We visit Fort Collins every year for the holidays and when we saw this place I had to go in even though I maxed my budget already for the week. That was until I saw the perfect casual midi length sweater jacket. It was a white/grey/black knit blend and fit perfectly and goes with everything. I immediately purchased it because it was a sign from the universe I had to have it. Overall, the items are all quite affordable. I believe the jacket was around $72. The shop as a whole was crisp and clean with such a lovely selection of tops, jeans, jackets, accessories, and more. We spent some time chatting with the shop employee, who offered up some fun outing ideas for us during our stay. I can't wait to visit again and probably will poke around their online store too until we're back in CO again soon.

This review is specifically for The Cupboard's knife sharpening service…read more I had several issues with the service: I was told the sharpening would take 48 hours. No one contacted me within that timeframe, so I waited an extra day and called myself. Only then was I told it was finished. The knife came back with a burr on the tip that I had to remove on my own. A sharpening service should inspect their work and handle basic finishing before returning the knife. The knife was damaged, and nothing was mentioned to me. It looks like a mechanical sharpening tool was used, and it left a noticeable gouge in the finish. This is a $250 Benchmade pocket knife that was essentially like new. Overall, I'm very disappointed. The communication was poor, the knife wasn't ready when promised, the finishing work was subpar, and they damaged an expensive knife without acknowledging it. I only noticed the damage when I got home. While the knife still functions, it's extremely frustrating to have your property damaged and not be informed.

I am a sucker for an independent bookstore. It is a lovely space, right next to a quality tea…read moreshop. My favorite feature is the mystery book section near the front. These are books wrapped in brown paper, with a few descriptors on the front, and a quotation from the book along the spine. These books are not for sale per say, but you can make a donation to a rotating charity (when I was there it was for an organization that supported farm education for youth). I was introduced to this shop by my college-age son, who brought home a whole stack of these mystery books at Christmas and each of us got to pick one on Christmas morning (based on nothing but the descriptors and quotation). It was really delightful for our bibliophile family. If I were a FoCo local, I fear I would be in here on a very regular basis.
