Here's a more polished, elite-Yelp-style version that is firm, credible, and professional without sounding emotional or petty: After giving this local pub four separate opportunities, I can confidently say the experience has been consistently mediocre. Each visit has been marked by issues with either the food, the service, or both. Hoping each experience would improve, I continued to return. Unfortunately, it never did. On this visit, we sat at the bar to watch the playoff game. The bar had only a handful of guests, yet we waited nearly 15 minutes before being acknowledged. The bartender walked past us twice without making eye contact or offering so much as a greeting. Eventually, I had to raise my hand to get his attention. The food was equally underwhelming. The pub chips were neither crisp nor tender--just bland, thin potato rounds were lukewarm warm if that virtually no seasoning or texture, resembling cardboard more than a house-made side. My friend ordered the Buffalo chicken sandwich, and the chicken lacked flavor entirely the coleslaw competed with the buffalo sauce . The roll was hard, dry, and difficult to eat. The one bright spot was the crab and artichoke dip, which was tasty and well-prepared. What ultimately soured the evening, however, was the lack of hospitality. We originally came for the game and dessert and decided to stay for dinner. After our meal, I requested a dessert menu. The bartender handed me one and then casually informed me that the kitchen had already closed. There was no apology, no effort to accommodate us, and no prior warning that the kitchen would be closing. Had we been informed while ordering dinner, we would have happily ordered dessert at the same time. Instead, we were left looking at a menu for items that were no longer available. Good hospitality is about anticipation and communication. Telling paying guests after the fact that they can no longer order dessert because the kitchen has closed reflects a lack of attentiveness and customer care. Four visits were enough. There are too many restaurants that value both food quality and guest experience for me to give this one a fifth chance.

Excellent service, consistent great quality food, and a nice selection of beer, wine and liquor drinks.

The ambiance captures the feel of a true smokehouse, and the aroma throughout the restaurant was incredibly inviting, which had me looking forward to the meal. The staff were outstanding, they were friendly, welcoming, and attentive throughout my visit. Their hospitality was easily the highlight of the experience. Unfortunately, the food did not live up to the expectations set by the atmosphere. The brisket nachos lacked flavor, as the brisket was dry rather than tender, juicy, and well-seasoned. The cheese sauce on the nachos was also quite bland and didn't add much depth to the dish. The mac and cheese was another disappointment, with very little seasoning or cheese flavor. It had more of a stovetop-style texture and taste, whereas a richer, baked version perhaps with Gouda or a blend of flavorful cheeses, would have complemented the barbecue much better. Overall, while the excellent customer service and authentic smokehouse ambiance made for a pleasant visit, the food quality and flavor fell short of expectations. I hope the kitchen revisits some of these menu items because the restaurant has a strong foundation and plenty of potential.

Mecca was our very caring waitstaff. Melissa was the Manager. My companion and I each had a concern, about which we spoke with Melissa. We said we'd mention these in our Yelp review. 1. I came in just after the restaurant opened at 11:30 am. To my horror, the floors were soaking wet. My walking stick (both I and my friend are senior citizens) nearly flew out of my hands. I nearly fell -- but caught myself. Such washing, important as it is, needs to be done -- and be thoroughly dry! -- well before ANY guests arrive! 2. My friend couldn't easily enter the restaurant because the door is very heavy and she couldn't reach the single cleat that was intended as a grab bar. A server came to her rescue and helped her inside. In order to keep us seniors independent and UNembarrased for as long as possible, more grab bars and a railing need to be installed at the primary entry as well as at the secondary one. The 2nd entrance, also on Talbot Street, should be available ALL THE TIME; this entry has no steps into the restaurant, and there are easily reachable tables right there. In many ways I highly recommend this restaurant, with the above-described cautions appropriately taken into account.
