***UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT within the last week***…read more I read previous reviews and saw some negative ones. The new management seems to have stepped things up. I could not put into words how GREAT Wawaloam campground. Sometimes when you visit a campground it feels like you are staying in a parking lot. This is AMAZING. The sites are spacious and incredibly maintained. It is beautiful. Trees and grassy area everywhere. The staff is extremely nice and accommodating. There are things for the kids to do. There is a pool, water slide, splashpad, minigolf, big playground and plenty of room for the bike riding. The property is well layed out. For those not traveling with children there is an area that was by us that was 55 and older. The location is not that far from Newport (which is where we were visiting) and Providence. We were only there for 3 days would highly recommend this location. We will be back again and for a much longer time.

Not to mention the site that we were given for our 34' trailer was a back in & my husband was misdirected in doing so and ended up blowing out our rear view window of our truck which cost us an additional $600 to our already $900 bill for the site.

The grounds are beautiful, the people were friendly and accepting of a newcomer. It's a nice place to undress completely and just become one with nature while enjoying natural freedom. The sauna was fired up, which added greatly to the whole day. If you are a naturist, you should check it out. Get comfy and become part of a community that accepts the freedom of clothes-free living. I may even join next year so I can enjoy life in a natural and comfortable way, relaxing the way I prefer, without judgement. Highly recommend anyone interested in naturism to go to Dyer Woods, step out of your clothes and into a liberating day of relaxation.

All the people are great. The trails and scenery are beautiful and going nude just made it that much more special. I volunteered with the Fall clean up and met more wonderful people. Returned this year (2025) a couple times. Enjoy the Fall time during the week. On my 10/7/2025 visit, the nice woman that checked me in said the sauna was open. I hadn't visited that yet. Went hiking the trails, sat in a lounge chair by the pool pond and read a few chapters of a new book, then decided to try out the sauna. So glad I did. After that took one more hike. I really enjoy Dyer Woods and will be coming back again and again.

When we arrived, our campsite did not have a picnic table or fire ring as described when I reserved the site. I sent an immediate email to the address they provided in the check in material (around 8:30pm). I did get a reply the next morning saying I should have requested one. I did. But I never should have had to since it is in the reservation description AND, we didn't get one. Campground overall feels a bit rundown. Paper towel roll was set on the counter instead of in the holder. The shower wouldn't turn all the way off and was missing doors, but it did have a curtain. There is no bench in the shower area (campground not docked for this), but a bench is helpful if you have kids or are elderly. Don't stay in Campsite T21. it only has the gravel driveway and no great place to put a tent. We experienced heavy cigarette smoke, which wasn't great, but isn't the campgrounds fault.

I was so disappointed with this place. When you talk to the people on the phone they are so kind…read moreand so friendly and I was looking forward to the weekend. It was our first weekend of camping and we actually did stay an extra night. But we only stayed the extra night to see our friends who we haven't seen in a long time. Otherwise we have would've been out of there probably Saturday morning after arriving on Friday night. As we drove up to the campground I could see junk cars lining the street before the entrance. Then we pulled into the campground and were immediately accosted by the dumpster with piles of junk next to it and a house with a bunch of boats and farm equipment in the yard. Mike went up and registered which was simple and easy. Then we went through the gate and around to our campsite. As we drove to our campsite there was a tractor parked in the middle of the road and we had to drive around it on the grass to get to our campsite. That seemed odd. Then we drove to this field which had a nice green grass but no trees and this was where our campsite was located. Now we live in a city in Rhode Island and on a road that is fairly busy but not nearly as busy as the road that was about three campers length from our campsite. I was absolutely floored that we would be spending the weekend that close to a very busy road and listening to that traffic constantly. Then I looked around behind our campsite and there were piles and piles and huge piles of junk. Piles of wood , piles of equipment, piles of metal, piles of stone. It was just junk everywhere. Definitely a hoarder's farm. So on one side we had the main road with the traffic and behind us our view was of a bunch of junk. And it just didn't end there. Everywhere you looked was junk. It was like camping in a junkyard. We took a drive the next day because we had read that this was a popular campground with decent ratings. For the life of me, I cannot figure out why that is. We saw many sites which appeared to be seasonal sites. We saw several places where new construction was going on. None of the construction was completed and they actually had a functioning gravel bank right in the campground. There were campers parked next to it and across from it. The newer campsites had gravel instead of grass where you would park your camper. I could see that many people had been seasonal there for a long time because they had their own lawns and sheds and decorations that appear to have been there a long time. But when you got to the end of pretty much every road there was construction equipment working on the weekend, there was construction equipment lying on the side of the road, there was just more junk everywhere. As far as amenities, they have a man-made springfed pond. They do say that it is stocked but there is no swimming pool. They have a baseball field that needs reseeding because the grass is terrible. They do have a playground which looked pretty good. They had a couple of activities the weekend we arrived but we did not take part in them because we are still avoiding crowds. I wish I could say something good about them besides the fact that they are kind and friendly people but I can't. We will never go back again it was just not an experience that was relaxing and that rural atmosphere that you look for when you camp.
