Craft time

We really enjoyed our stay, this campground has it all!!! Great spacious sites Fishing pond Pool A toddler fenced in playground and a old children's playground with in eye sight Stone hand built fire pits Mini golf A mini store of items you may need Activities (crafts, Dj, magic shows) The weekend we stayed a ice cream truck drove campsite to campsite Also had an flavored ice guy the next day. Everyone was kind and respectful The only complaint I have would be the bathroom cleaning times, it was early in the morning 9a ish, which is usually when we finish up with breakfast and start showering and getting ready for the day, so this was inconvenient, also with little ones needing to use the bathroom, the other bathroom was much further way and we do not camp with a golf cart. But no complaints with cleanliness or use to restrooms other than the cleaning time. We truly enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning in the future, thank you for a wonderful weekend.

This was from the people that were here at our site m. They left it for us

What a TERRIBLE experience. We booked a site for a week MONTHS ago. When we arrived at our site there people literally living on it..tent site..We went back to complain the older lady with Grey hair was very rude to us and blamed it on the person who was on before her. We asked for another site and was denied. We asked for a refund to go somewhere else and again were denied. She told us to wait and get over it or leave and lose our money. She sent a gentleman to the site and came back with the resident. She SCREAMED at him in front of everyone and told him to pack it up. 2 hours later we were able to set up our stuff. No apologies, no discount, but she did give us 6 pieces of wood that didn't even burn‍‍ the place is set in cliques and if you are from out of town they make you feel uncomfortable. There were adults totally smashed ( super drunk) in the pool and drinking alcoholic beverages while in the pool. There were GROWN MEN having penis measuring contests with the pool noodles that our children play with...DISGUSTING and DISTURBING!!! The place is NOT family friendly. Bathrooms and showers were absolutely HORRENDOUS!!! I do not recommend it at all. We will not be returning either.

This campground is hands down the best in Rhode Island. We are seasonal campers here and look forward coming more and more each year. Here's why . . . The owners, Cameron and Justin, go out of their way to meet each and every person that steps on to their property. They become truly engaged with your needs and genuinely want to help make your stay endurable and memorable. It gets better . . . They have consistently made improvements on the property for the last two years and have even more plans in the works this very moment. They have a pool, miniature golf, soccer field, basketball court, horseshoe pits, arcade, snack shack, paddle boats, canoes and more! So, when looking for a campground, keep in mind this is a great place to bring your family and build memories.

Our morning fire and my foot because it was the perfect way to wake up!

ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS PLACE! Me and my guywill certainly come back! No complaints!! Great place for families AND a little intimate private getaway! Sad they are closed for the season! Hope to return next year!

4th of July band

I wrote about this campsite a couple months ago. Since then, they have made some MAJOR improvements that I felt a need to update my yelp review. We stayed the long July 4th weekend (during a huge rainstorm from hurricane Arthur). Even though the first night was miserable and wet from the rain-- Whispering Pines made up for it with all their fun-filled activities! It started off with a DJ'd dance party Friday night. Then the next day we attended crafts in the morning (my son made a beautiful sparkly fireworks banner for the parade later that night), sack races, horse races, egg races, duck racing(all proceeds going to Alzeimer's research), frog racing, tie dye shirt making, a parade around the campground, barrel rides, and then to end the night with a live band and a hula hoop, fire spitting act! This was the first night EVER that I let my 5-year-old son stay up til 9:30 to enjoy this amazing night. Now to address a con that I had during my stay in June. My major concern was the lack of internet use. As someone who is constantly needing to check into work-- I was bummed in June when I couldn't get on the internet. This time around, though, I had no problems what-so-ever with the internet. I was able to log on--check my email and check in with my programs at work. While signing up to the duck race, I bumped into one of the owners. He approached me and asked if my internet was working OK. I was so surprised and pleased by that! If that isn't great customer service, I don't know what is! As I listed before, these are the amazing attributes for coming to camp with Whispering Pines: 1.Great price 2. Friendly staff and campers 3. Cheap and/or free activities 4. Clean campground and bathrooms 5. Pool 6. Multiple playgrounds 7. Quiet 8. Close to highway access 9. Free coffee!! 10. Arcade, ping pong, and pool 11. Soccer and basketball We will be coming back in August for another great trip! I can't thank the staff enough for making this summer the most memorable of them all for us! Cameron and Justin go above and beyond to make all campers feel comfortable and happy during their stay! You guys really rock!

