Downtown Easton has such a nice, old-fashioned feel to it. One second you're driving past depressing strip malls, and the next you're walking down a charming, elegant little road. Scosa has a great location right on the main street. The vibes were strong. They were playing some nice 50's/early 60's music throughout the night that enhanced the mood. I ate here with my bf for our anniversary, and it was perfect! The restaurant has an upscale look, with romantic dimmed lighting, and they put candlelit flowers on the table! We had reservations but it wasn't busy, and I'm glad they seated us in our own spot, away from others. I can't stand when restaurants put you ass close to someone else. The vegetable minestrone was delicious, my bf regretted getting a cup and not the bowl size! My Tagliatelle Bolognese was very yummy! My bfs Gnocchi Lab Ragu was 10/10 he loved it. I've always liked Scossa and have been coming for 15 years but the food has declined. And the prices have gone up. $18 for 2 slices of burrata tonight and 6 cherry tomatoes cut in half. Then Overcooked pasta (last 4 visits to the restaurant - when i booked on open table I didn't want to review bc I didn't want to give up my name) and the pasta was just swimming in this gross garlic sauce. And the bartender didn't listen to my order. Not sure if the chef or management has changed, but please bring back old Scossa. the burrata $18 for 2 slices was the worst insult of all. I could get steak frites at Praeger's new restaurant next door. Service has also declined. And the hostess can be snobby. I loved old Scossa I've waited a while to write this review. 4 of us dined on Valentine's Day, and experience wonderful food and service. The restaurant is beautiful and service was excellent. Two us enjoyed the lobster special, and both agreed it was the best lobster of our lifetime, big praise. The salmon and NY Strip entrees were also delicious. We enjoyed drinks and dessert, and were impressed by all. We probably stayed a little too long, but staff did not push us out in anyway. My husband & I were on a double date & had dinner reservations for 5pm. We arrived to an empty restaurant but for one table. The hostess proceeded to seat us next to that table, ie the only other table in the restaurant with customers. The two tables were practically on top of each other, such that we were all cramped together, which made conversation challenging. The table next to us also had two small children -- one of whom coughed the minute we sat down & continued to loudly cough for the roughly ten minutes we spent at the table. And while I love children -- I have two -- I don't necessarily wish to be in close proximity on a date night, especially when every other table in the restaurant is empty. The point of this (admittedly privileged) story is right before we were seated, I asked the hostess if we could sit in one of the three large empty booths, in order to have a bit more table space and to talk freely without bothering the only other party in the restaurant and vice versa. And the hostess said no. She then counseled me about future reservations, telling me "next time you make reservations you need to ask for one of the booths". [Sidebar/stating the obvious: there will not be a next time.] I then asked if we could have a different table (instead of a booth), and was also told no, with no reason given, just nope. That's how we ended up at the table whereby we were almost on top of the only other party at the restaurant, the one with an apparently sick child. Finally my husband got up to ask again if we could move to a quieter, more private part of the restaurant and the answer changed to yes. We ended up at a lovely table and were able to hear and enjoy conversation with our friends. The food was decent, but not decent enough to go to this restaurant again. Coupled with the unwelcome start to our meal, I would give this restaurant two thumbs down. PS: throughout our meal there were numerous empty tables, in other words, there appeared to be zero reason for the hostess the accommodate our first request to be seated at different table. read more

Just had dinner at one of our favorite spots in Easton Scossa. My wife had the rockfish and I went for the Ossobucco. Again as always an outstanding evening. Our server and I'm so sorry we didn't catch his name was very professional courteous and efficient. The food was as always excellent. My only small take away however small was the spinach that came withe the veal would've be a tad better with a touch of garlic and olive oil. My first experience here, and it was very nice! We didn't have a reservation, but that's okay. It's a beautiful day so we had a table out front on the town square. We were greeted immediately on entry and very friendly and courteous staff. We got a nice table. Very nice wine list. We ordered some antipasto and a bottle of imported Italian Cabernet Sauvignon. For the main course I had to try the Rigatoni Bolognese and had a side of asparagus. Table side service was exceptional. Food came out fairly quickly, and considering they were hosting a wedding party in their back room , that's a high mark. The rigatoni was fantastic, with fresh ground Parmesan and fresh ground black pepper. For dessert I had to try the hazelnut gelato flute. So good and refreshing after the meal. It's a little more expensive place than I would usually go, but I'd say it's worth the extra cost for a great dining experience. Give it a try. read more

