I've brought my children there for years. His practice has a good reputation and most people I know in the Fairport area, go there. We've always found it to be a warm and inviting environment, with caring staff. Shortly after COVID hit, my daughter started complaining of a toothache. I sent a picture of her mouth and within moments, there was a prescription for antibiotics, as well as a follow up call with care tips, to help tie us over until offices can safely reopen. read more

I just had a phone conversation with my mom about my little sisters experience at Dr. Waldow's office. My mom isn't great at phone/internet stuff, but after the conversation I felt obligated to leave a review. 1) My little sister has an extreme fear of doctors. She had a severe medical issue when she was 2 which left her having anxiety attacks about going to any doctor ever since. 2) My little sister has a slightly deviated septum which makes breathing through her nose EXTREMELY difficult. My mom thought since Dr. Waldow claimed to be a a doctor who specialized in children with fears similar to my little sister's, that he would be a great choice...sad to say that didn't work out as expected. Not only did my mom not feel comfortable to leave the room, Dr. Waldow didn't seem to understand that my little sister couldn't breath through her nose. Even though my mom repeated herself over and over again, he continued to use methods that inhibited breathing through her mouth, making my little sister feel as if she was being suffocated and increasing her fear of doctors(rightfully so!) To top it all, they tried giving her anesthesia, but because she couldn't breathe through her nose, it wasn't effective! Dr. Waldow, please listen to parents, they might know more about their child than you do. And for the sake of your current clients, maybe practice some compassion and understanding. read more

My daughter has been seeing a family dentist regularly since she was very little. When it came time to have her first cavity filled I decided to try Dr. Waldow's Waterloo office thinking she would be most comfortable in a place that specialized in children's care. I became concerned when Dr. Waldow recommended more work than our regular dentist told me was needed. When I said I would like to talk to our regular dentist before moving ahead on all the additional work, Dr. Waldow became very condescending. He basically let me know that any mother with an ounce of sense would agree to his recommendation without question. When I insisted that I would feel more comfortable about it if I could just talk with my family dentist, Dr. Waldow told me he wouldn't fill my daughter's cavity unless I first agreed to follow his orders and have the other work done. That kind of pressure just didn't seem normal. I left Dr. Waldow's office feeling demeaned, bullied, and upset that my daughter hadn't been able to have her cavity filled. After thinking it over at home, it seemed like it might be a good idea to get a third opinion on my daughter's situation. We tried Eaves Family Dental in Geneva and had a wonderful experience there. So totally different - informative, friendly, helpful. We've since moved whole family to Eaves, and I remain REALLY glad I trusted my instincts in Dr. Waldow's office. read more

I had a very similar experience today at dr waldows,office my children absolutely loved his office and we were so excited to have found an amazing pediatric dentist or so we thought . Today my daughter was supposed to have two cavities filled this being her second appointment.we had set up the first being for one cavity and today for two .after a whole two minutes of work on her and finishing out her first cavity he told me we would set up a another appointment for the third cavity,when I asked him if we could please just finish her last cavity now since we are already here and since she has been nervous all week and not wanting to come back to have more cavities filled again . He got up in my face and was so disrespectful , he told me it was a dangerous situation and he could easily cut her tongue off and that I am unreasonable for even asking to ask him to finish her last filling . When I tried to explain to him that I was asking this of him because she is so fearful he continued to tell me that I am unreasonable and to find a different dentist office all while throwing his gloves down (all this time I had not ever raised my voice or been rude to him ) this conversation was only about a minute long and when I asked him how it had escalated to this point and why he was being so rude to me when I was just asking a question and trying to be the best mom to my daughter that I could be he stormed out of the room (not having even checked on my daughter and how she was doing ) and continued to make a scene in the hall of his office saying I am done with this I won't deal with this . The hygienists at the office were Fantastic but you could tell they were absolutely mortified but did take his side in the end and told me it's probably because he doesn't like being questioned .i also didn't appreciate the first time she was getting her cavities filled being told to sit on the bench and to be quiet in a very rude stern voice and let everyone else handle it and not come by my daughter (I assumed it was to make sure the process went well and not to make things more nerve wrecking ) needless to say we will not be going back again . We are beyond disappointed as we thought we had found a fantastic place to take our children ! read more

Very similar experience to previous review. The difference is that I have been taking my kids to Dr. Waldow for 7 years. I've never questioned recommended procedures, today was the first time I did so. Asked if my daughter really needed a filling on a baby tooth. I clearly hit a nerve in his ego because he got in my face and yelled at me, saying he doesn't need our business if I don't like his recommendations. Did this in front of my kids and everyone else there. Continued to degrade me by calling me "honey". As we were walking out, he screamed "no more appointments for them!" It was an unbelievable experience! I am still rattled. I definitely got the "oh no, here we go again" vibe from the staff. Also received call from a friend later that day who saw my post on social media, and, although I did not post his name, she knew immediately as her experience a couple years before had been nearly identical. read more
