Great place to grab good food and drinks. This is a classic spot in the area. They have a retro vibe as the decor is original. It adds to the atmosphere and I hope that they never remodel. It's like walking back in time. There is ample parking and an entrance for the bar or dining room. The bar area has lots of seating both along the actual bar itself, as well as other tables throughout and around the pool tables. The staff is super friendly and attentive even when they are very busy. There are lots of regulars and you can see that this place is a staple in the community based on the relaxed atmosphere and down to earth hospitality. They have pit beef/turkey/ham on weekends that are served on homemade rolls. They also have platter options. The menu also offers other things for lunch, as well as sides. The dinner menu has many other offerings as well. The bar has 6 beers on tap, as well as many other can/bottle options. The prices are very reasonable for what you get. Lots of items are homemade. Black Friday Lunch at Wargo's! Visiting friends in HarCo means lunch at the Legion or Wargo's! Yesterday was pit beef day but an outside sign "Best Corned Beef in Harford County" (paraphrased) tantalized me. I followed my buddy's lead and ordered the Wargo's Reuben. Thin sliced, no fat and probably the BEST Reuben I've had not just in Harford county but Metro Baltimore as well. Amazing! Wargo's, I understand, sources from a butcher in PA and not the kosher houses near Baltimore. The accompanying potato chips and pickle slices made the Sammy more enjoyable. Service friendly and top notch. Prices on the menu are reasonable and competitive. Atmosphere warm and inviting. For me at least, Wargo's is worth the 25 mile ride. Great food! My husband and I went there for his birthday dinner. We got the Pot of Gold for apps, my husband got a 12oz ribeye and I got the shrimp dinner, both came with two sides, I got beets and baked potatoes, my husband got mashed potatoes and carrots. Everything tasted good. The service was pretty fast also. Although the place was busy, we didn't really have to wait too long for the food. My family had a large dinner gathering here recently. I think there were 11 or 12 of us. The restaurant staff did a great job taking care of us. The waitress was attentive and got everything correct. The support staff was very helpful as well. We had a variety of food and everything came out tasty and hot. I had the clam strips with fries and a small portion of cole slaw. I also got a side of cole slaw as I did not know it came with some. The clam strips were flavorful and a good portion. Fries were crisp outside and soft inside. Nice cole slaw. Some of us started in the bar side of things to have a drink. Looks like a nice dive bar atmosphere with pool tables and TVs. Overall a nice meal with family. Good service and food. read more

This is known as a Harford County staple. We had a nice evening. It was very old school feeling in here, and very popular for families or older crowds. They have a full bar and a whole dining room. The prices are affordable. They're known for their pit beef, you can smell the pit walking in this place. The meat is fresh and they're also known for their fish being fresh as well. Their corn fritters, that are deep fried, cover in powders sugar that you dip in maple syrup. Wow. That was something different and so good. Would recommend. They make their rolls homemade here and they're fresh and warm. The meat here tastes great. I loved the corned beef. The roast beef was good and so was the ham! My dinner guest and I, in our late forties, were probably the youngest people in the dining room. That's not an accident here, I don't think. This restaurant has been around that long and clearly has a lot of regulars. The dining room is outdated, definitely. Very 70's vibe to it, complete with yacht rock in the background. So it was a bit jarring to see our server, who couldn't have been more than 16 at the most, come up and take our order. She was absolutely the sweetest thing, though, and was prompt and polite. I ordered a Reuben with chips, and a side of bacon cheese fries. Dinner guest ordered a hot roast beef sandwich and jalapeño poppers. The bacon cheese fries were tasty. Fries were hot and crispy, just like I like them, but it was pretty clear that the toppings were just bacon bits and shredded cheese out of a bag. It wasn't bad, just a little underwhelming. The Reuben, however, was damn near perfection. The ONLY thing that could have been improved was it needed a touch more dressing. But it was the perfect size, perfect taste, perfect balance. Very good. My companion also had no complaints about their food. The plates were absolutely clean. Our server, and others, were very pleasant and checked in on us regularly. Really, the only real downside was the outdated ambiance, plus the lack of air conditioning made it a little stuffy and hot inside. If that were updated, you'd have a 5 star review on your hands. Worth a visit. We'll probably come back again soon. read more