I do not recommend this restaurant. I ordered the rockfish. The menu stated it came with rice pilaf, but I received plain white rice that had no flavor. The rockfish also lacked flavor. $30 definitely seemed overpriced for the entree. The server was not very friendly and she gave vibes that she did not want to be there. It seemed like she scoffed when we ordered glasses of wine and not a bottle. She seemed too informal; she set the wine glasses down with too much force, and dropped silverware when clearing the plates. On a positive note, water was refilled more than once and we were asked if we wanted more bread. read more

Very nice atmosphere. Pleasant staff, kickass bartender. My martini's nice and very cold. The food came out very quickly. The bread, I believe ciabatta, and the cheese crisps were tasty. The Caesar salad was good, the white anchovies were very nice but there were only two. No croutons and the were some cherry tomatoes, so not your standard Caesar. The wine list is small but we'll thought out. Albeit a bit light in the Italian section, only two Chianti and one amerone. However there is plenty else to choose from. I had the Roma rosso Lasco 2019 and it was very nice. I ordered the lamb shanks, served with broccolini and roasted potatoes. The lamb was tasty, some of the edges were a bit dry, but that can be expected. I splurged to order the tiramisu and a double espresso. The espresso had a good crema on top. Being Italian it is hard to find an Italian restaurant that I like. I had one of the specials, lasagna with sausage & broccolini. The lasagna was so light and obviously homemade. The sauce was dark and rich, as all god Italian red sauce should be. The cheese, sausage & broccolini incorporated together so nicely. Ohhhh and how can I forget-----the butter was so so tasty and the crackers were a delicious treat. It is rare to find delicious butter in the states. I cannot wait to come back. read more

