The stars I am giving this place are for the view. Sitting outside on the lake seemed like a great time, and that part was, but the food was bad. The burgers taste frozen and they are served with chips instead of fries. Huge disappointment. I was going to order a lobster roll, but they ran out and that is probably a blessing. Food is ok nothing special but not bad they seem to run out of things often though even on a slow week. What's the point of a menu if you can't make half the menu. Drinks are good. Service by waitress is always slow. Great in warm weather to sit on the deck and you can pull your boat up to the docks. The club upstairs has no ventilation but good music. read more

Took a chance because the lake view was beautiful. Should have listened to the previous reviews. Called an hour ahead because we had a large group. When we arrived, found the place was very run down. There was an area on the deck reserved for us but that meant a few metal tables were simply thrown to the side in a back corner. Apparently we were expected to set up our own tables on the deck. Metal chairs were hot in the sun and we could not really see the lake, so we opted to sit in the bar in small groups instead due to the heat. Once we ordered, we found the kitchen was not equipped to deal with a large party as food was very slow and sporadic to arrive. We were not in a rush so we patiently waited. However, it was a good hour between the first person receiving their food and the last. Appetizers arrived 20 min after the sandwiches or not at all. Overall, the food was not good. Steak and cheese was served on hot dog rolls. Chicken parm sandwich was over cooked and dry. Sandwiches came with a bag of Lays chips. (No substitutions) For the cost, you would expect at least fries. Waitress was friendly and accommodating. However clearly not a place we would ever recommend, nor would we return. read more

this place is great for a local experience while in the "quiet corner". -views are great (located right on Lake Chaubunagungamaug...yes that's the proper name. It's also refered to as webster lake for those that are challenged by the multisyllabic). -huge outdoor deck area for those warm summer days (or late oct thx to this global warming thing. I hadn't been here in years, probably close to ten, but was invited to venture down for the inaugural cruise of the Indian Princess paddleboat. The parking arrangements still need work...I am surprised no other reviewers (that I saw when I perused) have mentioned that. The lot is a free-for-all of unmarked spaces and seems to be shared by random local residents and their visitors. I was very concerned about parking my collectible antique car there. The atmosphere is still quite friendly and not too loud. The place is showing its age but has held up fairly well. There were a couple of loud people at the bar, but for the most part that is to be expected anywhere. Service was average both at the bar and once we got a table. The beer selection is limited and will be disappointing for the microbrew fan such as myself. Alas, they do have enough of a selection that most beer drinkers will find something to enjoy. Everything my party ordered seemed fresh and was cold, and the glasses were clean, which made the experience a good one. Those who ordered mixed drinks said that they were decent but nothing special. We ordered a bunch of appetizer-type dishes to nibble on. The food was presented on standard institutional plates, not very appealing to the eye. The word "average" comes to mind again, as nothing was outstanding, but certainly edible. Fried items were a little too greasy and may have been previously frozen. My experience at the modern Waterfront Mary's was underwhelming but not bad. Go there knowing what to expect and you will not be disappointed-- and that is no more than a place to grab drinks that sits on the water. The discriminating palate will not want to eat much, and the connoisseur of fine libations will not want to stay for more than a drink or two. If I lived in the area, and the gimmick of the lake lured me in, this would be a decent place to stop if it was not too crowded. read more

We walked in and no one acknowledged us until we found someone who could seat us. Our waitress was NOT wearing a mask during this COVID pandemic. She also had her hair down getting her pen tangled in it while trying to take our order. She gave our table of 6, one menu, slamming it down without greeting us. I am surprised to see that this place has more than one star. Maybe there was a time in its long life that it was fairly decent. Maybe. But most definitely not anymore. The food was absolutely disgusting. I am no foodie but this was low grade, below grade. The service was horrible. Not outright rude but completely inept & she could not care less. And the place is dirty. I shudder to think what the kitchen looks like. On a positive note, the ride there on the bikes was beautiful and the view of lake was rather nice. We pushed our still-full plates away, paid the bill, and went down the street to The Lodge for steamers and bloody Mary's; excellent choice. read more

Fish Friday / Haddock or Clam Strip Dinner including Chowder, Fries and Cole Slaw. $8.95 Eat In Only" YUM! GOOD DEAL! So we went yesterday (Friday) at 12:30pm. The place was open but NO Employees behind the bar - in the kitchen - or in the dining room - we looked all over for about 10 minutes. (I'm talking about the height of Friday lunch hour here) There were 2 senior aged ladies in the dining room and we asked them "what's up?". One said ... "If you are here for the fish there isn't any" We thought it best to leave. read more

