Hosted a baby shower for my daughter and it was beyond amazing. They gave us time to decorate before guests arrived. The food was phenomenal. Large, comfortable place - a bit noisy as there is lots of big windows & the sound bounced around making it hard for me to hear my friend (though I was able to adjust my hearing aids so it may just be me). Something I loved here was this atmosphere reminded me of the old-school fish restaurants of my childhood back in Brooklyn, NY - the ones that we would go to celebrate special events - and in fact in the space next to our room (there are several rooms) a couple was celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary - the place felt warm & welcoming. The food was also old-school fish dishes (though the menu was big & contained non-fish as well) - You're not going to get the latest gourmet dishes here - nor will you pay gourmet prices - You will get the standards - clam fritters (yum), baked or grilled or fried haddock or some other mild fish, fish casseroles - all slightly fancy home cooked dinners. The side salad was basic with dressing on the side so not drowned. And the service was quick & efficient. Also - at 6:30 on a Saturday with no reservation - our wait to be seated was a few minutes. I had them make the soup to go. Otherwise I would not have been able to eat the main course. The downside was that they were out of lobster . It was a balmy evening, and our party of six was pleased to see some cloud cover as we dined on the Point Breeze deck. Point Breeze offers beautiful views of Webster Lake, and a large deck with spacious seating. The views have typically been better than the food or service, often much better. But on this evening, Point Breeze execute quite well, satisfying five out of the six diners, with good food and very good service. Point Breeze was able guarantee an outside table reservation, something other dining establishments in the area were unable to accommodate. We ordered: * Point Breeze Platter $26.95 Whole Belly Clams, Haddock, Shrimp, Scallops, FF & Cole Slaw * Grilled Apple Trout $17.95 * Bleu Cheese Wedge Salad: $11.95 * Fried Calamari $14.45 * Fra Diavlo $20.95 Roasted Peppers & Onions in a Spicy Tomato Sauce We thought the Point Breeze Platter was very good, as was the Fried Calamari and Fra Diavlo. The diner wasn't happy with the trout, as she didn't care for the sauce. The Bleu Cheese Wedge Salad was good, but heavy handed on the dressing. Overall, this was one of the better dinners we've had here, and the view was lovely. A four-star dining experience on this evening. We sat in a beautiful spot and were able to watch a gorgeous sunset. It ends there. We arrived at 6:50 PM and didn't eat until 8:10 PM! It still doesn't end--the communication between the chef and waitresses was terrible because the gluten free chicken parmesan had no bread crumbs, was rubbery and the pasta was overcooked. The "wrap" ordered at the table was a pita bread! The Marsala had huge pieces of overcooked chicken, not medallions. When I spoke to the woman in charge she looked me up and down in a judgmental manner and then said, "ok, I will take the charge for the meal off the bill," with no offer of apology or ownership of the quality of service. My son and his family had to rush off after waiting until 8:25 for someone to come with the bill, on my insistence. My husband and I waited until 8:35 for a second waitress to finally come over and give us the bill. Though she was nice enough and apologetic, the parmesan cheese we asked for when the meal arrived was never delivered by the young man who went to get it. We were lost in the shuffle of the evening! It didn't appear to be that busy, either. As they say, "you're only as good as your last meal," and that was our last time going after tonight. read more

Asked for a spot on the deck outside overlooking the lake and was added to waitlist. 15-20 minutes later we were seated on the deck which was worth the wait and is always the best part of eating at Point Breeze. I also counted five empty tables on the way out to ours. Giovanni provided great service. Very kind, considerate, and attentive. The food was mixed. I tried the New England clam chowder and three clam fritters which came with maple syrup. I thought the soup was thick and bland, the fritters lacked clams, and both were barely warm. I also tried the Maine steamers, maybe 2 dozen maybe a couple more, which was disappointing given the price which I think was 29.00. The clams came covered with tinfoil which I suspect was meant to keep them warm which unfortunately fell short. The clams had been sitting a while. The baked haddock and sweet potato fries were good but the fish seemed a bit under cooked to me. The view, and table service turned out to be the best part of lunch which I suspect continues to be the draw for so many customers. read more

