John was great to work with, replacing the soles of a pair of moose moccasins I brought in. The price was very fair and he agreed to ship them to me, as I live in New Hampshire. I was recently in Waltham again, and regret that I didn't bring another pair in for repair. read more

Look carefully at the timeline below, and you can see a clear dividing line between "good" and "meh". There was an ownership change a while back, and the new owner is everything the other reviews state - indifferent, uninformed, and surly. I also concur with the poorly-stored comment; I've picked up dry twigs to start a fire that have had more moisture in them. The selection is the best thing about this place and the only reason I gave it two stars. The person working the counter was disinterested and spends most of his time in the bodega next door. Floor and ashtrays are dirty and the three armchairs have outlived their useful life. Also in major need of some air purification. I have been in mancaves with better ventilation. The two ceiling fans just push the smoke around the not very large sitting area. The place has potential if it only had management/ownership that actually cared about cigars and customers. read more

Worst experience buying cigars EVER. Looked online for their prices on Ashton Classic panetelas, and they are listed at $8.35 or something like that for singles. That is about average for these sticks. When I went to the store, a very surly-looking guy didn't acknowledge my friendly "how are ya" one bit. In fact, he looked peeved that I was even there. I gave him the two (2) cigars and he rang them up. Their register does not show how much the items are, so when he gave me my receipt to sign, it read $25.85. I looked at him, and asked how much they were each. He said "$11.99". I said, "really??" He just stared at me. So I stared back. "For Ashton panetelas??" I asked. He nodded and kept staring at me. I signed my receipt grabbed my sticks and walked out. I needed the cigars for a meeting, otherwise I would have just walked out after I made him refund my money. I can assure you that will be the last time I walk in that store. read more

I went in there this week. I spent a few minutes looking at the selection for a specific brand. Nobody there to help. I took a different brand and waited to pay. Finally a woman looked in, didn't acknowledge me, looked out. Then a guy walks in and I pay. No greeting. And I smoke the thing, it's dry as autumn leaves. Clearly hasn't been stored properly. Don't think these people know anything about cigars. All together a pretty bad experience. I won't be back. read more

One of the best cigar shops around. Huge selection from mild to strong. They allow you to smoke cigars there, but my only recommendation is better ventilation. If you walk in there for just five minutes you walk out wreaking of cigar smoke. But, I always get consistent sticks here, his humidor is properly maintained and I've never had a dried out or bad smoke yet. The owner also makes good recommendations and doesn't try to steer you towards the most expensive cigars in the store, unlike some other cigar stores. read more

A solid cigar shop in downtown Waltham. They have a solid selection of old school brands, so if you're in the market for a Macanudo or a Fuente you're in luck. Even if you want the harder to get ones, like Opus X. If you're more of a new school type then there's slimmer pickings here, as the stock of Tatuaje and Illusione and My Father is smaller. read more

This place is great! Neil is attentive and he knows his cigars. Product wise, the store packs a punch. It has all the major brands. It also features whatever is hot and fairly priced on cigar aficionado's list. The place is laid back and inexpensive without being cheap. The regulars are inviting. I used to kid them that this was a old-time club without a maintenance fee. It is an easy place to sit for a few hours and make new friends. High recommendations. read more
