but the sea bass deserves special recognition. As someone who orders sea bass whenever I can, I've had it in Pismo Beach, Monterey, and San Francisco, and Baxter's has set a new standard. It was incredibly fresh, melt-in-your-mouth tender, with a perfectly crisp sear that locked in all of its delicate flavor. Every bite was moist, flaky, and cooked to perfection. It was honestly the best sea bass I've ever had. The service was warm, attentive, and made us feel truly welcome. Combined with the elegant atmosphere and classic white tablecloths, Baxter's was the perfect place to celebrate. We'll definitely be back!

We ordered the French toast which was delicious and probably the best dish. We also ordered the shrimp and grits however it wasn't traditional, southern shrimp and grits. The grits were nice and creamy could use a little bit more salt in them to bolster the flavor, however, the gravy was less than desirable and very thin and lacked flavor and spice it was more like shrimp scampi on top of grits. The steak and egg platter was tough and reminded me of a steak that you would get at Denny's over cooked and flavorless. The crabcake eggs Benedict was fair. The crabcake had good flavor but was not crispy on the outside however, the hollandaise sauce was done well. The mimosas were very good. The service was lacking. It took us over an hour to get our food then another 15 minutes after we've eaten to get the check. While, there was a large party in the speakeasy, it appeared that the staff was unorganized and could not handle the volume in the restaurant. I will try it again before I consider it a waste of time and money.

Redwood Empire Whiskey Bar absolutely delivers--this place is the perfect mix of great whiskey,…read moresolid food, and a really cool, laid-back atmosphere. From the start, the vibe stands out. The space is really spacious with that clean, industrial feel, and it's incredibly comfortable to hang out in. Between the big windows and views into the distillery, it feels elevated without trying too hard. I also did the tour, and it was fantastic. Getting to see the distilling process up close added a whole new layer to the experience and made everything you taste feel more intentional. The whiskey selection is seriously impressive. I went with a tasting flight, which was a great way to explore their lineup--from smooth, approachable pours to more complex, higher-proof options. You can tell a lot of thought goes into both the whiskey and how it's presented. The cocktails were also a highlight. Super well-balanced and not overdone. The Old Fashioned-style drink I had was spot on--clean, strong, and exactly what you want at a whiskey bar. Food-wise, everything hit. The oysters were fresh and paired perfectly with the drinks, and the hot dog + tots combo was simple but done really well--definitely exceeded expectations. Overall, this is one of those places that works for any kind of visit--whether you're diving into a full tasting or just stopping in for a drink. Great space, great whiskey, and an experience I'd absolutely come back for.

I watched him be incredibly rude to multiple customers; yelling at them to get in line, brushing off their questions. My husband and I inquired about a walk-in barrel tasting, and he said he would see about getting us in ONLY if we signed up for the whiskey club under his name. We opted to order drinks from the bar instead. Later he came up to our table and asked loudly "DID YOU FILL OUT MY FORM?", when we said no he replied "I THOUGHT YOU WANTED TO GET INTO THE TASTING." It was beyond absurd. I have supported Redwood Empire for years through my local stores. I reached out to the brand via their website about this experience and never received a response. Thankfully there's no shortage of distillers in northern California with quality products and better customer service.

Conveniently located near several downtown staple stops, it's an easy addition to an afternoon or evening exploring the area. The cocktail menu is extensive, with plenty of creative options and stories behind many of the drinks. For my fellow gin cocktail girlies, I'd recommend starting with the Bronx Cocktail. For round two, the Bee's Sneeze is another solid choice. I paired my drinks with the lobster roll, which was the standout food item of my visit. The bun was light, fluffy, and perfectly toasted. While the lobster salad wasn't the best I've ever had, it was a very solid bite for a dive-lounge-style bar. I'd skip the chips it comes with, but the fries are absolutely worth ordering. One small service hiccup worth mentioning: the fries are listed as coming with a herb aioli, but mine arrived with ketchup. When I asked about the aioli, my server initially tried to play it off before eventually sharing that they were out. Not a dealbreaker by any means, but it was an odd interaction that could have been handled more directly. The atmosphere is a dark, casual lounge with a cozy hole-in-the-wall feel along the river. The staff was welcoming. If you're looking to trade wine tasting for a cocktail side quest, The Fink is definitely worth a visit.
