Ordered the hibachi, did not get the salad that it was supposed to come with, the food was cold, and the service wasn't good. Ordered the steak medium and it came out rare but also cold. I came here for lunch recently while visiting family in the area. Our party consisted of four adults and three children. We were seated at about 2:05 PM. The staff was very accommodating. They made sure our table was large enough to sit us all comfortably. They brought a high chair and "kids" chopsticks and, initially, made us feel very welcome. Ordering took a while, though (and this becomes relevant). I was not looking at my watch -- since I did not think we were in a hurry -- but I'd guess it took at least ten minutes for a server to come over to take our order. Drinks were brought out quickly. And, again, the staff was very good about offering refills, etc. Some in our party ordered sushi. Some ordered bento that included hot food. The sushi was brought out about ten minutes after it was ordered, but it was probably another ten minutes before the bento arrived. This would not have been a big deal, except... At about 2:50, we were sitting there, talking and still finishing up our meals. A waiter came over and told us that the restaurant closes between 2:30 and 5:00 and we needed to leave. I have NEVER before in my life been kicked out of a restaurant like that. In my experience, if a restaurant advertises lunch hours until 2:30, you can order lunch until 2:30. And, you can sit at your table until you are ready to leave. And, really. It's not like we'd been sitting with empty plates gabbing for an hour. The last of our food had not been brought out until after 2:30 and we were still eating. The food was fine, I guess. But, being kicked out like that cut short our time together and left me with a very bad feeling about the place. Not sure when I'll be back in Ocean Springs. But, if and when I am, I'll not be making a return trip to Wasabi. read more

Soppped by Wasabi after my favorite habachi bar closed. We were seated right away with a family that was already seated. Our server was really on the ball and wasted no time getting our drinks and soup orders. Decided to start with some Sashimi (yellow fin tuna) and was a little disappointed that it was served Hira zukuri style when I actually prefer much thinner. Although the Sashimi was fresh it was a little tough and thick. For soups we settled on the clear broth which was good but I wished I had tried the miso. We settled on a filet hibachi and chicken with shrimp. While the protein portions were plentiful and tender the fried rice still needs improvement. The presentation of the chefs is still lacking but the service has much improved. read more

Me and my kids really enjoy coming here for lunch. You get a lot of food in the bento boxes for your buck. We like the bento boxes because you get a variety of food. Today though the yum yum sauce was very runny and bland. All in all it's always a treat! read more

My boyfriend and I went to eat tonight and decided to go to a restaurant we haven't been to together. I've gone here once before and the food was good. Much has changed since then. He got the chicken fried rice, good choice on his part. I however got the dinner entreé, chicken teriyaki. It's suppose to be served with Soup and salad, never received the salad. The chicken was over dressed with the sauce, and the rice was cold. My sweet tea sat nearly empty for 5+ minutes and was then refilled with unsweet tea. I try to not get annoyed by stuff like this usually, being a server myself I know it can get difficult at times, but this was unacceptable. Our waiter (never told us his name) seemed like he really didn't care about the service he was getting. Took me two plus years to come eat here again, and I certainly will not be back. read more

Due to stove being out we decided to go to Wasabi. By the time we arrived a lot of the dinner rush was winding down and getting ready to leave. When our Hibachi cook got to us we became the only folks in the restaurant. The cook was friendly and prepared our food with graceful ease. He made a smiley face on the rice when adding the sauce, it was kinda cute. He did seem somewhat interested in talking with us but it kinda felt rushed. The waitress was very good she kept us in our drinks came over to ask about us but wasn't pushy. Overall we enjoyed our visit and will be back. read more

Everything was so dirty and sticky. The floor, table, chair, booster seats, and even the sweetener packet holder felt like someone had dipped them in honey. The worst part was the bathrooms, dead roaches laying around. The food was below average at best so we will not be returning. read more

Ordered to go the combination chicken and steak teriyaki meal. The chicken was way over cooked, the teriyaki sauce was very good but basically a scoop of rice, soup and small salad, and a smaller then average bit of sliced steak and chicken. Not even close to the nearly $29 it cost me. I wanted something good tonight for dinner at work- could've done better just about anywhere. Oh well, live and learn. Really good sushi with pretty good ambiance, I've spent many lunches and after work happy hours here. The three options for seating are the sushi bar, directly when you walk in; standard four top tables to the left; or semi private little booths to the right, all are super comfortable and I love how each section has its own little personality. The beer & sake selection is nothing to write home about, but it is well-priced. I'd consider the sushi to be top 5 in the city, the presentation and flavor are usually impressive. The sushi chefs are really good at guessing what you'd like if you tell them to surprise you. The service is great, and the parking lot is both spacious and camera- protected. read more

