Good drinks, strong drinks. People say the food is good but I think that's a little misleading - the food options seem pretty basic but it was impressively good. I would give it zero stars if I could. I visited this place with my family YEARS ago when I was maybe 12 and I still think about the experience to this day. I'm in my 20s now. Never have I ever felt so uncomfortable in one place. I felt discriminated, not welcomed and almost scared. A person (ESPECIALLY A CHILD) should never feel that way. Seems like a great place for drinks and food but don't go if you might want to watch football. The bartender refuses to change the channel because he "doesn't want to". Total Dick move when a party of 12 spent the day eating and drinking there. (And the manager just shrugged and walked away) Hilariously my post on FB was removed because it was not kind or courteous but the bartenders service was neither kind nor courteous We said : we want to watch the football game. The scraggly bartender said "then go home" We ask why won't you you switch the channel to the football game? He said. "Because I don't want to" We asked why can't we watch the game? He said because "preseason is garbage and tomorrow the players will be picking up garbage" We were a group of 12-15 who had been eating and drinking there all day. Disappointed in this place... I've been here twice and both times they've said kitchen is closed but we have Turkey sandwiches lol they definitely cater to the bikers and bar.. like just be a bar. Doors were open, band was playing and drinks were flowing, what else do you need? Yes the kitchen was open, think I had a sandwich, yup, but didn't go for the food. It was a sunshiny day outside, Plenty of seats, plenty of dancing, joyous patrons. Cars motorcycles trucks, everyone is welcome though personally I would leave the kids at home. Be warned... The Warehouse - an East Bay institution for as long as I can remember. Once a rowdier rite of passage for 21-year-olds in Contra Costa County and a bike run destination for mid-lifers on their Harleys, the Warehouse is now seeing a renaissance into a classier, trendier dive, and that's completely okay. The same guys are running the place, but the chalkboard art and high-tech jukebox has made it considerably more Instagram worthy. Fortunately, little else has changed. $9 cocktails (i.e. a mason jar full of booze with a splash of sweet-and-sour) and a long list of beers (with an 80% chance of the one you want being out) dominate the menu. I've learned to just sit down, name a genre and take whatever they give me, and I've never been dealt a bad hand. My nights at the Warehouse typically revolve around the pool table, watching girls with nose rings slide dollar bills into the jukebox while people smoke cigarettes on the wooden picnic tables out front. On warmer nights, it's a good place to watch the trains go by or the lights from Benecia reflect onto the delta. With prior clientele, it also used to be a great place to watch the late-night fistfights, but it feels like things are changing. We'll see. A great spot if you're looking for a go-to rather than a bar crawl. Drive slow and careful on the drives in and out of Port Costa, and watch out for deer. Also beware the door-free stalls in the ladies' room, if you value your privacy, and say Hi to the bear for me. ;-) read more

Due to my inability to follow instructions I arrived three hours early for the soiree. I'm fine keeping my own company anywhere unless the voice in my head finds another and sometimes there are three and then it's a cacophony and I have a hard time concentrating. On this Saturday afternoon the voices were stilled as my other senses were sufficiently satisfied by the visual and aural feast laid here for apparently anybody and everybody with the adventuring spirit to sample. And at 4 on a Saturday that wasn't a ton of people so I had the side of the tall bar to myself until a few hours later when my party arrived on time. By 8 the joint was jumping. I paced myself like a wise polar bear. Wise because I got to thinking on the way down that the local constabulary probably had no reason to ply the upper drive, as the asphalt ribbon was itself a tortuous drunk test that if you fail maybe they'll find you a few days later at the bottom of the hill in a little metal pile next to the railroad tracks. Maybe. The warehouse at the end of the road next to said tracks isn't as old as the hills, but it's close. History sits at the bar and hangs all over the wall and you can procure some random bits for yourself in the little shop if you've lowered your tolerance and have a little extra room in the truck for a clown or dolls heads or all manner other interesting and useful stuff. I will be back, with a certainty, though in between I may petition Amtrak to consider making this a whistle-stop so as to lower the odds of becoming lonely metal art along the lost coast of the Carquinez. read more

This place is like a museum of odds and ends, the bizarre and beautiful with everything in between. The walls are interesting, the place is inviting and the drink list is impressive. What I have been waiting for? I'm much too distracted by the giant polar bear, interesting furniture and wall hangings to order my own drinks. Four of us took a 100mile ride here since its known as a motorcycle friendly place with scenic views. There was no wait for a table and about 5 people at the bar. As soon as we got to the table, a waitress/bartender insisted we wear masks "until we had food on our table". She scolded the 4 of us as we tried to find something to cover our faces with (we had bandanas and 1 mask). We were all respectful, veterans, working in medical facility or education - still masking and did not have a problem with complying. This woman was just so blatantly rude. She came back again with a very nasty attitude, saying "I don't care if the mandate was lifted, if you don't like it you can leave". Not sure if race was an issue, but we noticed there were guys at the bar without food and no mask. We were the only people of color in the place. We decided this was not a place we wanted to spend our money! read more