Best campground I have been to ever. People who work here are so nice, and so accomodating. We are a forty something and fifty something escaping for the weekend with our motorcycles and a small camper. We are so impressed with this place. Spacious campsite. Not loud but plenty of activities of that is your thing. Looks perfect for families. Great pub down the road, too, the Wood River Inn! Good food, music and craft beer.

***UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT within the last week***…read more I read previous reviews and saw some negative ones. The new management seems to have stepped things up. I could not put into words how GREAT Wawaloam campground. Sometimes when you visit a campground it feels like you are staying in a parking lot. This is AMAZING. The sites are spacious and incredibly maintained. It is beautiful. Trees and grassy area everywhere. The staff is extremely nice and accommodating. There are things for the kids to do. There is a pool, water slide, splashpad, minigolf, big playground and plenty of room for the bike riding. The property is well layed out. For those not traveling with children there is an area that was by us that was 55 and older. The location is not that far from Newport (which is where we were visiting) and Providence. We were only there for 3 days would highly recommend this location. We will be back again and for a much longer time.

When we arrived there was dog poop everywhere in the site my kids kept stepping in it as well as…read moresome paper trash, people were being loud all night, day 2 there was well/ water issues which caused bathrooms to be closed and no on site water for a day. The pool seemed to be leaking as it was only half full in the am my 3yo could stand and it wasn't even up to his chest, they had a hose in filling it all day to keep it from going empty I guess. Leaky shower flooded woman's room overall kind of a mess as far as maintenance but all of those things aren't anything I would normally complain about. Things happen the worlds an imperfect place no big deal. The one thing that really upset me and ruined our stay was the aggressive rude seasonal campers screaming at me and at my children multiple times through the week. The staff was very unhelpful and told me well they are seasonal and you are a visitor ‍ we were not visitors to a site we booked and paid for a site for our family for a week stay Sunday to Sunday. I don't think it's to anyone's benefit to allow seasonal campers to terrorize families just for using the amenities mid week. We arrived to swim at 10am and were berated by a man screaming that it wasn't 10am yet asking me if I knew how to read to go look at the sign etc I showed the time on my phone as did several other patrons including the man's own wife. Despite this he reported us to staff for arriving at 10 minutes to 10 I pushed back and ensured the staff that we did in fact arrive at ten and she became rude and hostile I looked right at the man and reminded him that it was 10am per everyone's clock including his wife's. The staff yelled at me for speaking to him. She ended up apologizing and saying that if she didn't reprimand me in front of him he would tell her boss and she would get in trouble like what? I don't think it's to anyone's benefit for management to encourage or support seasonal campers to harass shorter term campers. This only emboldens them to continue or escalate their behavior. One of them yelled at my autistic son on the playground making him extremely emotionally distressed my husband was there watching him and told the guy if he had a problem to let him know and he would address it with our son and not to speak to our son again especially being aggressive. Shortly after the playground incident a group of them got together and came and stood at the end of my site scowling at me and grumbling I ignored them but it was very strange and aggressive behavior. This campground is advertised as a family friendly place if the owners want it to be a seasonal only location they should run it as such and change their business model, they could also consider making it a 55+ retirement community. Worst camping experience of my life to date.

On the front porch of the office, there is junk and garbage all littered on the porch.... But the worst part of my visit was the bathrooms that are NEVER CLEANED BY ANYONE! Because there is no septic for the campers, using their bathroom was necessary.... One toilet was broken, two of the other toilets were loaded with feces. The shower stalls were loaded with bugs, as were the sinks. And then there was a sign on the garbage can in the bathroom stating "wipe down the showers after use "... like it's my job to clean their nasty bathroom. There was a bug in one of the sinks when I got there Friday, and it was still there when I left on Sunday afternoon. The grounds to this campground are not kept up at all, and they also had a bunch of dilapidated unoccupied campers on spots that looks like they've been deserted for years. Stay away clear of this disgusting hole... it is gross there... and if you do go... I suggest a tetanus shot first.... Gross...

So I actually didn't stay at the campground. But I did buy a piece trough off Facebook market…read moreplace. The owner Dorothy was very nice over the phone and unfortunately for me my gas gauge was broken and my car ran out of gas on site. She was so nice to send her nephew to the gas station to get me on my way. I couldn't appreciate the kindness more. People driving by even asked if I needed help and asked if I was staying and that it was a beautiful campground.
