This a pretty decent comic book store located along the waterfront in Suisun. The location was easy to find and so was parking on the street. They have LOTS of comics, although it kinda seemed like a cave as the paperbacks went from floor to ceiling. My son even found a comic that he liked. read more

Waterfront gets 4 stars from me because I think they're the best comic book shop in Solano County, but I've been to better within a 30-40 minute drive. They have a good new comic shelf, and a decent back issue longbox collection. They have a couple of shelves dedicated to kids comics, which was cool, but Empire's in Sacramento has little chairs for them to kick back and relax. ***Hint hint*** Waterfront is named as such because they're in the waterfront district of Suisun. Thus, they're shop is located in a pretty cool looking building and area. I like the aura of the place, but it also means that space is tight. On Wednesday release days, it gets really hard to move around. If someone is there looking at the back issue boxes, forget about it! It doesn't feel as welcoming as other shops I've been to (at least at first), but the staff is helpful. One of the guys didn't know they had single issues of a certain comic I wanted (which they did), but I don't knock shops too much for that. As long as the shop is organized (which this one was), I know my alphabet enough to dig for them myself. They tag comics on their new releases rack as "new this week", etc. But, I wished that they would label their back issue boxes with the letters/numbers of the titles that are inside them to prevent customers like me from opening 3+ boxes before getting to the correct one. ***Hint hint*** I also need to mention that they have a pretty good website. A lot of comic shops have useless and ugly websites. Waterfront's is one of the better ones that I've seen. I think they could do more with it, but whatever. Although their blog is out of date, they utilize comixology.com's pull list for their weekly releases, which is awesome! Additionally, they participate with Diamond Comic Distributors, which makes it easy for customers to identify comics they want. They are also labeled as a kid-friendly comic shop, and a school and library partner by the DCD, which is another huge plus. I'd go back again, and again, and again. . . read more

Great selection of comics and huge a huge assortment of memorabilia. If I had one comic shop to go to for the rest of my life it would be to this store. No coincidence that it happens to be the only comic shop for miles in any direction. The owner has always been extremely friendly and insightful. The one complaint I have is that no one ever called me back for the comic that I requested be ordered, so I never got it. Also, thr neighborhood isn't the greatest, but it could be worse. So If you're looking for a gem on the waterfront after having a bite to eat at one of suisun city's wonderful restaurant's, and you're in the mood for some light reading, come to waterfront comics. I actually brought my daughter in a few times and the owner wasn't impolite or rude about her being in the store, some people get kind of assholian if you bring them in so that they can man handle all the merchandise. So kudos to you guys, I'll be paying you a visit in the near (five minutes) future. read more

John, I hope your reading this. When I first moved to Suisun 2 years ago, I moved to the area only to get away from the busy-ness of Silicon Valley. I rediscovered my love for comics because of this store. Like many folks have mentioned, it's very well stocked and the customer service is very friendly. I'd recommend to save your time & visit another shop. As much as I gave this place several tries, the organization and cleanliness is always a big issue. There's plenty of other shops in Sac or the Bay Area. Place always looks dirty and hard to sort thru comic books when there's always piles on top of everything and all over the floor. The two times I came in, noticed a dirty & opened tupperware with utensils and leftover food on top of the comic books which is not only unsanitary to customers to see but also just careless to leave on top of comic books & also noticed a dead cockroach towards the back. Guy who works there seems to not care or acknowledge you even when you're trying to check out, he's too busy talking to other people instead of helping you check out. I'd give this place another try but until they can actually organize their shop and clean up, i'd rather recommend you to go to Sac or Berkeley comic shops, much more organized and clean shops there. read more

This place is awesome! I have gotten 2 castlevania comics here for free on the free comic book day and they do this every year or so but check it out if you like comics and reading. P.S I got a bunch of free comics like sonic and transformers here to on the free comic book day before,and they also had star wars storm troopers outside so that was awesome! read more

I'm disappointed in many of the reviews here. I've been a regular customer for 10 years and the service has been an 8 out of 10 in the worst case, and 10 for 10 most of the time. I'm not talking about the service I receive; I'm a regular. I'm talking about what I observe while I'm shopping. I've noticed that the posted hours have been regularly updated in the last two years, which was the only complaint I ever had. The new books are regularly labeled with "new this week" and "new last week", which makes it really easy to find new books. Highest recommendation. read more

So the owner of this place will not let you buy multiple copies of a comic. When I went to the register to buy about $70 bucks worth of books, he took over half of them and put them to the side and said I couldn't buy multiple copies. I thought selling books is what a comic book store is supposed to do. My brother wanted the same books and had to get them online instead. I guess you have to be a regular here to get the "good ol' boy" treatment. This was probably the third time I been there and spend a good amount every time. After the last visit, it will be my "last visit". I would say go to Boys of Summer not too far away in Vacaville. The owner is a super cool guy and will let you buy whatever you want like a good store should. I felt like the bearded owner at this dark and dungy place thinks he has a monopoly on comics and in my opinion is pretty shady. I guess at this store the customer is not always right... read more