Went for lunch with my wife and sat at a hibachi table with a mother and her two children. The hibachi chef was very friendly and well at his job yet not very entertaining. If i eat at the grill I look forward to the showmanship that comes along with the meal. The meal itself was pretty good although I have had better at other places. Mmmmmmmmmm!!!! Is all I can say! The Service and food is wonderful. People complain about the floors well if anyone knows anything about floods and cooking. When your constantly cooking on a flat top like they are and you have a glossy floor it tends to get greasy and slippery they can't tell due to the fact they are wearing slip resistant shoes required by the chef/ owner and most insurance companies. People that have actually worked in the food industry will know what I am talking about, you people that refuse to get dirty or sweat or just plain work hard will think it's just dirty that's your loss can't please everyone go eat somewhere else. Food is great! Yummy sushi and Yakisoba. Convenient location! I would have given this place a 5 stars however customer service would have been superb if it wasn't for the girl that works in the register. Shes Asian, wears eyeglasses and I've had three different encounters with her as I ordered to go and none of them were very pleasant because she comes off very stand offish. She doesn't smile and she is very short with her answers in addition she charged me for hot sauce to go! I have never had to pay for hot sauce (Siracha) to go because restaurants usually provide these condiments. It is a Japanese restaurant why wouldn't they provide free hot sauce especially if you've ordered plenty of expensive sushi rolls. It's like McDonalds making you pay for ketchup after buying French fries. Asides from that all the other employees have been great, friendly and very nice. read more

Tiny little restaurant with the option to order hibachi or dine in with the regular menu. I had an order of clear soup to start. Delicious. The sushi took a little long to arrive to the table (wasn't very busy inside). I had the Bayou Roll. Also delicious. Everyone else at the table seemed to enjoy their meals as well. Tasty egg rolls. I had fried rice and beef dish and it costs about $13 - $14. That's fine but they really put little meat in a huge and tasty rice bowl. I doubt it was a 1/4 lb. For a 1/4 pound and rice, it ought to have been about $9. And this was not filet mignon, though the quality was fine. When the entrée contains beef, you better not short change customers on BEEF unless you want a two-star rating, even if everything else was a four-star experience. read more

My boyfriend and I tried this place for lunch. He had the Hibachi lunch special and I had the two sushi roll lunch special, we also ordered a calamari for an appetizer. All of my food and the appetizer came out before the Hibachi was even started my meal was done before my boyfriend even had his food, our tea was never refilled and none of the empty dishes were bussed of the table. I stacked them in an unused chair so they didn't get pushed into the lady next to me. While my boyfriend was eating I was picking at the rest of my seaweed salad and noticed an odd seaweed, as I began to pull it out I was disgusted to find out that it was a long strand of hair mixed into my salad we called the manager over but he just waved and kept on walking when we told the waiter he offered to get me more salad. If it is such a common occurrence to find hair in the salad that the staff were the manager isn't even shocked or concerned about, I hate to think of what other health violations go on behind the kitchen area. This place is nasty and disgusting I do not recommend it to anyone. The worst part is, I didn't even find it till my meal was done and I was picking through what was left while waiting on my boyfriend, I have no idea how much of a stranger's hair I just ate!!! Food average, service poor. Went on Sunday, restaurant wasn't full. 7 of us in party, at same table, ordered at same time. 5 on one check. They ordered 4 Bento boxes and 1 Yaki Udon. My son and I on another check. I ordered a sushi roll and my son ordered Yaki Soba. The soups came out few mins before food. My son's Yaki Soba came out after all of us had finished eating. I had to ask for it from 3 different people. Waiter finally came over apologied that it was taking so long. It came out about 15 mins after that. I would have thought the Yaki Soba would have came out same time as the Yaki Udon. But, I guess not here. My son's lunch finally came out in a "to go" box along with the check. I recommended my friend this restaurant since in all the times I've went there myself (which was years ago), I absolutely loved this place myself when it came to Japanese/Chinese restaurants in the area. I told him that there should be a rather great deal that he is able to get a ton of sushi while choosing two different types of them in one order. He decided to get that, thus I dropped him off at lunchtime. As I picked him up afterwards, he told me his experience with the restaurant. He said he thought he ordered the type of special I've told him about, but only got four pieces of sushi. He told me that he asked the waitress about what I said, and that the waitress told him that what he described was the special, but what he ordered was something completely different: two orders of two pieced sushi. He told me that he felt so stupid and embarrassed for ordering something completely different, despite it being his very first time there. I asked if anyone even recommended him on the type of special or even anything in general BEFORE letting him place an order (since that was what they always did for me when I went in the restaurant), he said that no one did. It was lunchtime when I dropped him off, yet he was never recommended the lunch special before ordering? That sounds ridiculous. When I told him my initial thought that at the very least he didn't spend that much for such an order, he told me that the price for such an order was a little over $9. For only four pieces of sushi? Why is it so expensive? That sounded crazy to me. I asked him how much the special would've costed there, and he said an estimation of at least over $10 with the tax included based on the price that he had seen for the special the waitress finally presented him. So he could have gotten a great amount of food for a little over $10, yet the waitress never even recommended him to do so and just let him place a completely different order for near the price of the special, and even then he only got four pieces of sushi? Though he made a mistake for placing a different order, it also sounded like they just played him like a fool for charging him SO much for SO little, and I really didn't like that. I asked him for the prices of the other foods on the menus if he'd noticed and remembered, and he said the majority on the main menu ranged from over $9-$15 for what appears to be a great amount for the prices, with appetizers ranging from $3-$5. It makes me wonder why they sound like they charge a fair amount for a good amount of food, but charges so much for just a little bit of sushi. Either way, I know he wasn't satisfied since he sounded very disappointed in himself, so I bought him to another restaurant. He at the very least said that the sushi was good and that the place felt casually calm, but that overall sounded terrible to me. I don't think I want to return to Wasabi myself after hearing what had happened to him. read more
