I was in the Columbus area for work. I live in the Des Moines IA metro. And I realized that Watershed was just a few minutes away from our office. A quick scenic drive along the water and I found myself parked outside of the bottle shop and tasting room! I was on limited time and wasn't able to do the tour. Next time maybe?! The staff was great from the sous chef I flagged down to the gal serving up samples in the bottle shop and tasting room. After trying a few things I decided on bottle of maple finish and one of the uncut unfiltered. Pretty good stuff! Along witht the bottles I had to pick up a Watershed glencairn for $12 too... I wish I'd had more time to spend and could look around the facility a little more there at the distillery! Watershed was a lot better ambiance and company than Giant Eagle and Kroger where I was limited to in the rest of my OH bourbon hunting... Lol read more

Super cool craft distillery. It was sad to see the restaurant side close. Not sure what the cause was because, it wasn't the easiest to get a reservation. I really love what they're doing with the fall finishing series. I have been lucky enough to snag each one I've wanted. My last trip in I let the very nice lady at the register sell me on buying a bottle of the "Nocino" liqueur. After she gave me a sample I had to do it. 32 dollar price tag, but you can taste the quality. Plus, the back story behind it made the price tag worth it. They're worth the stop in. They're a hidden gem you need to know about. I've only experienced the bourbon. Even the standard bourbon offering is solid stuff. They also have Gin, vodka, and brandy that i hear are amazing! read more

The last time we toured the Distillery the restaurant didn't exist and they only had a small tasting room where the bottle shop now sits. Boy has a lot changed! The facility has grown so much and we loved seeing the barrell storage across the street. There is a wonderful place to sit, listen to the history and try a couple samples. We visit my husband's cousins in CBUS last weekend and were told by my SIL that Watershed was a must try. She made reservations for us at 9:15pm and 9:30pm for Saturday night (they couldn't seat our original party together due to COVID Restrictions). Due to us having too much fun earlier in the day, only 6 of us ended up making it to dinner. The hostess was extremely pleasant and accommodating, and modified our reservation for us right away. They asked us to wait and have a drink at the bar as they cleared our table, but they were ready to seat us before we even finished perusing the drink menu; wow! Since there were 6 of us, we decided to split into pairs and we each ordered two dishes off of the Chef's Tasting Menu so that we could try everything. Again, because we had too much fun earlier in the day, I completely forgot to note down what exactly we ordered (sorry). I hope the pictures do it enough justice. All I can say is, whatever the appetizer Foam thing is is delectable. Pork was tender. Drinks were awesome. Waiter was attentive. I enjoyed all of the dishes through and through. I look forward to coming back here again, and would like to take the tour the next time I am in town. read more

Everyone in Columbus has heard of Watershed Distillery, unless they've been living under a rock, they've likely tried it somewhere too. They have amazing spirits and before COVID they also had a hot, trendy restaurant attached that was always busy and being raved about. Since March of 2020, I can't even count how many times I've pulled into their curbside pickup, honked, and had a lovely employee bring me the booze I needed to survive the year. I'm a whiskey gal so that's generally what I stick with. However, I've picked up gin and cocktail kits here as well. Heck, they were even making hand sanitizer to help Columbus get by in the early months of the pandemic. I can't say enough good things about this business and I'm so glad they were able to pivot last year and are still standing strong and doing well today. While you can find their products all over the city in bars and restaurants and liquor stores, etc., I love coming here to pick it up and will continue to do so. Cheers! read more

I simply took the tour of the distillery (did not eat)- which is across the street from the restaurant. Tour lasted a couple hours, and shows you the process of how vodka, gin, and bourbon is made- all of which you will get to taste. I'm not a fan of gin, but did find one bourbon-infused gin that I liked. In addition to trying the spirits, you will get to sample some of their "old fashioned" mix they make at the facility (really good). Great tour, definitely something fun to do if you're in the area. Note- if you want to do the tour AND eat at the restaurant immediately after, book several days in advance (or weeks in advance if it's a weekend with a home football game). read more

