Triple Crown Special Roll
Mike S.

Took us to long to finally get to Nomu but after this trip I know i will not take long for us to return. We made a reservation for an early Friday Night dinner and I highly suggest making that reservation because it books up very fast. Once seated we ordered a few appetizers and food to share with the table. We went with: Karaage Takoyaki Miso Creamy Mentaiko Udo The Chicken Karaage was crispy and came out nice and hot plus had a great crunch. I did wish I came with a sauce for dipping. This was my first time having Takoyaki and I actually really enjoyed it and it's for sure a must try. Plus at $7 you gotta try it. The Miso Creamy Mentaiko Udo was a complete game changer and one of the best dishes of the night and first sure must try. Plus it's not like it's something you can get at most Japanese restaurants in the first place. It is for sure a little tough to eat with chopsticks but it's so worth it. The flavors just paired together so well and I wasn't expecting it to work that well. For my entree their were a number of Special Sushi Rolls that sounded amazing but I had to get the newest addition to the menu, that being the Triple Crown which was loaded with fresh fish and one of the best sushi rolls I have ever had. It comes with Bluefin Tuna, King Salmon, Yellow Tail Belly, Tobiko, Spicy Mayo, Avocado, Fried Onions, Wasabi Sauce, wrapped in Soy Paper, Chef's kiss a must try roll. I also go an order of the Otoro ( Tuna Belly) Sashimi that was market price at $28 for 3 pieces. It was fatty and very buttery but it was also a little stringy from the fatty which surprised me. If I had to pick a favorite it had to be the Triple Crown there. Ashley got the Wagyu Don with the Japanese A5 and that was one of the best pieces of beef I have every had. So tender and just melts in your mouth it was amazing. There are so many great options at Nomu and was haven't even cracked the surface so I know we will be back soon.

Had a great experience at Nomu Izakaya! The food was really good, and you could definitely tell the sushi was fresh. Everything we ordered was full of flavor and beautifully presented. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, and the service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. If you're looking for fresh sushi and delicious Japanese food in Jacksonville, I definitely recommend giving Nomu Izakaya a try. I'll definitely be back!

Best late-night spot in Jacksonville! I've been coming here since opening day, and it's still one of my favorite places to hang out with friends. We usually stop by at night, and the vibes are always on point. The staff is genuinely friendly, the atmosphere is relaxed, and it's just a fun place to spend the evening. For their one-year anniversary, they hosted karaoke, and it was such a great time! I really hope they make it a regular event because it added so much to the experience. The matcha tiramisu is an absolute must-order--I get it every single visit. Honestly, everything I've tried has been delicious, fresh, and full of flavor. If you're looking for a chill late-night spot with great food, desserts, and a welcoming atmosphere, this place is definitely worth checking out.

Went here with my coworkers and we all had a great time. The restaurant is very nice inside, a slight feel of Japan for sure. The food came out quick, fresh, and it was all delicious! The star of the show for me was the Ube cocktail. I'll go back just for that.

Great ambiance and delicious food We ordered sushi, edamame, brussel sprouts and a ton of grilled screwers and alcoholic beverages. Make sure before going to make a reservation. When you walk in you feel like you walked into another universe. The food also tasted very fresh and authentic. Highly recommend

Ambience & decor are wonderful. Elegant & casual at the same time. Stylish & approachable. The food is great. Great flavor on all the dishes we tried. Intentional seasoning that elevates dishes we've tasted before. And some recipes that aren't common fare. The nigiri was expensive -but worth it. Once you've had it, the price makes sense. This isn't Publix sushi. This is quality stuff. Some of the best I've tried in Jacksonville. The drink menu is above average! Great cocktails. An excellent sake menu that makes it easy for newbies. And a Japanese whisky menu that shows curation & a sophisticated edge over other Japanese restaurants. The service was excellent. All the staff were courteous & polite- looking like they are just doing their job diligently. But every team member we interacted with justa little extra (from the server, to the bartender, to the wait staff, to the host), opened up & treated us like we were diners that had visited 100 times before. We even shared vacation stories about a specific brand of Japanese whisky with the bartender who asked me to wait a few minutes while the delivery of whisky I ordered was completed so he could break open the box for me! It's extra things like this that make a place feel like more than a restaurant!

I've visited twice within 3 days of each other! Both times have been absolutely excellent. I was so impressed, I raved about everything to a friend and he was hyped to go. Truth be told, I've been waiting for something of this caliber to open in Jacksonville, as I'm from Chicago and very accustomed to restaurants of this quality. Service was excellent, especially while sitting at the bar. We had an uber friendly server named Ernie, who made the visit that more enjoyable. The first visit I went with a couple and tried the husband's dish, which was the Japanese Beef Curry. That too is going to be added to the list of dishes I will purchase. The best thing on the menu for me hands down was the Yakisoba with chicken. My friend ordered the shrimp version, which he found quite tasty, but said next visit he would definitely get the chicken version! All in all, I know a winner when I see one! Looking forward to more visits in the near future.

Down and Dirty: good serve, decent food, limited menu. Not sure I will go here again as there are better Asian Fusion type spots in the area. Service/Atmosphere: Our server was great, gave great recommendations, efficient service, and friendly. We did not have reservations and, even though they said there was a 35 minute wait, we were sat in less than 10 minutes. Food/Price/Selection: We ordered a few apps/skewers and rolls. We also ordered the chicken teriyaki rice bowl. Everything tasted good but nothing special. Pricing was okay for what we ordered.