Came back last weekend. Looks like they renovated. Super cute inside now, and not as dirty outside. Service was worse than before...not only did we not get half the food we ordered, I got accosted basically every time I asked our waitress a question. After sitting for 20 + minutes without so much as a visit to our table, I went inside in search of some kind of menu. I managed to scrounge up some pieces of paper from random places. Our waitress finally did show up, a few minutes later, and her greeting was, "are you ready to order?". I asked if I even had the menu from what I was able to gather inside, she was short and just said "yeah, that's it". So I explained I wasn't even sure if that is the menu, trying to just ask for a minute to decide in fear she would disappear again for a half hour (which is close to what happened), and her response was to snap at me, and say something along the lines of "All I'm asking is if you're ready to order". Then she walked off annoyed. Drink orders basically went like this...not sure if we can do that, we don't have salt for your margarita, we aren't using a blender yet, so no pina colada, blah blah... she said she'd check, but I knew at this point, that wasn't even happening. Half of us ordered pizzas, bc they have a new brick oven, and it looked and smelled delicious. The other half got their crappy gross sandwiches and weird nachos, and another 30 minutes went by with no pizza. So I walked in to cancel them because we were done. I basically was done dealing with our rude/non-existent waitress. Turns out, she never even put the pizza order in (shocker). They made us a free pizza, and it wasn't bad, but seriously, nothing could really make up for how horrible the service was. Like, ligit the worst service I've ever had. I'll probably still go back if I'm on the lake again bc it's so convenient to pull your boat up, but they should either figure things out a bit, ot just consider marketing as a horrible service type restaurant, because it's BAD!!!! read more

Most horrible place I have ever been too I don't know how it's still around. It used to be a great place over the years I have seen it go down hill I just left there and I would rather get Aids than ever go back there! Seriously it is HORRIBLE the service was ok I have had the food a couple of times in the past couple of weeks and it tastes bland and heated up from a microwave the bar tender comes out and forces the nasty food on you or tells you that you need to go. Only had a couple of drinks and pretty much thrown out I will never go there again... EVER .... What a complete dive bar! This place has such potential but the overall experiences I have had here are extremely disappointing. Plates, cups, and silverware are all plastic. The food is frozen and microwaved, not fresh by any means, which in my book is inexcusable. They could certainly offer fewer items of higher quality and be so much better off, if they have someone in the kitchen who knew what they were doing. The "beach" and docks are dirty and not maintained at all, and the owner is very unprofessional. She had to have been the drunkest person at the bar the night we were there. The restaurant's Facebook page is full of inappropriate pictures of the owner and her personal life. The male bartender was miserable and blamed his ADD on not being able to remember a three drink order. The liquor they carry is of the cheapest quality too, so that maximum profit can be made. The bathrooms are painted a hideous red color. The whole place could use a serious facelift. It's a shame because this is such a prime spot on a beautiful lake. They could really be doing so much more with the place. read more

