We love the variety of delicious flavors available, but it's difficult to stray from something so obviously consistently delicious. Service is always friendly and helpful with welcome input as to recommended items and also educational. Cafe is quaint and cozy with a nice atmosphere to linger for a while without feeling rushed. Looking forward to return visits.

Boba shop... where East meets West [New Albany IN]…read more Unlike in California we seem to have a boba shop in every corner. We searched for a boba shop nearby (and even not so nearby) and Mochi Wren Boba & Bakery in downtown New Albany came up at the top of the list offering an authentic variety of popular boba tea, coffee, and latte options and also a fusion yummy array of traditional Asian baked goods. Okay, let's go... Not far from Boomtown Kitchen and New Albany Candy Shoppe we walked to this boba cafe. It was a quiet Saturday evening and the we were the only ones in the shop the entire time we were there. We chose coconut milk tea and strawberry fruit tea for our drinks and on the bakery side we got the last two egg tarts left and a chocolate cake roll slice. I love egg tarts and theirs was just like the Hong Kong-style version of the ones we get in San Francisco Chinatown, lightly sweetened, flaky, buttery pastry and smooth. As far as the drinks we both love smoothie or blended drinks and sadly they did not offer this... hopefully, they can add this option to their menu in the future. Instagram: @mochi_wren Review #3879

There's only 1 size and you can adjust the sweetness level. 50% sweetness was plenty sweet to me. 3.75/5 SERVICE: Not the friendliest guy. I asked him what nata jelly was and he just pointed to the wall with a picture. They don't take phone orders, I tried calling ahead of time to save myself some time. 3/5 FINAL THOUGHTS: I would come back for my boba cravings as it's the only boba place around that I know of.

Definitely not a romantic place, as there is no place to sit and there are boxes of supplies stacked everywhere. You have enough options (all kinds of tea, milk or no milk, fruit or no fruit, tapioca or jelly, etc). You can customize sweetness. Sometimes those black tapioca pearls are sold out towards the end of the day. Owner is a man of very few words. I might even call him Boba Nazi, much like Soup Nazi from the Seinfeld. You need to know what you are going to get and don't expect a warm and fuzzy interaction. Is he mean? No, I don't think he is mean. He is a little blunt, which is further complicated by his limited English fluency. Is he good at what he does? Definitely! My son and I just stand there and watch him prepare our drinks every time we go. We are mesmerized by his precision and mad skills. We secretly call him the mixologist. In all honesty, I'd encourage everyone to try his creations. Go in with realistic expectations. Give your kids a little heads up before you go in for the first time and let them know the owner isn't mad at them or the world. If you want warm and fuzzy interactions, there is a Starbucks down the road.

The menu is pretty extensive with food as well as drinks. We ordered the Jade Whisper and Island Time. They were both good and reasonably priced considering they include toppings. I absolutely enjoy trying out new tea or boba sports and I'd never heard of The Bep Teahouse before…read moreso I decided to go and check them out. Their menu can be a bit overwhelming with their assortment of various teas, machas and boba among others but thankfully the member of staff that was working was very friendly and helpful on letting me now exactly what to expect with each drink that I inquired about. I decided to try their Kyoto Matcha Brulee which is an iced milk tea and it tasted very delicious and not too terribly sweet. The vibe here is very chill with lots of places to sit and also makes for a really great place to bring friends and even a card game or two to play while enjoying a tasty drink. The pricing is pretty on par with what I'd expect of such place with drinks averaging around $6-8 dollars but you do get quite a lot for what you pay for. I definitely recommend checking out The Bep if you're a fan of any sort of tea or matcha as I feel you won't be disappointed.
