This was a quick tour. I loved the cold beer they offered. I just had a glass but if you were quick you could probably have two or three. It had a brief video clip of the Clydesdales in action. They had one you could pet and you could see several outdoors and some babies with their moms inside. You can look in the trailers they travel in as well as see one ov the carts they pull. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and told us interesting facts. A nice gift shop where I got beer merchandise for gifts and farm magnets for a wee one I love. This ranch is magical! The grounds are ridiculously manicured and luxurious. Our tour was wonderful, thanks to Jenna. She was knowledgeable and endearing throughout. I'm not much of a beer drinker, however the ice-cold complimentary Bud was too tempting to pass up. We were fortunate to see a few babies in their stalls--one was just waking up and nursing. The information provided on the tour is fascinating and will likely leave you wanting to know even more. We were in town for a wedding and decided to come out for a tour. We were so glad we did. The farm was beautiful and the staff were so warm and welcoming. First stop petting the horses who greet you at the fence and on to an informative and entertaining tour. Caroline was our guide and she did a great job. You can tell she really loves her job and she's so knowledgeable. Plus she didn't mind answering all our constant questions. I highly suggest going on this to her. We came here on Monday. The tour is $10 and you get 2 free beers and a photo opp at the end. The tour is good and informative. If you go in the winter dress appropriately as the barn was pretty chilly on Monday. While I really liked the tour, there's not a whole lot to do after. I'd recommend this as a pit stop on your way to/from Colombia, St. Louis, or HErmann. We had come from KC. There is a winery about 10 min away that was pretty good (no food served Monday's). read more

Came here on a Tuesday for the 2 pm tour. My dad who lives in KC had bought the tickets months ago. We got there early (thanks to my lead foot) and had some time to take pictures by the WSR (rescued from the old Budweiser sign) and see some horses that were in the pasture. While we were waiting there were some horses out with the wagon so we got to see them as they came in and then went back to the barn. Finally we got to go to the barn and the tour started. Lana started us off and was super friendly and knowledgeable about the horses and the ranch. Kayla was our other tour guide and just as friendly and helpful. We got the see the mares who are "on deck" meaning a foal can come any time in the next 60 days. We were lucky enough to be there after a foal had been born at 11:30pm the previous night. The tour takes you in and out of the barn so you can see the various parts of the ranch. We got to see the horses getting a bath after being out with the wagon. They passed around the horse shoes (used and new) and we got to see the travel trucks the horses ride in while going to events. The last part of the tour was seeing the mares and foals, then FREE BEER and getting to pet and take pictures with a Clydesdale. The Clydesdale we met today was Stan who was in the Beer Country commercial (you can find on youtube). Also was told to look at the "behind the scenes" video to see how they trained the 5 horses in the video to do their part. I will say the tour with my 3.5 year old was a bit much. She was wanting to go and look at things and talk over the tour guides. They were understanding and I think most people in our group were but who knows. read more

My sister and I took the 1-hour guided walking tour of the Clydesdale breeding facility at Warm Springs Ranch outside of Boonville, and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! A quick note to visitors, especially in the summer: reservations for the tours are easy to make online or on the phone, and are necessary to guarantee your place. Since the tours are limited in the number of people accommodated (for the well-being of the horses), there are often no opportunities for walk-on visitors. The grounds are simply lovely, with acres of rolling grassland for the horses to graze on. The tours cover the two main barns, which house the breeding room, laboratory (for genetic testing and similar procedures), weighing/exam room, labor stalls, maternity stalls (with the mares and their foals housed together), and stalls for visiting hitch team horses. We were able to see three foals born just three months earlier, along with their mothers, and the visiting hitch team from Colorado (and their two dalmatians!). The staff are extremely respectful of the horses they care for, and gently but firmly watch out for their wellbeing. Visitors may look at, but not pet or feed, the horses; we are reminded that these are thoroughbreds and not designed for hundreds of pairs of hands touching them each day. Many kudos to our tour guide, Alee; she was VERY patient with our tour group, even those members who tried to pet the horses or wander away from the group. She was a font of information and provided all manner of cool trivia (did you know a newborn Clydesdale weighs, on average, 150 pounds?!), including the hitch schedule and the typical life of a Clydesdale team on the road. She took her time as we passed through all the areas of the barns, giving us plenty of time to linger and look at the lovely horses and all the other interesting items (like hitching tackle). We were amazed to learn that she'd only been on the job for a few weeks! She was poised and confident and friendly and approachable and really a delight to listen to and follow around. She answered dozens of questions quite happily and was genuinely interested in ensuring that all of us were enjoying ourselves. MANY thanks to Alee for such a great tour! As we drove toward the barns, we saw a bald eagle diving for fish in the lake on the property, and as we drove out at the end of the tour, there was a group of mares and their foals grazing at the fence right by the road. This was a unique and informative tour. You get to meet and learn a lot about the horses, including their history and how they're cared for. There isn't a lot of walking involved, and some of the tour "stops" are indoors, which is nice if you're visiting on a hot day (like we did). Your ticket also includes two beers per person at the end of the tour, and an opportunity to take a photo with one of the Clydesdales. So why only four stars? We weren't impressed with one of our tour guides (Jason), who frankly came off as condescending and rude. When folks asked questions, he responded as if he was annoyed by them. He also served beer at the end of the tour, and acted like he couldn't be bothered to talk to anyone. (Example: When I went up to get my second beer, he apparently decided which of the two beers I wanted, started pouring it before I could stop him, and handed it to me without saying a word or even making eye contact.) For what it's worth, our other tour guide (unfortunately I can't recall her name) was friendlier. Anyway, it's worth a stop if you're in the area -- and hopefully you'll feel more welcome than we did. PS: Be forewarned that the gift shop is absurdly overpriced. ($45 for a ladies' tanktop? We'd gone to Kansas City for the Harry S. Truman Presidential Library the day before and my Dad had suggested we try to visit the Warm Springs Ranch. The visit to the ranch alone would have made the trip worthwhile. Having a cold Budweiser at the start of the tour, getting to see these beautiful horses up close, and seeing the care and attention paid to every aspect of taking care of the horses made this a fantastic experience. I am so glad that somebody told me about this place! I wasn't amazing place to visit, especially since we went at Christmas time. They had food trucks and hot apple cider since it was cold out. We loved getting to see all of the different areas that they put the baby Clydesdale horses in and the process it takes to raise them. Every employee was super helpful and kind to us. Whether it is Christmas or not, this is such a fun place to visit either as adults or with kids. I still cannot get over how beautifully everything was decorated during Christmas time. read more