Wargo's has been around as long as I can remember and it had been a while since I last had food from here since I don't live in the area anymore. I was in town visiting my mom and she really wanted crab cakes. Got her some and I got a hot roast beef sandwich for myself. It was so good, and even going and picking it up to bring back home, things were still really fresh and hot. Looking at the previous reviews I feel like some people's experience was truly better than mine. A few friends of mine loved happy hour here. We use to go at least once a week when I was in town. When we would go it was never anything fancy. Just bar food with a a good amount of seafood. When we went as a group they did have pool tables, TVs, a dart board, and they have a coin juke machine to choose music. The service was normally just regular nothing too special. The best thing I truly remember is the trash cans (alcoholic drink!). They are amazing!! read more

Waitress was very responsive to our table and kept our drinks filled but food for many dishes was unseasoned and bland. For example, steak didn't even have any flavor and wasn't seared at all. I love pit beef and Wargo's is one of the best. I started going there when it was a shack in the gravel parking lot of the Moose Lodge back in the early '70s. They finally bought the Moose lodge and had a place to eat indoors. And then all through the Basilone's incarnation. Since Andy and Brenda took it over (in the 80s, I think), it's only gotten better. If you love pit beef, ham or turkey, you gotta try it. I like my beef sandwich as a combination of medium rare with some burnt ends on their homemade roll with sauce and onions. The rolls are as good as the beef. The rest of their menu is good too... fried oysters, crab cakes, Maryland crab soup (and cream of crab on Fridays). It's country inn style, nothing fancy. First time eating here. It was a Saturday night and they had BBQ (beef, ham - no pork). Ordered 3 sandwiches: 1) beef medium rare 2) beef with ham 3) beef medium. The sandwiches were served - no shit - on a freaking dinner roll. It looked like an appetizer from a wedding. AND it was dry meat. The onion rings were over saturated with oil, therefore wet and soggy after 5 minutes. And the bacons & cheese fries were dry as well. I mean almost crunchy dry like they had been in the fridge for 3 days and then re-heated. Bacon was real, though (that's the 1 star this review got). hmmmmm... a bad night? maybe. Wargo's is a quiet, no-frills backwoods-type of bar and restaurant. The food is pretty good, and pitchers of domestic beers are very cheap. There's a couple of pool tables and a jukebox in the bar, the restaurant section is clean and quaint, all-in-all it's not a bad place to go. Some of the Bel Air college kid crowd have recently located Wargo's on Friday and Saturday nights, but it's not too bad and pretty much never packed. Wargo's- I grew up in Bel Air, moved away in '07 to Nashville, TN Got a call from my father one weekend, telling me to come home to see my grandfather. He wasn't doing well. Came home and though Poppy's mind was sharp as a tack, but his body was failing. After arriving in Harford County, he and I went for a drive through the country and ended up stopping here. We got the burnt tips and two rounds of Blue Moon. Great food/drink, even better conversation about times past. We ate and drank, and left full and happy. I knew that this meal I had with him at your establishment would be my last with him on this earth. It was surreal and unlike anything I've experienced in my twenty-something years. His prayer over lunch is something I will never forget, us both knowing this would likely be our final prayer, final meal together. I returned to Nashville the next day heavy hearted, and two weeks later I returned for the celebration his life. It turns out that at your establishment I drank my grandfathers last beer of his life with him, after I'm sure many beers, many miles around the world in WW2, and many years of a happy life. His last beer was a blue moon here at Wargo's, and it was a damn good beer. THANK YOU. I will never forget our meal here.
