Located on the Lake Michigan coastline just south of the Racine Zoo, the Oasis is, as its name implies, a sandy sanctuary from the real world. Some days I visit with a big bucket of sand toys for the kids in tow, other times- like this afternoon- I stop by solo for a quick break from the daily grind. Paul Curtin and his friendly staff operate a gem of a business. Refreshments are plentiful- both for adults and children- and the price can't be beat. Have a burger while listening to great bands (check the website for the daily lineup) or split a pitcher (or three) of beer with friends. Also consider this place for parties- my son just had his 6th here last week and it went off without a hitch. Simply put, this is one of the best things about Racine. You'll find me here all summer!

Such a quality local park (recommend to me by a local, after all)…read more Seven Bridges has nice, walkable trails and some stairs, great for easy hiking/walks in a pleasant part of South Milwaukee. Venture in maybe three minutes and you can pick up the path that hugs the waterfront from an elevation, offering stunning views of Lake Michigan. You can also venture down to the shore itself, there are a few steep dirt paths that will take you all the way down. Definitely a great spot for being in nature when the weather agrees!

I have had gluten free bread that tastes almost like regular bread, but it is never as moist as regular bread. Their sourdough tastes every bit as good as regular sourdough. It's built kinda into a hillside, making for some beautiful and tricky holes. However, it's really unfortunate that it makes it ADA inaccessible. I struggled a lot with the stairs and steeper hills due to a knee injury I have, so that was a smaller bummer. Nonetheless, my friends and I had a great time and would love to come back to try again!

They have plenty of picnic tables to eat, as well as areas to park strollers and lunch bags. There was also lots of seating available if you wanted to sit and watch your toddler play (especially helpful if you're pregnant and need a little break from standing!). The bathrooms were small, but clean. Honestly, all of the essentials were available and it truly made for a great morning!
