Gas fireplace insert (Valor Adorn) could no longer be controlled with the remote. The remote would raise the flame, but would not lower the flame anymore. Batteries were changed in the remote and in the receiver but that didn't solve the issue. I have to add at this point, that this unit is in a rental property and we are landlords who were unable to be on site at the time our tenants brought this to our attention. Laurie, a super communicator and troubleshooter, comes to the rescue. She has a few things to ask the tenants to look for, identify and test. She narrowed down the problem all via email and text. Once the inop part was identified, it was ordered. As soon as it arrived, Laurie called our tenant directly to make an appt for installation. Between Laurie and our (fantastic) tenants, they pretty much took care of things between just the two of them . . . all we needed to do was provide payment. This is so, so appreciated and valued as landlords who were unable to be present at the property at the time. Btw, I also have to add that our tenants had nothing but great things to say about Laurie's communication and the installation visit as well - - - on time, efficient, neat, polite and very courteous. From initial inquiry to repair, all was done within a couple of weeks. The epitome of efficiency. Other companies were booking over a month out and their $ and time estimates were almost double b/c they required one visit to troubleshoot then another to install/repair once they had the part. After our cat discovered missing bricks in our fireplace we knew we needed a safe and permanent seal. Moving boxes and tape weren't exactly a long-term solution. We called the company who had worked on the fireplace in our East Bay home and they recommended Warm Solutions, which serves SF. We're so glad we took their recommendation! Barbara got us on calendar quickly, the prices were reasonable, and the work quality is excellent. John came out first to assess our (many) challenges. We received an estimate a few days later and Barbara was able to schedule the work on a day that was convenient for us. John came on time and completed the repair in the estimated time at the quoted price. He replaced bricks, fixed crumbling mortar, and sealed the fireplace flu exactly as asked. He even painted the bricks and cap to match the existing brick color - I had expected to have to do that part myself - and left the house clean and neat. Our fireplaces are now safe and sealed, and as a delightfully unexpected bonus, no more drafts. PS - Dawn dish soap will safely remove soot from a cat. I would never give my business to this company. I spoke to Laurie about a project for my home one day outside of the office. Her rant on how Marin county is stupid and how overly fearful of Covid all residents were over the top! - (she was not wearing a mask in the midst of the shutdown). She was rude inconsiderate and actually insulted my partner and never asked me a thing about my project. Then I recently saw numerous posts she made on Next Door posting false information and basically confirming my initial thoughts. Fireplace installation was a month late with no heads up or contact from them. When they showed up to take a look at the fireplace before installation, they came before the agreed upon window, had a neighbor let them in, stayed for 5 mins, and didn't call me before leaving. I think if we had met in person some of the installation issues we had could have been avoided. Instead they were extremely unclear about many aspects of what we were getting and while our unit works, it's not what we wanted. It doesn't seem worth it to fight with them and ask them to make changes at this point, but the professionalism was completely lacking and next time I will definitely go somewhere else. Just to respond to Laurie's response- Joe absolutely did NOT meet with my contractor, who was also surprised that Joe came BEFORE the scheduled window as he wanted to meet him too. Joe was let in by our neighbor, stayed for less than 5 minutes, and left. Despite what Laurie says, they were quite unprofessional and this led to a lot of confusion down the line. And Laurie is being disingenuous when she says she provided us "with all the necessary info." She did give us the manual but we had a lot of questions about it. I had a VERY hard time getting responses from them and when I did they were not helpful, which led to the confusion which in all fairness she should take some of the responsibility for. I worked with a lot of contractors on our remodel and I would stay away from this business. read more

