The menu has been the exact same since they opened. I used to recommend this to anyone popping in from out of town as the menu had a lot to offer, service was excellent, as was the food. I can no longer in good conscience keep recommending the way I used to. I have been three times in the past year and have noticed significant shortcomings. First portion sizes have shrunk. Are used to always have the ravioli and now what is served as a main is the portion of a side. The service changed to the point where you do not feel relaxed while eating there. Servers are literally running. The music volume needs to be better controlled as my wife and I had to yell at each other to hear anything. So we didn't have time to make up our mind. I chose the Thai Coconut soup. Very bad choice ! Very watery, nothing to eat in it, except maybe 3 mushrooms sliced very thin. I added shrimps to it which costed me an extra $3 for maybe 6 or 8 tiny frozen shrimps. Rip off ! My husband had a burger; the fried chicken was dry. And they charge $4 for a tiny side Caesar salad. Expensive for what it is, and we left starving ! The waitress was nice but that was not enough. She should have told us right away that the kitchen was closing at 8:30. Creme Brulee was ecstatic. Big portion, easily shareable. Crust was perfectly engineered, not too thin not too thick, with a vibrant sugary point at the end. The description of the creme in the menu was precise. Light and silky creamy body that blends perfectly with the crust splinters at the palatal. We got a strawberry instead of the seasonal berries that the menu stated. Nevertheless, every person should stop in this town to try this piece or art. read more

After my last review the owner reached out to me and offered me the opportunity to come back and try the food again. My husband and I took her up on her offer and gave The Waterfront River Pub one last chance. We were greeted by a very nice young blonde waitress (don't know her name)... who promptly confirmed that our meal was complimentary and brought us beverages. My husband and I both ordered the Fish & Chips since the last 2 times I had it; it needed a bit of work. But this time, the fish was perfect, the fries were cooked perfectly and the coleslaw was cold this time! Overall I have to say they improved drastically. After reading so many wonderful, positive reviews on both Yelp and Google, my partner and I were really disappointed with our experience at the Waterfront River Pub and Terrace. First, some background. It's Thanksgiving weekend, and my parents and I decided rather than cooking, we'd all go out for a nice lunch. I looked for a nice restaurant somewhere in the middle of Kingston and Brighton, and Google led the way to the Waterfront. Not only were the reviews glowing, but the website was beautiful and had lots of different menu options. We couldn't wait. The positives: - the location is stunning. I would have loved to eat outside in their outdoor booths, but the inside was lovely too. - the staff were friendly. - the sweet potato fries were delicious. Otherwise, everything else was a bit of a miss for us. It took forever for me to get a glass of water, to the point were my partner had to go up to the bar and finally ask someone. When the table got a coffee refill, the milk was spoiled. My mom's portobello burger was really watery. My partner's steak sandwich was just okay. And finally: the Thai Bites. This is partially on me -- I should have read the description more carefully. But I love Thai Bites. In just about every other restaurant I've been to, they're usually crunchy, nom chicken with a sweet/spicy Thai sauce. When I see something called Thai Bites on a menu, that's what I expect. What I got instead was a handful of spinach, a Thai dressing, and a bunch of different garnishes to dress it with -- all for $12. I actually asked the waiter when he delivered it if the chicken was coming separately, only to learn this wasn't the Thai Bites almost every other restaurant serves. It was my mistake not to read, but who calls a deconstructed salad Thai Bites? I ordered some wings to go, which were a bit dry and under-sauced. So, I'm pretty disappointed our Thanksgiving outing ended up like that, especially since we all drove out of our way to go there. I don't think we'll be back. read more

I've been here many times in the winter and summer months. Location: great!, right beside the river, huge patio, plenty of parking. Not many "nice" places to go in Napanee. This place is decent. Food is mediocre to good, depending on the dish. Lasagna is not great, pulled pork is really good, for example. Service is decent for a small town, pricing is up there with pricey "nice" chain restaurants, so it isn't cheap. Beers are on the high price side. Sitting on the waterfront of Napanee, this is really nicely located. The live music when they have it, makes this place. We have noticed flies often inside when eating in the restaurant. Just fantastic. We showed up on a long weekend with a group of 11 people and two very young kids (we were having a classic car cruise), the service was quick, the food was fantastic (and original!) the selection of beers on tap was great, and it's just a really nice spot. A fantastic place on the Napanee river. Have eaten here in the winter and last night inside and a few times outside on the patio area outside. So far it is my favourite place in the Napanee area. Will definitely be going back this summer. The place is always busy, so best to phone ahead and book a time. Last night we started off with fries drenched in parmigiana and their Tai Bites. Both were really good finger food. The Tai Bites are whole spinach leaves to which you add a variety of toppings and Tai sauce. The maple salmon, and pork schnitzel were excellent. The only complaint I had was that the smashed potatoes came at room temperature and not hot. The chocolate peanut butter cup dessert was the perfect ending to a great meal. read more

We come here for happy hour when we visit family in the area. It is a neat little spot, that is right up close to the water and has a nice ambiance, kinda like being at the cottage. You sit under little gazebos, which is nice, so you dont have to be directly in the sun. Beautiful spot on the waterfront! Really pretty especially at night! Very scenic and nothing like it in the area! Great atmosphere as long as the live music isn't so loud. Food is really good and varied but a little inconsistently and over priced for what you get. For instance, the fish and chips serving is huge but then other meals like the smoked salmon appetizer is all cream cheese with very little salmon for $13. The ravioli is tasty as hell but really small portions. Great beer and drink selection supporting the local microbreweries and wineries. Service is mediocre. Pretty slow unfortunately. Like half an hour and another round til served kind of slow. It's frustrating because this place has incredible potential to be a hidden gem but it's the faith that management will address these issues is what keeps us coming back. read more

I have eaten here several times before everything hàs been phenomenal. This was by far the worse I've had dinner started with the perogies. Pretty good bacon was cold but overall I would say it was 6 out of 10. ( just my opinion ) I ordered the double stack burger. Wow what to say This was the driest and greasy burger... presentation bonus points. Where you lose points is the burger itself dry and it lacked seasoning. I had heard that the Waterfront Pub and Terrace was a nice place to experience so I tried to make a reservation but was informed that they do not accept reservations. I can't think of a reason why anyone from out of town would drive to a restaurant only to find that there were no tables available. Thought this place looked great from the outside. The restaurant is right on the water in a beautiful old building. However, we quickly learned that the service and staff are mediocre at best. The food is overpriced for the area and for what it is. Granted, the food is tasty but nothing special. In the winter we regularly avoided this restaurant due to a particular server. On our first visit she knowingly served us an improperly poured drink and then questioned why we wanted a new one when we asked. She then rolled her eyes and didn't get the drink removed from the bill (after waiting an excessive amount of time for the next drink). We had to go up to the bar to ask for ketchup. We had to go up to the bar to ask for cutlery. And finally had to go up to the bar and ask for the bill. We really wanted this place to be better so we kept trying. In the summer the patio is great but again, the service disappoints. On a quiet weekday evening we tried to go for dinner. Three servers working and approximately 6 tables. No one brings us a menu. One server asks if we have been served. But doesn't bother to ask if we want a drink. Still no menus. Meanwhile the servers are chatting at the cash and 10 minutes has gone by. We left to go get a pizza. Good service is not that hard to give but this place cannot seem to deliver. The management needs to properly train the staff and maybe we will come back. read more