We met a family member halfway between where we live and where she lives and it turned out to be Webster, Massachusetts and so we selected the Point Breeze restaurant for lunch on a lazy Sunday during a long Memorial Day weekend. Beautiful location for a restaurant on Webster Lake. The point breeze platter is a combination of fried scallops, fried shrimp, a piece of fried white fish, french fries and coleslaw. This is a fairly standard fisherman's platter for New England and at $26 it was pretty good but didn't have enough fish. The tuna melt came with french fries and was very good with fresh tuna and a pickle. The chicken Caesar wrap was good though unremarkable as Caesar wraps go. It was a beautiful day and this was a great location but the food was not necessarily something you would drive an hour and 30 minutes to have. read more

The first thing that I noticed when walking in was the smell. It smelled of a string chemical cleaner (possibly Fabuloso) and something rotten. I could smell the cleaner the whole time I was eating, making me sick. I definitely do not want to smell chemicals that give me headaches while eating. The place is a bit run down and was very chilly. It was pretty empty and they seated our party of 7 quickly. We went in a Sunday. The waiter was great, but the food was not. The only thing I liked was the calamari, except they had it covered in juicy jalapeños, so I could only eat the ones on the side not touching. The clam chowder was incredibly thick and didn't have much taste. My "Haddock Your Way" with lobster and cornbread stuffing was not good. The lobster chucks were completely hard and the stuffing was grainy, almost like corn meal was in it. My daughter got the chicken and broccoli Alfredo, and after one bite, said it was horrible, especially the chicken. She didn't eat any of it, so we ended up driving home and getting her something there after. It's very sad what became of this place. I'm surprised it's still open. I did notice it was mostly older people there that I'm guessing have been frequents for a long time and just used to the routine. Do better, Point Breeze. read more