I've used them a couple of times. The last time was a few years ago. They only sent one guy. I was disappointed he didn't go up on the roof, so negative two stars. It completely ruined my Mary Poppins fantasy. The time before that they sent two young filthy guys who climbed up on the roof and made a lot of noise. One guy looked like a punk Dick Van Dyke. These guys were, to borrow a phrase, H-O-T. Anyway, the last time the one guy did a good job, it was $150 for the cleaning. We rarely use our fireplace anyway because it is such a pollutant. Literally use anyone else. Working with warm solutions was an absolute nightmare and I would've gladly hired anyone else to do the job but they have you sign a contract which they do not respect but they demand that you do or they will keep your deposit. They promised delivery within a certain timeframe which ended up taking months longer and for which they took no responsibility. While in a doctors appointment and unable to get back to the location, which I told the installer I was going to, she called me and berated me for not being there and then tried to keep the remote control for the unit that I had needed hostage because I could not pick up to pay because I was in said doctors appointment that I told her about 10 minutes prior. Every experience I had with the owner, Laurie, was hideous, I wish very very much I had never hired her. They knew that the item, a room stove, which delayed my ability to rent an apartment, would be arriving and did not schedule or hold any time for the installation instead of made me wait another two weeks. They are unprofessional and lack basic human decency and customer service. If there is any issue with the items they are providing or their ability to install or timeline, it will be your problem and not theirs. read more

A new tenant was moving into a rental of mine and inquired about using the zero clearance gas fireplace. I've owned the rental for over 20 plus years and the fireplace had never been used by any other tenants, so I decided to have a "professional company "(Warm Solutions) come out and advise and price out an appropriate gas log appliance that would provide a bit of heat and ambience that the new tenants desired. On Warm Solutions recommend we chose one. The installation seemingly went well with the exception of the initial ignition which seemed to "explode" when first turned on. I was told this was normal. Within the first couple of weeks of use the tenants noticed a "smell" emanating from the fireplace when on and a black discoloration of the new stone hearth and mantle appeared. The tenants immediately stopped use of the fireplace and I called Warm Solutions for some answers. What I got was a bunch of doublespeak from Laurie P. in the office. She blamed the problem on everything from using the fireplace while operating the furnace, operator error, not having a window open, operating it on a windy day, etc. etc. we finally were able to get her to send out some techs. but only after several cancellations on her part. They fired up the unit and did some testing. They took video while igniting the unit which clearly showed the flame rolling out and up the face of the hearth. I told them I thought the logs were too big for the zero clearance firebox. They had no answers for me at that particular time but days later Laurie P. claimed we needed a new flue cap and wanted to charge us an additional 900 dollars. At this point I contacted an independent fireplace inspector/tech who concluded that the appliance installed was incorrect for a zero clearance fireplace and was set up too close to the opening. The inspector was able to manipulate the existing oversized logs and push back the entire unit from the front and better align the flame with the flue above. This solved the problem temporarily but the inspector recommended having the correct appliance installed as should have occurred in the first place. Of course Warm Solutions is refusing to provide any relief for the problem and damage they created by installing the incorrect unit. Laurie P. In the office is combative and argumentative when theirs a problem. She is a master of deception and deflection by making up any excuse she can to lay the blame with the consumer if a problem arises. Would not recommend this incompetent and unprofessional company to my worst enemy. The name of the company should be "No Solutions ". I suspect Laurie. P. will have a rebuttal filled with falsehoods and blatant fabrications . Clearly they are unable to own up to their incompetence and ineptitudes. read more

My family has used Warm Solutions for chimney service and gas fireplaces so when we realized that no one had ever swept our chimney since it was installed in 1989, they were the first place I called. The staff on the phone were incredibly kind and helpful, scheduled us quickly, and when it turned out they had an earlier opening they moved our timeslot up (after checking that it worked for us, of course). The cleaning was quick, no mess inside the house, and the techs stayed masked the whole time. Upon inspection they found an issue with the chimney cap which they were able to show me with a photo and explain to me so I understood even though I have no idea how chimneys work. The replacement cap took some time to come in, but they just came and installed it in less than 30 minutes. Very pleased with their service, and now our fireplace is safe for another 30 years (with regular cleanings) - someday when there isn't already smoke in the air! read more

