I'm not sure Yelp will give me enough space to really explain how great this place is, on so many different levels. Let's start with the beer selection -- out of this world. Verified Untappd venue (iykyk), with what seems like endless taps and an even more impressive selection of cans/bottles. Bartenders are pretty damn knowledgeable about the product as well, which as a beer nerd is perfect. The food is fantastic. From appetizers (the fried vegetables are heaven) to entrees, it's the perfect amalgamation of classic bar food and Indian cuisine. Today when I was in I had the Taphouse (Lamb) Burger with fries and a side of their Makhani sauce (Pic attached). If a place has a lamb burger it's my immediate go to every time, and I have to say Taphouse has the best I've ever had. The lamb was cooked and seasoned perfectly, the vegetables were fresh, and that feta is that perfect accompaniment to round it off. The Makhani sauce is just good on everything. Could drink it. Not kidding. The venue offers a welcoming outdoor area and a semi-private indoor space perfect for events. I've booked Taphouse for both corporate and personal gatherings, and it's the easiest, most reliable spot in the County for hosting by far. Beyond the food and drink, Taphouse, and especially Sunny (the owner) are one of the most community engaged businesses in Southern Maryland. They have put on countless events supporting all types of local organizations, and always work with nonprofits when they need anything. Taphouse and Sunny himself really serve as one of the best ambassadors of St. Mary's County, especially since a large portion of the customers are transient. All in all, 100% a must try if in the area. But be warned, if you do, you will be coming back constantly. read more

Probably the best bar in the lexington park/california/hollywood that has a rotating tap. Some decent outside seating as well, but unfortunately right next to three notch, so it can be loud. They have a very easy tab system for paying, which is nice. The food has been hit or miss for me, one time it will be tasty and other times it will be not the best. read more

Came out here during a work trip. It's like the only place in town so pretty much everyone comes out here after work. I think they called it the 8+1 venue. My first visit (went twice) I stopped by as I was at the hotel next door. The drinks were plenty and so were the people. I enjoyed my beer and I'll tell you what... whew it can get loud. Like... unreasonably loud. I pulled up a sound level meter out of curiosity because it was so loud and it pegged at about 79dB. Which is almost equivalent to a busy city street... in a small footprint. Nonetheless, after my coworker was done with his workout, we came back for dinner. We happened to be there on a Tuesday and it was Taco Tuesday. $3.00 tacos with the exception of 2. I have to admit... those things were pretty darn tasty. I would totally come back and try a few others as I just couldn't finish them all. Overall, I can see why this place is the local dive for the area. It has good food, drinks and meets the need. A great spot to hang out. There is a fairly large parking lot and it was pretty popular already on a Wednesday afternoon. We sat at the bar and Maggie was great. She gave us some small samplers before we ended up ordering a flight. A good number of beers on tap and she provided plenty of recommendations. The flight comes with 4 beers: Sixpoint Hyper Beam - double IPA but a really good fruity flavor. You can definitely taste the passionfruit and guava. Hofbräu Dunkel - pretty good and easy to drink. I didn't mind drinking this. 3 Floyds Apocalypse Cow - not exactly what I was expecting but still pretty decent. Great Lakes Christmas Ale - generally one of my favorite beers and definitely recommend. We did also try the Oskar Blues Maduro Brown and it was a dark brown Ale and somewhat nutty flavor. On a cold winter night in January in Maryland, Taphouse 1637 was packed for the Bar Comedy USA THE PUB & GRUB COMEDY TOUR from Jeremy Jerdog Danley last night, Saturday January 20, 2925 Taphouse 1637 is not only a great place to watch comedy, it is a great place to eat and drink! Those in the crowd got plenty of each. The featured act was Comedian Rick Allen.. a touring comic based in New York City who wrote for The David Letterman Show and now writes for the famous puppet Madam. I opened the show. Before the began, I was fortunate enough to eat dinner at Taphouse 1637 The Indian food is excellent, as are the drinks. I highly recommend the butter chicken with the garlic naan! One does not generally associate Southern Maryland with excellent Indian food but now is the time to start! Taphouse 1637 is a fine sports bar, but much much...a tribute to Sunny the owner, who works the floor to take care of his guests! We've been to the taphouse many times and always have a great experience. Huge beer selection, great variety of martinis and an impressive food menu for a bar. Service is always seamless. On Tuesday's they have taco and margarita specials. Tacos are $3, and are huge. I struggle to finish two. But my favorite thing about the taphouse is all the events, dueling pianos, trivia, drag brunches, etc. there's something for everyone. read more

First time visiting and enjoyed it. Was a networking/group event (active service was appreciated and evident), so the food selection was set .... and was good! The military genre is appreciated and will take time to examine it next visit. Parking is shared with Bollywood, so this may be a challenge for large groups/events. "On the hill" is open and allows you to get your steps in! As noted, Bollywood for dinner (great food in its own right) and over to TH1637 for a nice beverage and catch a game, scores or chat with locals. Best of both worlds! read more

