The vibe is good, with many others working on their laptops and students doing homework. Wash Perk gets some serious points for a quaint location, local atmosphere, ample seating, and good coffee. The staff are pleasant and exactly the type of people you'd expect to be working in a local Denver coffee shop. However, when I came in here one morning literally famished and in desperate need of some nourishment with my coffee, I was disappointed to find a truly lackluster set of breakfast options. Pastries and bagels (that you have to heat yourself in a microwave or toaster) are not my idea of a hearty breakfast. I would at least hope that they could contract out to get some amazing breakfast burritos stocked in those coolers. Wash Perk is the Tattered Cover of coffee shops-think mismatched furniture, cozy nooks, lots of pillows, an "indie" vibe. As other reviewers have mentioned, its popularity has caught on, so it does get loud and may not work for you if you have a limited attention span/can't focus/get distracted easily. That said, outlets are plentiful, so if you do need to work, you can generally find one. I know this will raise a few eyebrows in a review for a coffee shop, but I don't drink coffee, so I can't comment on the coffee. I do love that they sell Naked Juices and I have yet to meet a baked good I don't like. Parking is not as challenging as you'd expect; it cam usually be found on a surrounding street. I usually come up Ohio and grab the first spot I find. Wash Perk is also a great place to meet a friend, grab a treat, and head over to the park (which is a stone's throw away if you've got a good arm) for a walk or some people watching. read more

I normally avoid anything gluten-free because to be perfectly honest, it usually tastes like sawdust. However, a paleo friend recommended the gluten-free pumpkin bread, and it was absolutely delicious. This place is just so great. The atmosphere is laid back and there are so many lovely spots to sit and enjoy your cup of coffee! It's perfect for a social meet up or for a study spot if you are in school (like myself- dang grad school). The coffee is delicious and they never seem to mess up any of my complex drink orders. Wash Perk is KEY to our Saturday morning ritual of a bike ride through Wash Park followed by a great cup of coffee! Inexpensive, delicious coffee (good cold brew!!!) and baked goods. They are super conscious about allergies and gluten intolerances! The staff was so friendly and helpful and willing to answer questions. There was a woman in front of us in line that had a large order and a lot of questions and they never got impatient and had a smile on their face. Such a great location with easy street parking. My wife told me she started walking down here frequently, so I've started visiting as well. They serve Kaladi Bros. coffee, which is some of the best around. Very friendly staff, and they serve pastries from 4+ local bakeries! If you can't find a pastry to suit your dietary needs here, you can't eat pastries, period. Just today I had a slice of Bluepoint bakery's Pumpkin Chocolate Bread, and it was perfect with my iced almond Americano. I also like the dog leash rail out on the patio, with mats for the dogs to lay on. If I had a gripe, it would be the clientele. There's a lot of loud cell phone gabbing, and the other day I watched a woman leave her monster truck SUV idling (and blocking the sidewalk entrance) for 10 minutes while she went inside to get her coffee. I ordered the honey cinnamon latte because it had high recommendations on yelp; however, I was disappointed. I found the latte lacking flavor or anything special. It wasn't horrible, but definitely not anything great. This shop is very cute, though. A good spot for locals, but on the crowded side. A lot of people camped out on laptops. I will probably go back to try a few other drinks and also because they had a sign that said they had gluten free food. read more

My new favorite Denver coffee shop. I love Kaladi coffee anyway, and this place is within walking distance of my house. While I've never stayed inside to drink my coffee (I either get it to go or sit out on the porch), I love it that they have a special area for dogs, complete with dog bed, water bowl, biscuits, and a dog rack (think bike rack, but with tiny leashes for you to attach your dog to). They're also very accessible for strollers and wheelchairs, with a ramp leading up to the door. The coffee is really good, the baristas are attentive, and the place has that neighborhood-y feel to it. read more

