This review pertains only to rural pickup. In 10 years, I remember only one or two times pickup was missed. A call brought them out to fix it. Dispatchers are polite. One such late-night pickup was done by a surly employee, but I didn't request late-night pickup. They have picked up large items (e.g. mattress) left by litterers. The new cans have improved the looks of the pickup station and made it easier to put out cans. Sometimes trash is spilled during pickup and cans left fallen-over after pickup. Need better information on what to do with batteries and florescent bulbs. read more

In the two years I've had service with this company they have failed to pick up the green can four, possibly 5 times now. When I call to complain I'm told they will try to get a truck to pick up within 48 hours. Only once in the 4-5 times have they actually followed through. I'm tired of paying for a service I'm not getting and if things don't change I will do more than just complain about it in a review. And with regard to reviews is anyone at the company even paying attention to all of these negative reviews? read more

Horrible service. I had a missed pick up and literally have made 6 phone calls to both Phoenix office and grass valley office. Driver claims can was not out, but it was put out the night before. Told over and over, can will be picked up by 6. Can has been sitting there for 8 days now. I will continue to call until that can is picked up. Driver needs to own up to all the missed cans on the route. Cowardly liar! read more

This is in regard to my previous review. The local Route Manager Travis Ford did get hold of me and came to my house and emptied my recycling bin. So my poor experience with WM customer service was followed by excellent response from the local manager. read more

Waste Management of Nev. County is the worse service provider that I have ever dealt with. It took them over 6 weeks to deliver our new cans and once we did get the new cans, they didn't pick up our trash for two weeks. We live in a gated community where you can't just leave trash outside of your house and not be reprimanded for it. This past weekend we came back from a 4 day camping trip, with lots of trash, and to our surprise our cans were taken from behind our deck. I called WM to see what the deal was and they said they made a mistake and that our cans should be back by next week. I am extremely bothered that they came on our property and went behind our deck where the cans are NOT visible from the road. I requested to speak to a supervisor who was a sarcastic jerk so now I'm stuck with excess trash, no cans, and no idea when I'll get my cans back. It's too bad that there isn't another trash service provider in the area because I would leave WM in a heart beat. read more

When you are the only service provider in the community, you can behave as badly as you want to. That is what Waste Management of Nevada County proves time and time again. They occasionally decide to not pick up the trash or recycle, and then when you call they tell you to leave it out and the driver will come back. They never do. If you leave it out, it will sit until the following week (or TWO weeks if it is recycle). Trust me, I've tried. They have outsourced their "customer service" to some other place (Arizona, I believe), and they advise you to leave garbage bags out on the sidewalk for pickup if they get missed. I have told them "clearly you don't live in Grass Valley because we can't just leave garbage out on the street due to animals that tear into it overnight". They simply do not care. Save your money and drive your trash to the dump personally (or pay some kid to do it) because the irritation this company will cause you is NOT worth the erratic convenience it offers. read more

Very unreliable service lately. I put the recycle out according to the schedule I was provided and no one picked it up. I put out the green waste on the day provided and again no one picked it up. I intend to start calling daily until I get service. We pay on the automatic plan so I know it is not the bill. so the guy who is supposed to pick up our trash is inconsiderate and INCOMPETENT!! we have been having problems with this company for going on a month now. It all started when he failed to pick up our trash one week, making a note to his employer that the can was not out. That was a lie, it was out. So naturally, the next week our trash can is loaded full since he did not pick it up the week before. We came out later to find our can partially emptied but 2 bags of trash on the ground by our can. We called waste management who offered us extra pickup for around $7. So we explained to her that we shouldn't have to pay for extra service, this all started because he failed to pick up our trash one week AND WE ALREADY PAY MONTHLY FOR THAT. Anyways, she told us he would be back later that day to pick up the bags and he never showed up. So we still have these extra trash bags for the 3rd or 4th week now so we called again and the woman on the phone at waste management told us that he just keeps putting in a note that says the cans weren't out at the curb so they asked him to take a photo showing the can wasn't there and he never did. At that point, we thought we were getting somewhere because she then assisted us in filing a complaint about him specifically. When it was trash pickup time again the MF only picked up part of our trash again. read more

I was receiving garbage service and have been putting my cans out every morning they are to pick up and have been fairly successful at getting my garbage picked up. I live in a very rural area and we have about 25 neighbors that put out cans every pickup day. I became slightly behind on the bill and received a emailing stating need to make a payment or service would be stopped. Made a payment for over half the amount owed and continued on with putting my garbage out. The next week they did not take our garbage and I usually did not pick up the can right away so was not aware. Something knocked over the garbage can and spread out the garbage, I was not aware our garbage had not been picked up or that the can had been knocked over, so a neighbor complained to waste management and they came out and got the garbage and took the can. I received a phone call three days after the incident for the first time. They then reported me to the county for a incident that could have been easily avoided if I had been notified of the stop in service or the garbage can being knocked over. They have since continued to bill me for service I am not receiving even though they took their garbage can. They have also after 30 years of garbage service for my grandmother and the apartments she owns continually not picked up the garbage and continued to charge her for service. I wish someone else would offer service for garbage they would definitely have my business. read more