Dirty, horrible menu (and they were out of THREE of the items I chose to order!) They call themselves a seafood restaurant. The only seafood they had was fish and chips and stuffed clams. I ordered the stuffed clams because we went there because I wanted seafood and settled for that. Well the stuffed clams were GREASY! How is that even possible? There was a table there of people whom I believe were the management of the place. They kept dropping the F-bomb like it was the only adjective they knew. We were there with our six year old son. This is the worst dive bar I have had the displeasure of dining at. I knew walking in that it was going to suck, but I still tried to give it a shot. The food wasn't good and the drinks were terrible. If you need a place to drive your boat or jetski up to, get drunk on bottled beer and drive home, thats probably all this place is good for. This establishment has such potential - however cleanliness and overall ambiance are lacking - bathroom was awful - trash overflowing and stinky - had to ask waitress to clean our table and they were ill prepared for the onslaught of evening mosquitos. It's nice to be able to have a drink and a bite to eat on the water. We've been here a few times over the past few years for that reason alone. The service outside is slow at best if you get any. Our most recent visit, we were at a table for 20 minutes, server helping tables all around us. My husband got us a drink from the bar. Shortly after that a table opened up close to the waterfront, and was receiving service from a server. So we moved over there. We proceeded to stay there for another 20 minutes with a table full of 18 empty beer bottles and discarded food rom the the previous group. Again, the servers helped every table but ours, even asking the table we were previously sitting at, if one of their group with their drink on our new table was with us or with them. She served the new group at our old table, still not asking us, or clearing. We moved a third time to a high top along the deck rail. Another 30 minutes, one more trip to the bar for my husband for second drinks, and no inquiries and no service for us from the servers, but other tables around us were getting plenty. We didn't bother with food, we've eaten here before, not sure if it's supposed to be fresh or frozen, either way it's poor. Just before we left the owner came out, in men's boxer shorts, a dirty food wiped t-shirt and some work boots, and proceeded to dance all around the deck with some other over indulged older women, oblivious to anything else happening on the deck. I needed more 1 star reviews, thanks for the opportunity Waterfront Mary's! We had a group scooter ride to this place on Saturday and we're supposed to get there at 2pm. We got there early at like 1:20pm but luckily they were still able to seat us. The seating was a bit scattered but we all had seats in the end on the patio. The weather was great so we wanted to stay outside. We could order drinks from the bar or with the server. We ordered some fries since our lunch wasn't going to be ready till 2pm. The fries were the best part. The week before we had agreed on doing wraps (tuna, ham, turkey, and vegan) with chips and a cookie for the group at $10 a piece. I think that was pretty steep since it didn't include a drink but I'm not the one who organized it. That morning we collected money from folks and called in our final order. So at 2pm paper bags came out that included the sandwiches. They weren't too impressive for $10 each but at least people got fed fast. Granted we spent 40 mins waiting since we were early but they did come out when originally planned. However the vegan ones were a disaster. We decided to do vegan since a few of us are vegan and it would just be easier than doing vegetarian + 2-3 vegan meals. When the paper bags that came out that said vegan on them, they included a sandwich with MAYO. HELLO!!!! Dairy is not vegan. So we sent them back. Then 10 MINUTES LATER they came out again with CHEESE. HELLO!!!!!!!!!!!!! VEGAN MEANS NO DAIRY! So went sent them back. 10 MINUTES LATER they came back and were correct. But no dressing on them at all, so I had to go back to the kitchen to ask for some salad dressing to put on them. Why did it take 10 mins each time to fix a sandwich? If you are in food service you should know what vegan means. I know the cookie in the bag isn't vegan and that's typically but the sandwich should be correct. People have food allergies! By the time the sandwiches came out for a 3rd time I was the only one left who still wanted one. The other 2 people just stuffed their faces on chips and gave up. It was disappointing too that no one at the restaurant was that apologetic about it or offered to comp our meal. Especially to the people who no longer wanted it 30 minutes later.... But the time I could eat I had to eat really fast since the group was now leaving! This place is great for drinks near the bar but that's about it. The food is not impressive and you can barely see the lake when you are sitting at the tables. Also the clientele is sketchy as anything at the bar inside. I am a fan of the view of the water, but the service was not good when I went there a few weeks ago. I asked for nachos with cheese thats its and the guy (the waiter) who is dressed in a skull shirt tank top and cut off shorts may I add, says to me "Well I guess I can do that". Really? Because you ARE a restarant/lounge/bar the last time I checked. I dont drink so it seems kinda strange for me to be there surronded by everyone drinking. The customers are also allowed to smoke, and I am not a fan of that. I did enjoy feeding the ducks the rest of my soggy nachos. Beers were skunked. Food was poor and from the freezer. Vegan friend had a salad that tasted like the refrigerator. Service was terrible. Table was dirty. Outdoor deck was filthy. I've been going here for years now and it's a shame the reviews below dont do it justice. Yes, it is a bit run down. Seriously though, the place is in Webster... For anyone expecting the Ritz they are extremely delusional. The owner is a bit odd but if you ever went to Waterfronts when Mary and Magoo were the owners, you would know that this only adds to the appeal of the place. As far as service goes, do yourself a favor and stay away from the young waitress who is related to the owner. She'll spend more time playing with her hair and texting inside the restaurant then she will helping her customers. There are other waitresses there who can wait on 8 tables at a time and still never leave you wanting for anything. read more

The renovation looks good but the owner is still a drunk and makes a fool out of herself as a buissness owner you shouldnt be getting drunk at your own bar its unprofessional and annoying for customers to see the "boss" continuously drinking ,dont know how she is still in business. Relying on a newly renovated place to make you buisness will only go so far if nothing else changes. I go there once a year to see if anything has changed (never does) i would go more if the owner wasnt always drunk and rude. Sad excuse for a business owner. Our first time here was today, and we won't be back. We couldn't even figure out how to get inside since all the doors were locked. We ended up walking up the side ramp and a waitress shouted that we couldn't be up there. Gee, thanks, maybe unlock the front door so we can get in? There were a bunch of people outside trying to figure out how to get in! It was just weird that someone locked the door in the middle of the day with at least 20 customers on the patio alone. Once we sat down a waitress came out to us within 5 min. or so. She was not personable at all. The place has an oddly small menu consisting only of pizza and grinders, which is just weird. They don't even have drinks listed on their menu, and there's no menu on their website. If we had known the options were so limited we wouldn't have gone in the first place. We waited well over an hour for our pizzas. A little heads up that they were so behind would've been nice. We won't be back. read more