From wheat, potatoes and hay storage to Saloon The building that hosts Warehouse Cafe was built in late 1800s and use to store grain, potatoes , hay etc, but sometime after 1930s Port Costa hit on hard times and its population plummeted from a few thousands to a few hundreds and the building was closed. Fast forward to 1970s when the building is reopened as a bar and restaurant. Since then the Warehouse Cafe has been a not so secrete watering hole in San Francisco Bay Area. First time visitors may get intimidated by all the bikes and bikers that are hanging outside of the bar and turn around and leave, but those who do will miss a treat. The inside is a heaven for those who get a kick out of old little trinkets or bigger items like a stuffed polar bear! The most random small town in the bay ...we had heard about it and decided to check it out...this and the place across the street are the ONLY establishments in the one block business district except for the hotel across the street that I am sure is haunted ... We went on a saturday around noon ...hardly anyone there but by 5pm it was packed ..we had heard the prime rib was decent so we gave it a try ..not bad for a divey place..mine was cooked perfectly to my liking and was very tender and had decent flavor...no HOPR but decent..would order it again. I'm giving this place 5 starts because it makes up for EVERYTHING that is currently lacks in pizza. Skip the next paragraph for the good parts. Holy crap, this pizza is terrible and I feel awful for any establishment that has to live up to the discerning palate of an Italian New Yorker (Queens) that is my spouse. I, however, was born a few cities over from Port Costa to Caucasian parents, but what the actual fuck? Pretty sure they dumped canned, unseasoned, tomato sauce over ready-dough and sprinkled dried Oregano and pre-shredded mozzarella on top-then threw it in a pizza oven? Correct me if I'm wrong. In a sentence, l've had better pizza at Chuck E Cheese's Pizza Time Theater over in the Willow's shopping center in the 1980s. The Warehouse has the blandest pizza I've ever tasted and frankly the bartenders should warn you if order it and you appear sober. Just make English muffin pizzas with Ragu or frozen bagel bites for a better guest experience. Seriously though, yikes. I hope management reads this and corrects the crime they've committed on pizza. On the better notes, the drinks, the music, the locals and above all, the bartenders are fantastic. The burger was delightful and so was a grilled cheese we had in the summer. Just about everything else about this bar makes me happy. Just don't eat the pizza unless you're too trashed to remember. read more

Warehouse Cafe has become a must-visit whenever I travel to the Bay Area from the UK to visit my other half. It is a unique experience, and I have found the locals and staff very friendly. "We pour doubles unless otherwise requested." That's usually a good start to any drinking occasion, right? Port Costa is my new favorite place, and the balance struck between the Warehouse's gritty raucousness, and Bull Valley's vintage charm makes this a destination for all appetites. Start or finish your night at the Warehouse for pool-playing with the locals, jukebox wars (it's always country vs. hip-hop with our group), and cheap frou-frou drinks reminiscent of a hillbilly Spring Break. It's always lots of fun. There is a ton of space in here, and the decor reminds me of an old western saloon with carnival-esque flair. The food menu makes fun of bourgie dishes like "Cheese on a Board" (not to be confused with a cheese board, which sounds so pretentious). And wow, the penmanship on their chalkboard menus is impressive. Throughout the evening, the ominous stuffed polar bear will stare you down from behind his glass case. Sometimes, Port Costa feels so remote you could actually imagine a polar bear wandering through town, before being shot between the eyes, stuffed, and showcased for years to come. read more

Night Visit: Rolled here wit Trillmaster 3000 and the guitarist from At the Drive In. Not as in the cuts as I thought, we strolled through to a bar with a excellent selection of beer options. I started with the Long Island Ice Tea though and it provided a healthy buzz. Then I noticed the Stone IPA 22 oz for $7.00 Dats what I'm talkin' bout! Morning Visit: The local villagers informed us of Breakfast Burritos served at 10 am. I watched a cook stirring the eggs, sausage and other ingredients. I asked him a question and he said nothing. I could feel the music from " The Hills Have Eyes" beating in my heart. I talked with the bartender, Gina, about Horror movies after she scolded Dru for his smartass ways. Next thing I know the cook was walking around selling the burritos @ $5.00 apiece. Could be a bit bigger, but I drank coffee for free so I wasn't trippin. We sat outside, on perhaps old railroad ties forced into service as picnic tables, putting our marlboro lights out in Kirkland Coffee cans scattered about. There were a few proper picnic tables, and some benches repurposed from some other thing, I saw the rusty nails poking out. Don't get me wrong, I liked this place. It's unapologetic, it doesn't give a shit. Some people may have to open their minds more than others. But, yes, it's a drive, on unforgiving roads, so plan on a designated driver or to stay the night in Port Costa. read more
