The edmame is heavy with the garlic, so do keep in mind that your breath will smell like jarlic ok? You have been warned. You could also make the edmame spicy, but that's an extra charge! The seaweed salad? It has a bit of twang to it, so it's lightly sour. No overpowering though like the ones you'd have at a grocery store. Now the star of the dinner my bae and I had... The spicy yellowtail was not that spicy for me, by partner though? He had to take his break hahaha. He got baby taste buds. It is fresh, and for you texture girlies, it is mushy. So, yeah, you may want to opt out on that if you are not a fan of cold mushy food. The big Mac roll? It was so good. All the flavors combined and dances on your tongue. In a good way though loves. Went here when I was in town for school at ufl! The steak here was amazing. It was so tender it was so good. I actually got the New York steak which was pretty good. But my dad got their filet mignon and that steak was so tender I had to take another piece!! The appetizers were decent as well. Tried their calamari and soft shell crab! If you get the happy hour specials thats great, I didn't and ended up spending over $40 for vegetable fried rice, a sweet potato roll, happy hour edemame and a cocktail. HOWEVER, the food tastes me two days because that rice was a MASSIVE portion. The drinks are also very strong so as a lightweight I probably wouldn't get again because I couldnt finish it, but it sure was tasty. We'll have been kind of on a sushi trend lately and I'm wanting to try sushi in a lot of different places. We parked by the food court as I thought it was by the food court, ended up doing a big lap in the mall. It's where the old ruby tuesday reataurant used to be. We were sat down right away by a friendly staff member. We ordered the usual appetizers amd a sushi roll, which was by far the best sushi I've had being new to sushi. I ordered chicken teriyaki and the wife gotta combination teppenyaki we could not even finish all our food. There was so much of it. Definitely. Definitely. A solid option inside Oaks Mall. We weren't expecting much since it's been hard to find good Asian - specifically Japanese (sushi, ramen, etc.) cuisine in Gainesville. This was a surprisingly solid place - the service was also great - very friendly staff! The salmon, escolar, and the hamachi did not taste as fresh, but they were still descent. The experience here was disappointing overall. The wait times were extremely long, and unfortunately the quality of the food didn't justify the delay. We were seated for close to three hours from start to finish, and a major part of the issue seemed to be understaffing paired with overbooking. The restaurant accepted a very large party and continued taking additional tables despite not having enough servers to keep up, which created a ripple effect on service for everyone else. The food itself was just okay -- there are definitely better sushi and hibachi options in Gainesville that offer faster service and higher quality for the price. With better crowd management and pacing of reservations, the experience could be improved, but as it stands I wouldn't go out of my way to return. read more

I ordered pickup, but I definitely plan to return and dine in. I got the lunch special steak and it was tender and juicy. I had to add a little bit of salt, but otherwise it was cooked nicely. The veggies and rice were great and I think the lunch portion was just enough to be filling but not stuffed. I think the price was fair as well. Don't let the location fool you, even though it's attached to The Oaks Mall in Gainesville this sushi restaurant transcends into one of the best dining experiences of my life. They have a great menu and service is top tier. However the star of the show is the outstanding food. Having lived in Japan for over two years I absolutely love Sushi and often leave most restaurants disappointed. This is probably one of three restaurants I have ever been to in the states where I left with completely satisfied with the quality of the sushi. The Sushi and Sashimi combo I had was absolutely fantastic and the accompanying caviar complimented the fish perfectly. Came here last Saturday for some pre Mother's Day festivities. Was skeptical since it's in the mall- but don't let that keep you from trying this gem out. When we arrived it was a bit busy and it was early afternoon. We waited a few minutes to get seated and it seemed like maybe they were short staffed or breaks. Nevertheless once seated we were taken care of quickly. Ordered some drinks first and they were fantastic . I went here in a Friday afternoon and was impressed by their lunch specials. They have sushi, teppanyaki which is hibachi style and bento box options. From those menus the teppanyaki caught my eye. It comes with so much food . It came with salad with option for ginger or ranch, miso or clear soup, vegetables, and your choice of protein. It is so filling. The food had great flavor and came out hot. My mom had the same as me but she got the shrimp teppanyaki and she loved it. We both had leftovers. The server was attentive and willing to explain items and their specialties to us. I really hope this place is here to stay. They have a variety of items in their menu from sushi to poke bowls as well. They have a nice bar area and a sushi area too where you can see the sushi chef at work. While we sat down we saw so many people come close to the restaurant and take a glance at the menu. I wish more people could come an enjoy this place. Everything is fresh and we had no complaints. For a $12.99 chicken lunch special offering , that can't be beat. Other restaurants charge almost twice as much. My only suggestion would be that the salad wasn't so wet and the miso soup just needed a little seasoning but nothing bad. I had a cucumber martini and my husband had a Japanese style old fashioned. For our entrees we had the Teppanyaki. I had chicken/steak with fried rice, veggies, which came with noodles and two shrimps which I thought was cute. My husband had shrimp and steak which came with the same sides. Our meals came with soup and salad. Everything was delicious and the portion size was huge. We both had left overs. I love the decor they have around the restaurant and it's a great place for parties/large groups. We had a group of 6 and it was perfect. They have an intensive menu which is what I like from sushi, apps, hibachi, al la carte items. I ordered the salmon hibachi with extra veggies no rice or noodles and each of the hibachi entrees with exception of the tofu and veggie one comes with 2 shrimp! I thought that was pretty cool. My friend ordered the sweet potato roll and I was able to try and that was delicious but it's one of my favorite rolls so I wouldn't expect anything less. Everyone dishes looked yummy we all enjoyed the food! The service/server was attentive although at the end I think he was getting tired of us because we had him coming back to our table quite a few times...oops, but they actually surprised us and brought out 3 fried ice creams for 3 of us who had birthdays and sang happy birthday to us! It was so nice and the fried ice cream was "literally" the icing on the cake. Very good experience, I can't wait to go back again and bring my husband!