My husband didn't send food back because he just didn't eat it. It was so bad. I took a bite too. It was so salty. It was really hard to eat. We've been coming to Point Breeze on and off for many years and we've always had phenomenal service./Food was fantastic. Had lunch at Point Breeze with my husband today. We sat at the bar because we didn't want to wait over a half hour to be seated elsewhere. The restaurant was busy but the bar had many openings which would hopefully mean the service would be good... but it just WASN'T. We waited well over 15 minutes to even receive a menu then longer to get a drink (there were 4 other couples seated and I counted 5 employees around the other end of the bar). Thy have a large menu with many different items. We ordered mussels for an appetizer and we split the Point Breeze Platter (clams, shrimp, scallops, fish and fries). We got a cup of chowder to split that came with the meal. The chowder came as 2 cups. It was delicious- thick like chowder should be. Next our meal came. No steamers. Disappointing but they took it off our bill. The seafood platter was really good. We were surprised that the clams were whole belly. The shrimp were jumbo, large scallops and the fish came nugget sized. The plate wasn't overpowered by too many fries (what we usually get). It was all delicious and the perfect size for the 2 of us. The downfall to this review is the service. Slow, lacking in care and all around disappointing. It is really why we won't be going back. Yes- the food was good but the service is what makes the experience worthwhile. I was being generous with 3 stars. My husband was very irked about the service. Yes, the person who took our orders fell all over herself apologizing, but she shouldn't have had to do that. Our 2nd round of drinks was handled by another person who was very helpful and he made us feel acknowledged (not like an afterthought). Bartender agreed that "yeah..it looked small"...she would "check and ask". She never left the bar for the kitchen. Then lied after we asked what she found out when she simply gave a crap line about standard weight of the serving. No checking on us at all during the meal. Ordered lunch to-go today. Prices were fairly average and portion sizes were decent. I was quoted 20 minutes but it took almost an hour and the hostess only said sorry they are serving a large party... Fish and chips were cooked perfectly and came with old school crinkle fries, kids baked fish was cooked well and a decent sized portion, salmon Americana was a large piece of salmon with two tiny pieces of lobster on top and newburg sauce that lacked any flavor. We ordered chocolate bread pudding and I was told when I got there that they were already sold out which was strange since they had just opened 20 minutes before. The grapenut pudding was really good and a huge portion. The views and the old school ambiance really make this place. They have huge event rooms and more than 1 bar area. Recently a friend wanted to meet up for lunch and this is the place she suggested. We chose to sit out on the patio because it overlooks the beautiful lake in our town. The view is probably the only thing Point Breeze has going for them. We both got salads and I chose the Caesar salad (my favorite thing!). I wanted bottled water, but they didn't have any (only crappy Webster water :/ ). Our salads came out and it looked ok to start, but lost points for not using shaved Parmesan AND they put black olives and pepperoncini (sp?). I've never heard of those additions in a Caesar salad. I frequent here at least once a week.. so yes I do love these guys. Went to lunch craving lobster rolls. Will never get the big one again.. super chewy and shouldn't be served on a pita-but to each their own. Waited almost 35 minutes for 2 rolls with fries at the bar. Insane amount of mayo and so salty. We had to take breaks and talk and drink water and our martinis between bites. Ordered wings to go along with a beef dish I asked to be cooked rare since I told her it was for my lunch for the next day. Got home and wings were so incredibly salty we couldn't even eat them. Tried to put blackened seasoning on them and air fry them and have celery since it didn't come with it and it didn't help. Waste of 20 bucks. An early dinner tonight. The hostess was very friendly as we entered. She gave us the option of the lounge or dining room. We went with the lounge. The bartender came over to our table after a few minutes, very friendly guy! We put in an appetizer of fried pickle spears and got an angry orchard. A few minutes later a woman approached asking for an app, we explained we already ordered and she said okay before walking away. The app arrived, they were definitely fried pickle spears but the breading was a dark red, I assumed they were buffalo but they were not. They were just red? It was served with a side of mayo in a cup. Later she took our order, recommending the Salmon to my friend. The food felt like it took forever to get back to us, when it arrived I was kind of underwhelmed. My side salad was pretty good! Loved the peppercini (?)My friends salmon was flavorful, tasted fresh, smelled delicious. My fish & chips came out odd. The haddock was in a perfect cube, it also has several layers inside that felt unnatural. The fries were cold and definitely needed salt. The tartar sauce was sweet. I could have used a little less mayo but that's just persona preference. We sat around for a bit before the bartender came back to help us with the check. We almost didn't come here upon seeing the 2 1/2 stars rating ... but the location was perfect and the menu looked promising. So we gave it a shot. SO glad we did. We arrived late afternoon, plenty of parking, and we were greeted with a kind welcome, humor and friendliness. We lucked out being seated in the corner window so were surrounded by the most lovely view of the lake and later the setting sun. The vibe was upbeat and also mello. Lots of Middle Aged couples and small groups. The carpeting felt a little dated - but it added to the unassuming nature of such a truly beautiful space. Our tuned in waiter was engaging and responsive and also unobtrusive - really excellent. My cranberry ginger ale was served with perfect 1/2 and 1/2 ratio! We had fried mushrooms, mozzarella sticks - very basic. And they were cooked just right and served hot. My fellow diners had chicken parm, and fish and chips with side salad. Not Michelin star unique - but very satisfying and Zero complaints. I had the Apple trout and butternut squash and I ate it all up with pleasure. We very much plan to return (it looked to be a local favorite) and will encourage our network of cyclists who visit the area to enjoy it as well after a long day of riding. read more

Mussels fra diavalo was good in that the mussels were good, but the sauce lacked any spice and there was no fresh bread for dipping. The fried calamari was poor, as if frozen food quality, so no go. They had live music and that adds to the whole experience. Number one and two on my list were the friendly waitstaff and clean environment. It's a busy place but well run. My parents were overcharged for the bar and they didn't stop at the limit and price that they were promised, they NEVER told my parents that they opened the bar early. They were rude because we wanted to get married outside while it was spitting rain since we paid extra and they wouldn't refund us for it... they didn't stick to the contract... at least they got a photo booth arch from us... you're welcome :-).
