Nice selection of gently used, reconditioned, good quality watches. Got a women's Seiko w a few tiny diamonds on it for about $177.

Never been to this shop, but found it by Google search and figured I'd support a small business. Older gentleman was the only one in the shop - he took my watch and said he'd take a look. He opened up the watch and said the battery was "like new". I said, "Well thanks, I don't want to waste your time." He says, "Well, I've already got this all opened up." (!) I wait a few more minutes for him to tell me more, or return my watch. Nothing. After about 15 minutes of waiting, he finally exclaims from his workbench, "You may have to leave this here a while - I've never opened one of these up before and [nothing's going back together like it should]." I left my name and phone number and asked him to call me when it was ready to pick up. This was on Friday at lunchtime. No call comes the rest of the day, or the next day. Closed on Sunday, still no call Monday. Finally, after work Monday I go by to pick up the watch. He hands me the watch and says nothing. I say, "Did you end up putting a new battery in?" He says, "That one's like new." (So, no.) I say, "Do I owe you anything?" He says, "Well, I gotta charge you $12 for taking that thing apart and putting it back together." Here's the thing, I'm all about supporting the little guy and honoring their time. But what about my time? Dude took my watch apart without knowing he could put it back together, then never called to say it was done, kept it for three days, and didn't actually DO anything. If it was my shop, I might say, "Hey, I'm not gonna charge you today because I kept it for so long and didn't actually do any repair on it. Have a nice day. Come see me when the watch actually stops and we'll get it fixed up." Instead, the guy got his $12, but I'll never go back there again.

Some silently told the time, some continued to strike the hour but failed to add the Westminster chime, some randomly played a fragment of the chime but never anything else, and one never did anything at all (but I could tell by manually dropping the hammer how beautiful it would sound if it could ever run again). Then there was my pride and joy, the cuckoo clock, that I had repaired 30 years ago. Over time it stopped again -- first with its music box, then with the birdy, and then it wouldn't let me wind it at all. I had always intended to get them fixed, if circumstances ever allowed-- but my two local clock repair fellows died before I got around to it. The expenditure moved high on my priority list when the one remaining cuckoo clock repair place I knew of quit, too. Imagine my delight to discover a man in Saugatuck who was willing to tackle them all! He listened to the history of each clock and its ails, he explained how pricing would depend on required work--ranging from simple cleaning to more extensive repair or replacement of parts, if parts could be found. I explained my budget and priorities, and I left hoping he might be able to fix at least one or two of them. I picked them ALL up yesterday! He showed me how to hang the pendulums and set each clock, and packed them for safe transport in the car. Back home now they all keep time accurately, they all chime beautifully, and I was happy to discover as a bonus that the one that had never run at all even has a lovely sound as it ticks. I couldn't be a happier customer. Thanks, Mr. Dirkse.