Run! I first contacted Laurie on March 30 for 2 fireplace glass doors and gas logs on behalf of a Potrero Hill client. And here we are on Sept 19, after months of phone calls, pleading, begging for progress, basic information and decent project management we were told by Barbara that they lost our measurements, never sent to the vendor, and would need to come out for a 3rd time next week to start all over. So we logically asked for a discount and instead Barbara told us she would cancel our contract altogether. It's probably a blessing but I have never worked with such a terrible vendor and feel embarrassed that my clients had to experience such incompetence. Horrible service. I had a fireplace installed underneath a tv that's recessed in my wall. The installers had come to my house and installed the fireplace without power hooked up to it. Not even telling the owner or the contractor that it needed power. Furthermore, the unit that was installed Was to close to the television for that model of fireplace. The installers did not let us know this. Now I have a melted 65 inch Samsung qled television. Warm solutions won't even let me swap out the insert with the proper one for the layout of the framed out hole for the tv. Now I'm stuck with a fireplace I can't use and have to pay 450 dollars for the correct one, let alone a melted tv. Thanks warm solutions DO NOT GO HERE!!! read more

I purchased a glass door from this vendor for my masonary fireplace. I kept calling to get get an ETA on the glass and kept being told that they would call me back (which never happened). After a few attempts of calling, someone told me to "call the manufacture yourself." I told him that I'm not a vendor and that's something they should be doing. If I wanted to call the manufacture, I wouldnt be going through them. The guy responded with, "Well, what do you want me to do about it? I dont know what part you're not getting." --- What kind of customer service is that?!! I was tempted to cancel my order on the spot but I didnt want to wait another several weeks to get the glass. I have a pre-fab (not masonry) fireplace in my condo and needed new fireplace doors. I checked online and at Home Depot and Lowes, and unfortunately, you cannot use pre-made doors on pre-fab fireplaces - you could end up burning your house down! I called a couple of places in SF - one never returned my calls, and the other told me I couldn't get replacement doors (which have to be custom made) for less than $1200, and they couldn't come out to measure for another 3-4 weeks. Then I went to the Warm Solutions store. I made an appointment to get my fireplace measured that week, and here it is about 3-4 weeks later, and I have beautiful new fireplace doors, exactly what I wanted, completely installed, for less than $1000! I'm very happy with the end result. The guys who came to install the doors were on time, very polite, and cleaned up after themselves completely. When you've been working on a home improvement project for awhile, this is something you really come to appreciate! I would definitely recommend Warm Solutions to a friend. read more

Warm solutions was great. After a horrible experience from a competitor where I was getting the runaround with no real progress, I found warm solutions and decided to pop in for a visit. Don't be put off by their showroom - it favors function over being fancy. Barbara was incredibly nice and helped us confirm that our desired unit would work in our fireplace opening. The insert was estimated to arrive 1 week later and it took closer to 2. The manufacturer had recently switched to a different shipping provider which may have explained the delay. This was not warm solution's fault though. My insert arrived in pristine shape with no damage whatsoever. I'd gladly do business with Warm Solutions again. I did feel like they were hard to get ahold of on the phone sometimes, and I wished that they had more concrete information on the estimated arrival time for my order, but these are relatively minor issues, maybe even ones that were out of Warm Solution's control. read more

I just used them this week, as did 3 other units in our building. They sent 2 people, seemed very knowledgable, and did an excellent job. The work was done from the roof while each fireplace was closed off for the cleaning. One person who had left their keys for me to let them in could not tell they'd been except for the inspection sticker lert in her unit. This company is the WORST! I am the first to write something good but let me tell you what happened. I had an old chimney cap that revolved to take out the smoke. I called them to install a new one. Their man installed one that didn't turn and said "YOU DON"T NEED ONE THAT TURNS." I paid 275$.. Well he left, I started a fire and guess what, my entire house was smoked. I called them and asked them to change it to new one that revolves. They said that they would not allow me to return it, give a credit of 100$ instead of the entire refund... and I would still need to 375$ for the new one. So I am out a few hundred dollars!!! Joe came out to give me a quote, shared some ideas of how to make our fireplace look more modern, but the staff at their office did not even quote that (got a quote to install a safety starter and nothing more). I installed a Valor G4 fireplace insert in April 2012. Joe came out initially for measurements and advise on what model(s) would fit best the space. I am completely satisfied with the outcome. The installation technician (Reno) did a very clean and professional job. Barbara and Joe's wife (can't recall her name) have been very helpful throughout the process, including pulling the permit which I did myself to save a few $$. I used their recommended plumber (Paul Stefas) to do the gas line. That was easy and clean, too. The unit works beautifully, heats up what used to be a very cold room very efficiently.