They failed to tell me the extra charge for salsa and guacamole for the burrito and mentioned the extras in passing while I ordered. The bill came to more than anticipated so I asked the price for each item. The sandwich, which didn't have a price, turned out to be more $$ then I wanted to spend. No tip out of deceitfulness. Burritos are very tasty and so are the lattes. They carry a bottled tea called RUNA, which has a lot of antioxidants including Guayusa. Burrito was a local vendor and was totally awesome. They also had wifi and plenty of places to sit with friendly staff. However, as far as the coffee goes, I'd prefer a Starbucks cap over one from here which is not a preferable standard of comparison lol. I definitely feel like part of the hippie mom scene (though I am not a hippie nor a mom) but this is the crowd that Wash Perk serves. I love this place and their generous servings of tea and ample power supply located all over this cafe. It is pretty hard for find a place to sit if you come after lunch time, unless you are willing to be cozy with the customers next to you and slide into a seat between two people. My go-to : Bhakti Chai - I have been in this prolonged chai phase and don't think that it will go away any time soon. I can't wait to try their scones and other teas/coffee soon! Another note: Wash perk has various activities during the week so keep a look out for them on its website. For example, monday is study night from 5-8pm and you get a bottomless coffee. I wish this place stayed open later into the night. They also have a lost and found corner with the most random things (e.g. a sock) on it. Definitely a place to check out and hang out! First, the things I like: Nice walk in a nice neighborhood. Chill vibe that is in keeping with its crunchy mindset. Pretty eco-conscious - real mugs, silverware, etc with little waste. Comfortable seating throughout. Relatively reasonably priced. For these reasons, I come back upon occasion. Things that annoy me: Their regular coffee isn't that great. I splurged on a cappuccino this morning and they only offer it in an 8 oz version. Since they have 20 oz mugs, I asked for a double, but apparently that needs to be coded as a large, frothy latte and comes with a strange look. When I lived in Italy, they didn't have a problem with large cappuccino and they invented it. After all of that, the espresso is burnt and the milk is flavorless. Their WiFi is pretty slow. These things prevent me from coming more often. If you're in the area and have nothing better to do, come on by and get a cup of their regular coffee or something with so much added (orange mocha frappucino?) that you can't really taste the coffee. I wouldn't make a special trip here, but it is a convenient neighborhood meeting spot. read more

I'm picky about my coffee shops. I want great atmosphere, friendly (but not overly chatty) baristas, and quality product. This place met all those requirements. I had a 12 oz. triple shot soy latte, and it was perfect. Their espresso was a bit milder than what I prefer (I like a bit of a smoky flavor) but still very good. It had just the right amount of foam for a latte and a nice little rosetta. Impressive! My husband got a 12oz. americano, which he said was great. He had a scone and I had zucchini bread, and both were excellent. I only found one drawback: the place was a bit clustered and not a lot of room to move. I think the place would work a little better as a more open space. In all, a great little coffee shop. I'd gladly go back! read more

I was here to do studying, so if I came here with a group of people to socialize, I may have rated it higher. When I study in a coffee shop, atmosphere is everything. Wash perk was a bit too bright for my liking, and very busy (at 6pm). There were still several tables and bar seats open as it's a large place. My biggest qualm however, is that it was quite loud. Even with headphones in. So if I could give it a badge, it would receive the Socialite Award! read more

Tucked away a few blocks from Wash Park, this quaint little coffee joint is great. It is a welcome hideout from the Starbucks of the world. I live a few blocks away and didn't know it existed until a few weeks ago. Cheap, good coffee and a cool atmosphere, plus free wifi! A great patio to chill outside complete with a doggie leash hitch. I am a regular and I love the coffee and atmosphere! but today I was so disappointed that the costumer service was lacking some positive energy, the barista was rude and showed no interest in her job, she did a sloppy job and didn't even listen to my order before she gave me and my friend an attitude. There is one guy (all the other baristas are girls) barista who after a whole year there is still painfully slow and you can tell when he is making the coffees or is on the till because the queue rally backs up. Imagine going to your kooky aunts house for coffee and you're here. It's eclectic and as another poster mentioned it's kinda dirty. Not in a gross way just like life is happening and they can't be bothered to repaint the walls kind of way. Same feeling I get when I go to hole in the wall Mexican restaurants. Or perhaps it's the Spanish roof and terra cotta exterior that is giving me that vibe. It was hopping in there and there was a walking group laughing and chatting it up loudly. Not so relaxing, but outside there was a lovely patio where dogs were resting peacefully with their owners. Probably not a place I would make a destination again. But if you need caffeine and are headed to wash park it's a nice stop. On a side note, I am having serious doubts over the star system on Denver Yelp. It's like no one knows how to use 2 and 3 star reviews. Trust me not every place is a 5 people!!! read more
