Finally made it to this place as it's out of our way but worth the trip. We had both variations of their summer rolls and the bao bun sandwich appetizers. All were excellent. I had the R9 bed stew with noodles. Again, excellent. Beef in nearly every bite. Everyone in our party was happy with their meals and we even had dessert boba drinks. My daughter loved her honey dew smoothie and my wife's node peach tea was very good. I was less than impressed with my rainbow drink but will happily try something else next time. I've had Pho in dozens of restaurants in the Houston area since first introduced to it over twenty years ago by an Asian friend. The atmosphere here was clean and spacious. I had Pho Tai and Bahn Mi Thit Nuong. The pho was clear and the beef was lean and thinly sliced and presented beautifully. The bahn mi was so very good. I went here two day In a row. The first day, I tried chicken pho. It was very good. The soup had a very natural flavor (no strong chemical seasoning) and the chicken was very tender. The next day, I tried pork BBQ banh mi (sub). It was delicious!!! The toasted French bread was crispy on the outside and perfect inside. The meat was great. My husband & I have come here several times for the pho. We've tried 2 other places in the area and this is better than both by a large margin. My partner called to see if I wanted to have lunch. She chose this place. I was less than thrilled, but I figured I'd find something I would eat. I actually managed to find several things I would eat, but settled on egg rolls (delicious) and Kill Da Cook. It's their hottest dish, with ramen noodles, cabbage, sliced steak and an egg. It was almost insanely hot. I love insanely hot. The only thing that could have been better was that the sliced steak on it was really dry and kind of gray. But other than that, I left with no desire to kill da cook. I couldn't tell you what my partner got, but it had really good pork in it. The coffee she had was also really, really good. The Good: First time at Wat da Pho today and overall had a great experience. We were greeted right away and our waiter helped guide us through the menu to make some selections. The food came out pretty quickly and was very tasty! I have not had much Vietnamese food previously so I do not know how it stands up to others. I was impressed with the number of dishes labeled as vegan on the menu. I will definitely be back! The Less Good: Aside from dropping the food off the waiter never checked on us again except when I flagged him down after we'd finished to ask for a much needed drink refill. The Bad (for vegans only): There are at least a half dozen items on the menu labeled as vegan. The "vegan curry fried rice" I ordered came with a mayonnaise based sauce. There's another dish on the menu labeled as vegan that is made with egg noodles...Clearly they do not have a handle on the definition of vegan so make sure you ask lots of questions about what's in your food even if the menu states it is a vegan dish. read more

My wife *loves* Asian food. Korean, Japanese, Chinese, you name it. But her favorite? Probably Vietnamese. Even more than sushi, she loves a steaming hot bowl of pho. Anytime we're at North Market, that's her first stop, while I usually go for the Indian or barbecue. So, when she noticed What da Pho going in, over near Fairfield Commons, our course was absolutely set. Now, I'm not too familiar with Vietnamese food, outside of what Jules has gotten and from me watching Anthony Bourdain slurp down noodles with Barack Obama on CNN. But, damned if it didn't look good, and I was sure after some of that. So, with just a few days before the Xmas holiday, we chose to fill up on pho before our last minute holiday shopping and a late showing of "The Last Jedi". Oh, man. I was not disappointed. My bowl was easily as large as my head, full of a savory broth with just a hint of anise, with a mass of thin rice noodles and glorious slices of meatball and steak floating in the broth. Jules' came out with a fiery orange hue, which she slurped up with abandon. With our meal came some customary condiments--Thai basil, cilantro, bean sprouts, lime, and a few others. I find that I like mine with a squeeze of lime, some black pepper, and a single stripe of Sriracha sauce... Even better? We ordered a set of bbq pork steam buns prior to our meal. Ohhh, I could eat those every day; if you're going, give these a run! My biggest regret for What da Pho was simply my omission of the colorful fruity drinks that lined the walls. The pho, the pretty little BBQ pork buns, the spring rolls and egg rolls, the banh mi pork sandwiches and the pork vermicelli dish are all WONDERFUL. The new place is more spacious, very trendy and chic but still with amazing food. As a vegetarian, there are many options. The veggie pho's are flavorful and appealing. Food is delicious but spice and service can be varying. I've have the authentic Tom Yum twice and one time it was perfect and the next it was so spicy I couldn't even drink the broth. This is the best Vietnamese spot in Dayton. This is my second time here and I can say that their vermicelli and pho is the best and fresh. I always go for the beef and it taste fresh and home made. Definitely the go to place if you want the best pho or vermicelli in town. As for their bahn mi, I didn't find anything too special about it and there's probably other places that do it better. Outside of that, would definitely recommend adding a Vietnamese iced coffee or Thai iced tea with your meal. This is my favorite vietnamese restaurant in Fairborn area. The food is very good. Very authentic and the texture is consistent with vietnamese cuisine. The only reason I deducted a star is it can be crowded during lunch so you may not get a table for at least 30 mins and the restaurant is right next to a smoke shop so the air can be filled with cigar smell in certain corners of the restaurant. Fun place to eat! Large potions. Decently priced. I really loved the crab Rangoon's. I thought that "soup" couldn't fill me up but the bowl never emptied! Trying out different places that serve pho in the Dayton area, and it's been hard finding something that can compare to the Bay Area pho. Love this little place. Nicely decorated, staff friendly and greet you immediately when walking in. Waited on within 3 minutes of sitting down. Appears nicely clean, bright. After ordering, the food came in about 10 min or so. Some choices for adding to the pho: lime, bean sprouts, cilantro, basil, and jalapeño. The broth itself really doesn't need any flavoring, which is why this gets 5 stars. I love a strong broth and added way less to it than I usually do. When my coworkers decided to have dinner here I wasn't thrilled because of the name (I'm from Cali, so I know in order for a pho place to be legit it has to have some numbers in the name). Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the pho here. Their broth is savory and rich. Their noodles are just the right texture. They provide all the necessary veggies/herbs on the side as well as sauces. They actually have tendons and tripe!! It's a bit pricy for pho but I'd say they have a monopoly on the pho game in Dayton. It is so great to have a Pho shop near where I live. Pho is a wonderful thing on a cold day and it isn't too bad on a hot day either. The crew at Wat da Pho delivers big flavor and good food at a decent price and enough to fill the belly. I personally waffle back and forth with getting either the veggie option (which is chock full of veggies!) or the #1 option which is just the noodles and beef tenderloin. Following a full day visit at the nearby USAF National Museum, we were looking for a quick, casual dinner before checkiing in to our hotel for the night. It was just the two of us and we ordered four things to split between us. You started with steamed shrimp dumplings and they were good. The only quibble I have is that the wrapper skin was a little bit on the thick side. Then we both shared the traditional beef noodle soup, Pho, and a Pad Thai and a Chicken Vermicelli Salad. The soup was outstanding. I enjoyed it thoroughly and the broth was flavorful and complex. And there was a nice balance between the beef protein and the amount of noodles. The Pad Thai was also very good. However, the noodles were a bit too 'al dente.' The chicken vermicelli salad would have been better if the chicken had been marinated and grilled on a barbecue over a live fire. Service was good and the prices were quite reasonable. read more