Delicious food, AMAZING service, and yummy cocktails! We tried this place for the first time and were very impressed with the flavors. The vibes are chill with super helpful and friendly service. The only issue is the portion sizes were inconsistent. I got yakisoba which was a perfect size. My son got beef teriyaki and the bowl was really small. It was yummy but it was a much smaller portion. The food, ambiance, service and cocktails were so good, that I'd still give it 4.5 stars. But I'd rather round up than down so in the end ...5 stars it is!

We were a party of 18 and Nomu was ready for us! The vibe is fun. Menu is straight forward including delicious sushi rolls. Staff was on point and kept tabs separated with no payment issues. I will be back to try more of the delicious menu!

Kaiyo Tuna - best bite of the night
Edward A.

Finally made it to this place and it lives up to the hype. Interior is casually decorated - nothing too overstated or overdone - a little brightly lit. We ordered a lot as you can see from the pics. No pics of Karaage, Chilean sea bass, or Wagyu don which were all great but the bite of the night was the Kaiyo tuna. The Chilean sea bass was a close second for sure. Great service from the team as food came out quickly and plates were taken up efficiently as well. It was a very good group effort. Six people qualified as a large party so the gratuity was automatically added. This wasn't shared so I'm glad I checked.

Really high quality food. Not a single thing disappointed. I wanted to stay and order more food all night long. I also got wings to go that were some of the best I've ever gotten. Great ambiance. The service was a little slow but they were slammed so I understand.

Trio No Maki sushi
Lynna I.

I was here last month to celebrate a friend's birthday. This was my second time here. I got the trio no maki sushi and some kushiyaki (chicken meatball, beef short rib, and corn). Also had an azure breeze cocktail. It helps to come with a bunch of friends so you can order different plates and share it with everyone so they can try all the dishes. The service was great, no complaints here.

We dined in for my birthday and we had a great time, everyone was very friendly and very very nice…read more The hostess even checked with the Chef weeks before I made a reservation to ask if they could accommodate me because I have Celiac Disease (I highly recommend calling beforehand). She also gave me directions to the restaurant because it was in a plaza and I wasn't from the area and didn't want to be late. The omakase experience here and the sake tasting was fantastic. Every dish was so precisely made and plated and we got tonwatch it all from the Chef'scounter. We were given explanations for everything we had that night and they made everything gluten-free because two of us that night were gluten-free. The omakase is in the back of the restaurant as well sectioned off from the main restaurant and bar. The space is beautiful and it even has and outdoors seating area with a large (maybe fake) Sakura tree. They made my birthday dinner very special and I appreciated that a lot. The sake tasting was also just as fantastic. The sommolier explained every sake and even let me take a quick photo of the bottle so I would be able to remember it. The Final dish was a gluten-free cheesecake. If I lived in JAX I would come here all the time. I highly recommend it! Everyone was great and all the food was fantastic.

Solo lunch dates are my favorite way to discover hidden gems, and Oishii did not disappoint…read more I came in craving two very specific things: chicken yakisoba and yellowtail hamachi. Luckily, Oishii had both. This is definitely a hole-in-the-wall sushi spot, but honestly, those are usually the places with the best food. I started with the miso soup, then ordered the chicken yakisoba and yellowtail hamachi. The yakisoba instantly took me back to Little Tokyo in Los Angeles...it had that authentic flavor that's surprisingly hard to find. The yellowtail was incredibly fresh, buttery, and exactly what I was hoping for. The service was friendly, the food came out quickly, and everything hit the spot. Oishii has officially earned a spot on my favorites list, and I'll definitely be back the next time a yakisoba craving hits.

Still love Oishii!…read more I'm pleased to report that after coming here for years, the food quality and service is still just as good as it was in the beginning. I love that they offer lunch specials even on Saturday. We ordered the hibachi chicken for my 19 month old twins and they devoured it. Toddler approved! We also ordered the takoyaki and 3 roll sushi lunch with a Boston roll, rock & roll, and dynamite. Everything was well made and delicious! Service was great and they were very accommodating to our boys. They loved interacting with our server. Absolutely recommend!

This place rules. I highly recommend it to everyone. First of all, they have the best edamame I…read morehave ever had by far. It may seem odd to mention that in a review for a steakhouse, especially when their steak is also absolutely stellar, but it is really that good. The hibachi chef was skilled both as a chef and as a performer and all the food was cooked perfectly. The prices are also very low for the amount of food you receive - $37 buys 10oz of filet mignon (which is already a better price than a lot of steakhouses) but that then also comes with a huge quantity of rice, noodles, and vegetables, as well as a salad and a soup. We ate our fill and then also had like a week's worth of leftovers. It's certainly not somewhere we can afford to come super often, but it's an excellent deal for what you receive. One thing to keep in mind though is it's really cold in there, presumably so that working with the hibachi all day can be tolerable. Since customers don't stand over the hot grill the whole time you should bring a sweater.

*To-Go Review*…read more Placing our order by phone, the quote for pick up less relatively fast. However, upon arriving the hostess/cashier, we quickly determined that there were missing items from our order. Debating the correctness of the order, I had to vehently restate what I ordered vs what her response was, before she'd admit her error. So I'm not only did we have to wait another 20 minutes to get the rest of our order filled. I was quite disappointed to see that they lump an extra 10% onto your final balance discretely, with no option to negate it. To rate the cuisine, the food was mid at best... definitely nothing to write home about. After the lackluster experience, I would not recommend this establishment.
