The building has a bright green sign out front and the inside seemed more lively than a traditional sushi restaurant. Great atmosphere with classy look. We were greeted by a kind hostess and taken to a booth. Our waitress was prompt in greeting us and taking our drink orders. We opted for a couple of appetizers- spring rolls and bang bang shrimp. Both were commercially purchased. They were good but we could tell they were not made in house. I chose a sushi roll which they were willing to customize for me. My mother ordered steak and scallop hibachi entree. The hibachi entree was plentiful with a lovely presentation and very flavorful. My sushi roll was a disappointment. I've had some pretty amazing sushi and this fell near the bottom for quality. The wasabi was watered down, the cream cheese in my sushi roll also seemed watered down. The crunch coating was not crumbly as most crunch is - it was a thin pressed on coating. The eel sauce was watered down and very light brown in color. Recommendation: go for the hibachi but research for a better sushi place. read more

Can't believe I never found this hidden gem in the 3 years it's been open! Tucked away off Burkhardt Avenue directly across from Fresh Thyme. But now that I have dined here, I will be a regular! The atmosphere is soothing yet fun with great background music. Everything is spotlessly clean even though I came in during a busy lunch period. All of the chefs and cooks I observed were Asian, which I consider a good sign in an Asian restaurant! The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is it was a bit salty for my taste and the steamed rice was bland. Fried rice is an option. Also, the hot tea was brought to me with a tea bag and mug of hot water and I prefer already brewed tea. My waitress Kim was excellent - efficient and friendly without being intrusive. Everytime we order wasabi at work it is never correct. T he receipt has the correct order but the food is incorrect. Do better.

Attempted to eat at Wasabi today (Sun 4/6). Was told the wait would be 20 mins, which was acceptable. We waited our turn and watched as 3 other 2 person tables were sat before us. When we asked the hostess she said "your next, promise". When we pointed out that 3 other small tables had been sat, she smiled and said "sorry about that" without any genuine apology or acknowledgment that a mistake had been made. But Wasabi screwed up my order and tried to blame it on "a new system" before getting the manager. The add-on to my entree was left off and the disappointment was fierce. Wasabi is so low-price for great sushi and hibachi dinners! We were blown away by the "half price sushi all the time" and it turned out to be true. And the sushi rolls had 10 pieces of sushi! Being from Indianapolis, this was a steal. I opted for the teriyaki chicken hibachi dinner and as you can see, the portion was huge. I ate it for three different meals! Only $13.49 and came with miso soup AND salad. Service was really good too although they were really busy when I went (a Friday night). Definitely a different vibe inside from what I was expecting looking at the outside - it's in a strip mall but inside nice roomy booths and fun chandeliers. So it's Jan 2021 and Covid is still going strong. Staff that I saw were wearing masks. This place was PACKED. No limiting to the seating but they ask that you limit you visit to an hour. Other places in Evansville had alternate seating to accommodate for 6 foot rule but not here. Also limiting your visit to 1 hour is kind of hard to do that when it takes a while for your food to come out. Apps Gyoza app came out but was not hot so probably waiting in the window a bit. The crab Rangoon appetizer was tasty and not oily. I would have liked more filling but it was good tasting for sure. Sushi If you order sushi and are in a rush, be warned that customers that order the hibachi will get their food before your sushi comes out. Wasabi on the plate but no ginger. Just ask. Great ginger too. So the Hawaiian (mango on top) was delicious. The Snow ball (white) was good. The Special Jack was a bit mushy but tasted good. A bit spicy so for those that don't do spicy, steer clear. I would not recommend getting these three in a combo again since their consistency is all similar. A crunchy option would have been a better selection on my part. The avocado used was a bit brown and mushy so had to deduct a star. Wait Staff and Bussing They have bussers so when you tip, think of them as well. Wait staff checked on us a few times and refilled the beverage without having to ask for it. Price / Value I would recommend coming back again for sure. So two apps, side salad, 3 sushi rolls al for less than $35. Good value. Tipping Waitstaff splits the tip with the busser and with the sushi chefs. Front of the house (hostess) does not get part of the tip. So keep all that staff in mind when you tip, especially if you had a good experience. Our hostess picked up some plates and also took the order for the impromptu side salad so we tipped her directly. read more

Summary. Fair. I will give it one more chance. Detail. These are awkward times. The atmosphere is pretty nice. The plywood plexiglass dividers are pretty trashy. But that's COVID. Hostess seated me promptly. The sever was very good. Just attentive enough I never had to wait. I have to agree with one of the other reviews. The Maki roll was lackluster. The rice was wet and not sticky. The fish was bland and seemed like it was cut in advance and sitting in water. I get better rolls at Fresh Market. To be fair. They are cheap. Perhaps if they didn't have 50% off they could have better quality. I'll give it another try my next trip to Evansville. But right now if you're looking for sushi or sashimi I would recommend going elsewhere and paying more. read more

There were three of us and all the food came out at different times. Our waitress struggled, she didn't refill drinks and wasn't attentive. We had to wait a very long time to get our bill, and then the waitress didn't come back timely to get our payment. The other server Melissa was creating a bad experience. When trying to talk and resolving this to John nothing got done.