$15 well spent! We came for a tour on 9/20/19. It was a little warm in the Rackhouse aka warehouse, but not uncomfortable. We started the tour off in the main entrance area that was air conditioned and learned the history of how the business was started. We learned and sampled 3 Gin's, the Vodka was only talked about. Next we moved into the Rackhouse for the next round of samples and to learn about the aging process. Next we sampled an apple Brandy, Bourbon and learned about the barrels, aging process and the distillery cats. The cats nostalgia only, but back in the day they were used to keep mice, rats and birds away from the distillery. We also learned about the charring process and the corn used to make Bourbon. A fascinating fact learned during the tour was the Bourbon was recognized in 1964 by the United States Congress as a "distinctive product of the United States". Bourbon sold in the United States must be produced in America from at least 51% corn and stored in a new container of charred oak. Next we walked across the street and entered an additional area of the distillery that is located behind the restaurant. Here we learned about the final stages of the process and then we learned about Nocino and sampled this delicious green walnut drink. When the tour was over we were offered 1 final sample of the Old Fashioned. Over all this was a fun and informative tour. The price is $15 but it's totally worth it for the samples that you get. Have not been here for 6-7 years, but they have expanded with a full restaurant! We want to come back and take the tour since it's been a long time since we did it. Love the nocino, ask them how they got the recipe, it's a neat story. We like the bottled old fashioned, and four peel gin. This tour is worth every penny and more! I've been on my fair share of distillery tours and this is hands down one of the best. We had a tour on a Tuesday night back in February, and there were 3 people in our group and 2 people in another, and I liked the small tour size. It's easier to hear everything and get around. Our tour guide, who's name I cannot remember unfortunately, was absolutely wonderful. She told us all about how the company got started to where they are now, and also could really describe the different products to us that Watershed offers. We were able to taste some "bucket gin" that was hot off the press, and it was very tasty. Inside the rickhouse we had the opportunity to meet the two distillery cats who were very friendly! After the tour ended, we were allowed to have a couple extra tastes in the tasting room, and the other guests in our tour had left, so our little group had a cool opportunity to pick our tour guide's brain with the little time we had left. She held us with the various tasting notes and gave us great ideas for different cocktails to try in the restaurant as well as what we could make at home. My husband claims that Watershed's vodka is * THE BEST * he's ever had, and I am now a huge fan of their Four Peel Gin (let's just say during this quarantine time I've easily bought more than 1 bottle for my at-home bar...) I also really enjoyed the bourbon barrel gin, old fashioned bourbon and the nocino! But there really wasn't anything that I didn't like, either, so great job Watershed! It is my first ever distillery tour, and I enjoyed it a lot. I am not a big fan of liquors, but it was still very fun for me to learn about each type and how do they make. We got to try three different types of Gin (four peel gin, bourbon barrel gin, and guild gin). Then we visited the warehouse that stored all the spirits. We learned about the bourbon and barrels. We tried bourbon and apple brandy. Next, we moved on to the processing room and tasted the last sample barrel aged nocino. It is a dessert drink, and you will like it if you are a coffee drinker. My first distillery tour and it did not disappoint! I am not a huge bourbon fan, but my dad definitely enjoys, so we visited while he was in town. I had two free tour coupons from a Yelp event a little bit back - when scheduling a tour for the weekend my dad was in town, there was only 1 spot left, but the kind people at Watershed said it was no big to have an extra person on the tour. So already impressed with the group! The exterior of Watershed is very unassuming, but the interior is very welcoming, with a nice bar and plenty of seating. We learned a lot about the history of vodka, gin, and bourbon (did not know the difference between vodka and gin), and paired this learning with a taster. The spirits were a little strong for me, but I definitely appreciated them. We meandered into the barrel room which was super legit - so many barrels surrounding us, I think my dad was in heaven! Our tour guide did a great job of walking us through the various bourbons, as well as some of their "cocktail in a bottle" products. He was super knowledgeable about Watershed's products, their history, and the distilling process; he was also super willing to take nice pics of us, which was a bonus! I could tell he loved what he did. After the barrel room, we moved over to the restaurant and the area of the distilling process, where he walked us through the daily happenings. We tried my hands down favorite spirit of the day here - the nocciolo. A family friend had made this last year, and after my first sip I fell in love, but hadn't had since then. This liquor is made with English walnuts and literally tastes like Christmas in a bottle. Watershed's take was so smooth and decadent, I could slowly sip it all day. A great way to end the tour! Overall, despite not being a bourbon lover, I really enjoyed this tour, especially experiencing it with my dad. Watershed Distillery has been making good spirits in Columbus for a few years. It has now opened a bar and restaurant at its facilities. The gin and whiskey is some of the best you can get. It must be tried by any fan in Columbus. The distillery also offers tours. I like gin and whiskey, so it was natural for me to give this local brand some tries. It's some of the best bang for your buck. Tours of the facilities are about $10. It includes some taste tests. While there you should check out the bar and restaurant. If you're not around you can still get their products in many bars and stores in Columbus. The whiskey is about $20 to $30 a bottle, so not that bad for the quality. If you're in Columbus you have to try Watershed. It's one of the best things made in the city. This is one of the best spirits anyone close to me has tried. read more