Kitchens can have bad nights. They can get backed up. Servers can be new and inexperienced. That happens. But what isn't acceptable is that when we ask, an hour and a half into our meal, what's taking so long to get our food, that the manager comes over and tells us it's our fault because we ordered "weird" by ordering salads in one stage and then ordering mains when the waiter came back around. Then my companion had veal scallopini with nicely done (al dente) vegetables while I had shrimp and mushrooms with pasta. Sorry, no room for dessert. I will address a concern: when we called to make a reservation, I asked if we could bring our six pound Yorkshire Terrier, who is both a service dog and an emotional support dog for us. The person I spoke with was very clear that Scossa had one indoor table at which such a dog was permitted, and one table outdoors. I asked for the indoor table. When we arrived, she pointed us to a table off by itself at the end of your bar. We felt as though we'd been exiled from the other dining patrons. Support and service dogs are normally treated as if they're part of the "guest list"; such dogs are NOT treated as a reason to exile guests to a table distant from other diners. (There was a crying infant that was part of some gathering at Scossa this evening that I'm sure everyone in the restaurant could hear, but that baby and its family weren't sent to "no man's land," as we were.) In hotels and every restaurant we've gone to till now, properly documented service and support animals (as ours is) are accepted as if they are a normal part of a party. I don't think you should discriminate against people with service and support animals, first, by having only one indoor and one outdoor table and, second, by putting that indoor table, at least, fairly far away from your other dining guests. All the fish was fresh and cooked perfectly but the dish fell flat. Olive oil and lemon with corn and cabbage. I had the veal scallopine with vegetables. The veal was tough and overcooked. Had more of a gravy than a sauce and was bacon forward. Needed acidity " lemon/ wine and to be at temp. The guest had a leg of lamb with risotto. Also over cooked dry and the gravy was not good. Risioto was rice and butter. Halibut was the only dish that was cooked well. Lemon capers and white wine. Cooked perfectly and flavorful. I teetered between 4 and 5 stars on this one. I am new to the area, and this place was recommended by my boss. My fiancée and I went here for our anniversary dinner on a Friday evening. We arrived a little early for our reservation, but they immediately sat us outside, which was nice. However, the hostess that sat us did not give us menus when she sat us. Someone came to give us water; another came to give us bread. After about 15 minutes, we asked the woman with the bread if we could have menus. We were brought menus but nothing else was said. Then, a woman I assume was a hostess (though not the one that sat us) came to our table to ask if we had a reservation. I said yes, and she left. She returned a few minutes later to confirm my name, which I did. I assume she did this to confirm my OpenTable seating, which I appreciate, but 1) that should have been done on the way in when I told the initial hostess my name, and 2) it did not require two trips to our table. At this point, it had been upwards of 20 minutes sitting, we had spoken to approximately 5 different people, but no one had introduced themselves so we had no server and had not ordered drinks. Finally, a server took our drink orders. Then, before we'd even gotten our drinks, another server came over and started to describe the specials the hostess had already described. We informed her we'd been told the specials already and that we had already given our drink order to another server. She seemed surprised, so I think there was some table/section confusion. This was a rocky start to the meal, and my fiancée and I exchanged "maybe this wasn't the best choice" expressions. Luckily, things went uphill from there. The server that eventually did serve us was very friendly. We shared a beet salad as an appetizer, which was delicious! They split it nicely on two plates for us which was helpful. I got gnocchi pesto for dinner, and my fiancée got saffron risotto with duck. We were both very happy with our choices. The saffron risotto stood out. For dessert, we ordered tartufo, which came with an edible "happy anniversary" sign, which was a nice touch. Overall, we enjoyed the food and ambiance. I've been to Scossa 10+ times in the past :+years. I miss their amazing cheese croutons like bread! Also, tonight I ordered chicken cacciatore with risotto Parma (to go) and an extra side of risotto (way overpriced for the amount they put in the container). Hubby had risotto with sweet sausage. He loved it!! Totally satisfied. Also loved the Tiramisu! I'm more the foodie. The risotto Parma was a bit bland and the chicken cacciatore tasted nothing like it does at most Italian places (homemade and public) It was dry, bone in chicken breast.. not 'falling of the bow.. it was a struggle.. didn't taste peppers or onions at all. Straight kind of unseasoned tomato sauce. It wasn't horrible but for the price and what I've experienced there many times (4 stars almost always) I was very disappointed tonight. The chicken was dry and not fall off the bone (my experience with cacciatore is the opposite - dark meat fall of the bone chicken). And the sauce had no flavor. Same with the risotto. Even when I added Parmesan it was flavorless. Maybe a bad night? I typically LOVE them but it's been at least six months since I've been... and it's summer season so maybe the quality is down to get the quantity up? I'll def go again, I just had to put in the review. Was very disappointed when I'd been been craving risotto AND cacciatore for weeks. The Spaghetti Factory had better cacciatore. Legal assets has a good risotto. I hope things get better! Also, whatever happened to that awesome pre-meal cheesy crouton type bread? It was sooo good! I miss it so much! Party of four visited on a recent Saturday night and the service and food were subpar at best. The staff was inattentive, and seemed as though they couldn't wait for us to leave. We had different servers over the course of our meal (I really don't know who our primary server was), and overall for our party, everyone seemed to think their meal was subpar (and we had been told at the hotel staff that this was the "best" restaurant in town). For an appetizer, we had the calamari, which had little seasoning or taste, and for an entree I personally had the Veal Parmigiana, which was overcooked and chewy, and the pasta that came with it was way overcooked. Others in the party had Risotto, which was undercooked, and the special of the day a rigatoni with veal, which was described as "OK". The topper for the evening was the VERY loud table near us, which the staff fawned over and received an abundance of attention. All-in-all, we were hoping for a much better experience, based on the reviews here and that we got in town. Would we go back? Probably not. For the price, one would expect a much better experience. read more

In town for a wedding and chose Scossa for the first nite. Wine list was good; romantic atmosphere. Our party of four started with the calamari which was not greasy and most importantly not over cooked. Could have used some lemon in my opinion. We enjoyed it. Salads were good; nice to have a choice so we split a few. On to the entrees. Two of us picked risotto. Veal scallopini and chicken parmigiana rounded out the foursome. Risotto was fine; not as creamy as I would have liked. The person who ordered the veal said it was the best ever. Chicken parm was good too. The wait staff shared tables so nothing waited unnecessarily. We'd recommend it to others. Prices were kind of splurgy, but we were away for the weekend so that was ok with us. read more