We needed a place to have my son's rehearsal dinner. There were not a lot of options available in the timeframe we needed, and the budget we had decided on. I had never been to the Taphouse (I live in CA), but my son had, and thought that it might work. We are so thankful that we landed here. The private room was the perfect size for our group of 42, and lent itself to the atmosphere we wanted to have for our guests, who ranged from 1 - 88 years old! Our server was fantastic (I wish I can remember her name), and the owner, Sunny, and his crew kept the buffet full! The whole experience put a smile on all our faces. If you visit this place make sure you pay in cash. Their is system messed up in their card transaction process. Paid my bill on Sunday with my debt card, Tuesday it cleared the pending status and was paid, and Wednesday I was charged again. This happened to a couple of people in the group I was with. They claim that this only happens with Navy Fed and PNC and they work normally 99.9% of the time. and it just a hold the bank puts on the card like at a car rental place. Never had happen to anywhere else, just seems scamming to me. The food not bad and the drinks aren't bad either just bring cash so you don't become the 0.01%, because I will not be going back and neither will my group. read more

The most horrendous parking lot negates almost everything except the bathrooms. Most doors don't lock, either because lock is missing or just doesn't align. #awful. Many toilets run non stop. Just moved into town from Arlington. Stopped by to watch the Caps game yesterday and was pleasantly surprised at the atmosphere. The owner talked to us and even ran drinks for us while our server was helping another patron. Drink prices weren't bad (little less than DC prices) and the beer selection was phenomenal. Food selection seems to be pretty much basic bar food, but the pickle fries were to die for. Unsure how busy they get, but a pool table would make this a perfect spot. I went in there on Saturday night for the 1st time in almost 5 years. I paid for my food/drinks and got charged $43.27 which is correct and watched it leave my bank account. Now Tuesday comes around and I get charged for an additional $31.87 and watch that also leave my bank account which is fraudulent because I have not gone in there since Saturday and now both charges are on my account (1 posted and 1 pending). Be careful using your card at Tap House 1637 because it seems whatever portable payment system they have seems to keep a hold of your card on file and may charge you in the future for someone else tab Or they are doing it intentionally. I have my debit card on me too and its not lost so its not someone having my card using it. I will call and get an explanation later but this seems likely shady Practice. I will update if they fix but I have a feeling there going to tell me to go through my bank and not refund me. read more

I usually eat at the restaurant Bollywood and come here for their beer. Beers on tap are Great. However, staff is horrible bartenders waitress are rude, sometimes the bartenders change beer prices and try to ripe you off. This happened to me once again last night. I didn't care for a beer, didn't drink it and asked if I could trade it out. Bartender still charged me for the beer. I've never been to a bar where the the bartenders are rude and try to cheat you. Plus lighting is so bright for a bar. Work on your staff!! read more

The beer selection is better than say, Outback or Cheeseburger but it still isn't as balanced as I had hoped. One token Beligian. No IPA's? Have had all the appetizers. Bacon in a cup was the only one I would order again. Had the Chicken Tilkka (I tihink) and another chicken kabob/ entree. Sooo salty. It's way too loud. (Especially if you accidentally go on karaoke night). The beer selection is great for SOMD and it's always changing. It also has some unique and/or hard to find beers. The food on the other hand is another story. I've had just about everything on the menu and I will not be eating here again unless I am desperate or forced. The food usually comes out cold and takes at least an hour, even on slow days! If you are looking for excellent variety of beers, this is your place! The owner is so devoted to making this bar a meeting place of craft brew lovers. Where else can you get Indian-fusion food and a unique, possibly hard-to-find beer? The Taphouse shares a kitchen with Bollywood Masala and service can occasionally be slow for that reason. However, if you just have another beer, you'll forget all about that! They are always hosting unique events from Ladies' Night to Salsa Lessons. So disappointed with this bar. Went there for happy hour on a Friday evening and there where only four other people there, which should have been a clue to me. Atmosphere and interior are very dumpy. Having grown up in the area and moved away for the past couple years, I finally forced myself to go here. This is a sorely needed spot for craft beer lovers. The selection isn't the best I have ever had but for the area it is incredible. The food is not traditional Indian fare but rather an Americanized bar menu with the occasional Indian touch. I love that the venue was surprisingly spacious and appreciated the bars tv entertainment (we found ourselves glued to the occasional internet video being played). The owner offered up some of his imported Indian snacks from his personal stash as a kind gesture which we greatly appreciated. I would like to see the place better advertised as I feel it has potential to be a true future hangout spot for a youngish crowd. Will definitely visit again for a few moderately priced beers and some above average bar food. read more