I don't know if the guy running this place has any respect for anyone. The quality of his older selection is ruined by the layers of dirt on the books. Most books are sleaved, mostly not boarded. Simply taping the packaging shut would cause a great improvement. I picked up some back issues to find them full if grit. He's not very customer service oriented. Although they have a good variety and plenty of comics to choose from, the lack of customer service and non commitment to their business hours earns them a 1 star. The first time I was at their store I would ask for help, the person at the counter just pointed at the racks and said,"it should be somewhere over there." He didn't even bother to assist, nor did he seem to care. The second time I stopped by on a Monday (during business hours) the store was closed. I've been going here off and on for a few years. I have tried multiple times to like it, but I can't. As an avid comic collector and fan of figures/mtg I have gone here as its one of the few stores around here to get my fix. Pro: There is a good selection of comics. Con: Rudeness. I have never ever been greeted really. I have never been asked if I need help, and the atmosphere is just cold? The main guy is always just on his computer, mostly Facebook. Even when purchasing things I don't even get eye contact or a smile. Just a price and a goodbye. One of the smallest, laid back, pressure free, personal comic book stores in the entire suisun/fairfield area. Water Front is super friendly from the moment you walk in. Who ever is at the cash register greets you as long as they arent busy. Their selection is amazing for a small space but if you cant find anything the owner will order it and personally call or text you when it is in. The occasional locals are in their chatting it up but this store is ran like a mom and pop shop and if you want some help...simply speak up. after all its not like youre talking to a hot girl asking her to prom. But i guess thats what you get with comic fans ;) They will help you to your hearts content. And are knowledgeable.....crazy delicious knowledgeable. read more

I don't get to go here as much as I like, but when I do, I'm always satisfied with what they have in stock. I never really have trouble getting the issue or trade I want, and If I do whoever is on duty is really nice about telling me what's going on with it. I hope the owner of this establishment checks these reviews. I stopped by at 11:30 and there was a sign stating "back at 3:30". When I return before 5pm, the sign is gone and no one is there. I see reviews from over a year ago where people are explaining the same situation. Leaving customers frustrated and disappointed. I'm not sure if I, or others, would return after experiencing that. First off, let me say I have no interest in buying comics, so I don't know the details of what an avid comic book buyer would appreciate. But that said this store rocks! John and his wife are friendly and know how to keep interest in the store with promotions like free comic book day. I'm normally interested in card protectors and deck holders for MTG, and the service there is great. The fact that this business has been around for so long says a lot about how well it's run. Simply put, this is the best comic book store in the area. I've been going to Waterfront on and off for the last four years and John, the owner and Jamie, his wife are both very friendly and always take some time to greet me, say hello and often talk comics. John made a point to remember my name when I was new to the shop and offered honest and helpful suggestions when I was still new to comics. The shop has a fantastic graphic novel and trade paperback collection. There is also a ton of back issues, most of which are a dollar each. The back issues could be a bit more organized, but good things come to those who dig. I've found stacks of good stuff plenty of times. John can be a bit quiet at times, but he is a great guy and has hooked me up many times. He's sold me long out of print trades for cover price. Bags and boards come free with new books, which is another plus. The only fault I have with Waterfront is the lack of a subscription service. I've talked with John before about this and he said that he's been burned too many times in the past, which is understandable. 90% of the time the new books will be in stock, so it's not usually an issue, but for someone who can only make it down there once or twice a month, a pull would be great. If you like comics and you live in the area, this shop is your best option. It may not be as great as A1 in Sac, but it's an awesome shop with a great owner. read more

I was really surprised to find such a well-stocked comic shop in Suisun City. They had almost everything we were looking for, and offered to order items that weren't in stock. Dirty, Dingy and Gross. The comics and trades towards the front of the store are faded and moldy. Traversing the piles of crap in the long boxes out front and piled in the front of the store is a joke. The owner John is very nice and as other reviews have said he is always on his computer. But one of my biggest problems is that when I first started going there and asked for a book he didn't have I asked if there was another shop around I could go to. His response was no, this is a lie. Boys of Summer in Vacaville is a great comic shop with great customer service. I still try to go to Waterfront only when I have to have something and have been there on a couple other occasions when another customer has asked the same question and he lied to them also. Funny but Kevin at Boys of Summer always sends customers to him when he doesn't have what their looking for. read more

Every time I step foot into this store i feel welcomed. Whenever I have a question, John helps me by either looking it up, or showing me where in the store the item is located. This comic book store is a ton of fun to just go into and see what treasure you can find. They have so many old books that are hard to find now. Also they have the store very very VERY well organized. I have OCD and it is nice to see all the labels saying what is old what is new and everything is A-Z. John is always super nice. This store usually has a good stock (they were out once or twice of new big releases, no big deal, as they got them in the next week.) John always offers a greeting and friendly conversation. Their stock is all alphabetical making it super easy to find the titles you want. Iv'e visited Waterfront Comics many times and find it charming. I love the news stand ambiance. I can browse quietly and imagine that I am a crimefighter or a super hero. If I want to, I can learn the comic book lingo by engaging in friendly conversation with the staff. They also have a cool statue of Spider Man to greet me at the door. I really like this place. John, the owner is a nice fellow and his comic selection is huge! Neat and organized, even though he is working out of a small venue. I know a place that can take notes from this guy about tidying up a place for business. Even though his main target isn't what I'm after(cards), he has a what I need when I need it. The only thing I can picture them doing to make me give this place a 5 star rating is have a larger selection of what I want and sell rare singles.