Recently took the distillery tour with some friends. Though I really enjoyed the whole tour, some in my party thought it was a bit dull. I personally loved hearing about all the hoops you have to jump through before you can distill and sell booze in Ohio. The owner was young and personable, and I found myself rooting for his business' success by the end of the tour. The tour WAS packed, but so what? Crowds are a great way to detect quality, IMO. Loved the samples of their gin, bourbon barrel gin, vodka and bourbon. I purchased a bottle of bourbon to bring back to Indianapolis -- damn good bourbon! We stocked up on toilet paper and tuna fish but forgot about our liquor cabinet. Too late, I saw my bottle of Tanqueray 10 was scary low and we'd already sworn off shopping in stores. After a few desperate prayers to Dionysus, Watershed Distillery came to my rescue! I called Melissa at Watershed in Grandview, and she took my order. Drove to their parking lot, honked my horn, and Melissa put my rescue package in the trunk. With all of the bars and restaurants closed, I felt good about supporting this great local business. This tour was so much fun! I have been on lots of distillery tours and this was one of the most interesting. I had a positive experience with Watershed before we even arrived in Columbus. You reserve your spot for the tour online, which is an easy process. My husband and I were driving through Columbus and thought this would be a fun stop. When I looked online though there was only 1 spot left on the tour. I emailed them on the slim chance they would allow us both to attend. They emailed me back promptly saying that it was fine and were very friendly. I was psyched! Our tour guide's name was Evelyn and she was awesome. Enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and friendly. We arrived a little early and she recommended a local bar for us to check out while we waited, which was a great suggestion. The tour began with the history of the company, which was pretty interesting. Evelyn then passed around ingredients for their spirits and everyone guessed what they were based on smell. It was really fun! The tour then proceeded as she reviewed the distillation process for their vodka, gin, bourbon barrel gin, and bourbon. Of course the tasting at the end was the best part! Being a bourbon drinker myself, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked their gin. We made sure to buy a bottle of their Four Peel Gin before we left! I paid Watershed a visit about a week or so ago to take the tour with a group of my friends. It was an excellent experience as one of the founding partners took us around and gave us a class on the distillation process. It was very interesting to get to see the equipment and hear about the technique and skill required to make a great spirit. At the end there was of course the tasting (which is admittedly the reason we were there mostly). We were given an excellent explanation of the flavorings of each spirit before trying them, as well as a bit on the vision of each of the products. I found that the current batch (#7 I think) of the Bourbon is significantly better than the earlier batch I had originally tried on my own. Their ratio of rye and wheat use puts it's flavor profile in an interesting place on the sweet v spicy scale. I must say that their product is certainly making it's way upward and I cannot wait to try it again as their aging moves from 2 1/2 years toward 4. read more

Watershed makes some of the best gin that I have ever had. Punctuated! I was at the distillery last night for the release of their Bourbon Barrel Gin---which is exactly what it sounds like. You might be thinking, "Bourbon gin? That just sounds...wrong." I thought the same too, until I sampled it. To be honest, I still haven't really figured it out yet, but I know its good. Well played Watershed, well played. They knew how to host an event too. Everyone working for them was super nice and helpful to the mob of people that showed up to clog up their parking lot. Do I love Watershed? Oh man, I adore them! So we went to a tour of the distillery quite a few years ago ( back when the gin was not four peel ) and have been fans ever since. This place produces the best product around. I do not like vodka, but I drink theirs. The gin is the best tasting gin out there today. I don't care about whatever other "top shelf" gin you might name, this one is better. To top that off the have the bourbon barrel gin which throws a whole other flavor component in. It's delicious! I also love their bourbon, it's so smooth. And yes, you can make bourbon in Ohio!! Watershed does not disappoint, ever. The service at the distillery is wonderful too. Such a fun tour! We bought tickets for the 3pm tour on a Saturday and there was a great turnout of 23 people in our group. We were able to see the distilling process and then were given samples of all the spirits. Make sure to stick around after the tour to grab a drink at the bar. Stopped by Watershed for the release of their new bourbon barrel gin and, though it was raging hot, had a good time. This little distillery does a great job grassrooting their product: local restaurants of repute stock their product mainly through the hard work of the owners. On the tour I was informed that they often race around town between distilling stops to peddle the bottles, hurrying from place to place before the tank overflows or whatever.... You can tell they care. The tour is great - it's cheap, you learn a lot, you get to play Swedish drinking games, and you feel better about yourself for supporting what I think is one of the best gins in the land. read more

Just did a tour of this local micro-distillery.They are making vodka, gin, and bourbon. The tours are very reasonably price and it is neat to go behind the scenes and see how they produce these spirits. After the tour they offer tastings which is a great way to see what the product is like and to learn more of it. Greg also talked about drink recipes and local businesses that are selling their vodka and gin (bourbon is in the barrel still being made for a couple more years). The tour was a gift, the tickets were mailed and hand written. It was a very nice touch of personalization and I was immediately excited. The tour was about 2 hours long, and they started with how the distillery came to be in Columbus as well as who the owners are. You then go the back of the building to see the process start to finish on how to produce the spirits. When that portion was done there was Q&A as well as a free roam around the place. It was very neat! Due to Ohio Laws (boo) you can only try 4 one ounce samples warm with no ice, but the Gin was heavenly!! It had a great citrus flavor that made it very drinkable. Not a huge fan of bourbon in general so I didn't really like theirs but my husband thought it was great. The Nochino was amazing and I ended up buying a bottle of it. If you don't know what that is, go do the tour and find out/taste it. You wont regret it. 10/10, 5 stars, thumb up, whatever you wanna use this place was A+. If you live in Columbus or just visiting I highly recommended this little gem hidden away here. read more
