We found this place on a recent trip to Easton, MD located in a nearby shopping center. Our server was amazing and so efficient. The food was just ok. The crab cake was fair, Parmesan grits were lukewarm and dense and veggies were good. My husband had the broiled rockfish which he loved along with the grits (meh) and a vegetable. We split a slice of Smith Island pie which was delicious. Ambiance was lively and there was a small bar area as well. read more

Super casual restaurant. Our service was fine. Waitress was nice and friendly. We ordered calamari and cream of crab for starters. For entrees, grilled cheese w/ cream of crab soup, fish and taters (hush puppies on side), rockfish poboy, Cuban and a grilled salmon salad. The good stuff. The calamari came out hot and crispy with a spiced cocktail sauce. It was tasty. It didn't have fried tentacles which, for me, was a bummer bc it's the most flavors part! The salmon salad was fresh and the fish was grilled nicely. The vinaigrette wrapped it all together. The hush puppies were crispy and moist on the inside. It was the best thing we ate there. The mid stuff. The Cuban didn't come on the typical roll. It was a brioche. The mustard was stone ground not yellow. And, the pork was dry. My rockfish poboy was tasty but there was more bread than fish. The fish in the fish and taters had a strange sweet spice to the oil. Maybe the frying oil needs changing? It was also salty for me. I asked the server a few questions about some of the seafood dishes and she told me that everything I asked about was frozen products. Headwater Grill is fairly new. Open since 2019 and in a great location with open indoor seating and a nice patio area. Nestled in a shopping center, parking was a breeze. I opted for the blue catfish with creamy parmesan grits and a crab soup. The catfish was perfectly cooked, tender, and flavorful, while the parmesan grits were a comforting and very cheesy. My friend chose the rockfish and shrimp served with grits, and it was impressive, flavorful and a large portion. The standout drink of the evening was undoubtedly the orange crushes, which were vibrant and perfectly balanced. While the service was generally attentive and our server was exceptionally friendly, there was a slight hiccup when my crab soup was forgotten and, upon arrival, was disappointingly lacking in crab meat. However, this minor oversight did not overshadow the overall quality of the meal. Despite this small setback, my experience at Headwater Grill was positive. The quick service, delicious food, and welcoming atmosphere left a lasting impression. We called ahead for our party of 13. Were told they could serve us. Service was HORRIBLE & extremely slow! It took over 2 1/2 hrs to receive all our food and some had to take it to go because they had taken so long. The one person who ordered the rock fish. The Waitress kept saying "it's on the grill now" but the manager said "the problem was the cook was late and did t defrost it". Instead of telling him they couldn't make it, they just kept lying. I refuse to believe Headwaters isn't a huge fan favorite among Easton locals. Seriously, if I were a local, I shudder to think how often I'd eat here. First, you gotta love the location. Right in the middle of a giant parking lot. On approach, it feels like you're driving up to a giant department store. I think they may be connected to one. Or some giant factory. So yeah, lotta pavement. In fact, the little patio area is like a sliver of pavement surrounded by a sea of pavement. Not much to look at. But you do get a nice breeze coming off the parking lot. Headwaters isn't a flashy place by any means. I don't even think they have a single pasta dish on the menu. It's just essentially what amounts to heaping portions of fresh seafood piled on top of your plate. I honestly can't remember in recent times when I felt a moment of pure, uncomplicated delight like the one I had that evening sitting in that abyss of concrete. Everything was served piping hot. Loved how all the fried food was golden and crispy. The food hit the mark on all levels. Live long and enjoy a happy life, said the fortune cookie. I'd recommend this place to anyone with a pulse. The food is delicious but this is about extraordinary service and kindness that I experienced from the owner. On Sunday I was headed to Easton (85 miles) to surprise a friend who was hospitalized. Calls were made to several local carryout type places to get a crabcrake to brighten the visit. Alas on Sunday that proved difficult. I called Headwaters to order only to discover that they only do brunch on Sunday. I explained my plot and asked if they could recommend a possible location to acquire the crabcake..Much to my surprise he said I will do it so you can take it to the hospital. Honestly that type of goodness deserves recognition. I ordered two so my so in law could also have one left a generous tip and took what I am told by both who ate them that they were excellent as well. Kids shrimp came with tots. Price was about $26 total. The food was, well - not good....but the staff was decent so I won'y say horrid experience but I won't return. The shrimp when crunchy like that make me think of bagged frozen shrimp. The fish smelled weird and the batter was too much of something - couldn't eat it. The tots were warm and choppy - not cooked well and had the seasoning too - maybe old bay ? it was red and sprinkled but I did not like it - could not eat. This is a nice charming restaurant with terrific food and hospitality. We stopped by for dinner on a whim during a road trip and were very glad we did! They had a good number of people, but the lofted ceilings made the restaurant feel spaceous and airy and not crowded at all. We were able to see the kitchen, and all the food got served immediately after they were ready so they never sat too long and were pipping hot. We got the crab stuffed rockfish and fried cod and both tasted super fresh. We also got fried clams but ate it so fast we forgot to take a picture (it was that good!) Collard greens were fresh and smokey tasting which added to the depths of the flavor. They have great service and offer a full bar, with excellent beverages. It's sort of tucked away from things do you might miss it. Best fried oysters in the area!!! All the food we have gotten here has been very good. For the most part, service is very slow. We waited for over an hour for our lunch one time. There is no ambiance except for outside. It is very noisy inside and the high ceilings don't help. But we love the food. Never had a bad meal here, lunch or dinner. And the Servers are very nice. They were out if tots, so I ordered waffle fries. The waffle fries did not resemble waffle fries at all, they were over fried, crunchy, little pieces of potatoes. The lamb burger was supposed to be cooked medium was well done and burnt on the outside. It was very dry and just okay. We also ordered rockfish platter which was better but needed some seasoning, on the plain side. The hushpuppies were also in need of seasoning, very dry and overcooked too.
