We've eaten here a few times and I felt it was time I write a review since we keep coming back for more. First off, thank you for being a year-round restaurant! We've enjoyed eating in your restaurant (pre-covid), on the patio (mid-pandemic), and most recently as take-out since it's winter - and we're working remotely from home. For this visit, we ordered take-out lunch which included Billy's Chili, a CAB sandwich, and the Waterside Cobb salad. I called in my order as I understand some restaurants get charged per order (depending on their contract) for 3rd party ordering systems. The person who answered the phone gladly took my order. When I asked for the chili, it seems there were two options. I recalled seeing Billy's Chili on the menu so I went with that one. It came with cheese on the chili and a nice-sized piece of cornbread. The chili had an interesting texture - almost like it had a lot of breadcrumbs. I wouldn't say it was bad but just different. Despite that, it tasted great. The cornbread was crumbly and sweet and complimented the chili well. My dining companion had the CAB sandwich and was quite pleased with it. The bread was fresh and there was a nice amount of chicken. I had the Cobb salad and was amazed at how much mixed greens there were! The container was filled to the brim with all the right fixings - chicken, bacon, egg, tomato, blue cheese, and avocado with ranch dressing on the side. I poured it all in a big bowl and that's when I realized how much greens were hidden below. It made enough for two servings and, surprisingly, there was enough dressing to dress the entire salad. The market also has a wide selection of cold and hot drinks as well as prepacked food items such as sauces and seasonings. If you find yourself in Vineyard Haven craving a quick and tasty breakfast or lunch, give Waterside Market a try. You won't be sorry! read more

Is it weird that Waterside will be the place responsible for the best iced tea I've ever had? Legit, the iced black tea, on its own, is remarkably tea-ish. Tastes fantastic. John Alden is a $12 sandwich they serve which I ate. Thanksgiving on ciabatta, it's house roasted turkey, sliced thick with canned (aka best) cranberry sauce, a smear of stuffing and mayo to lube your soul. Total winner, although I was a bit take aback when nobody seemed to know where the hell the bread came from. (Good bread, so if you find out, let me know.) Lunch was such a delightful experience, we came back a week later for breakfast and Tex Mex ($14) pairs a pair of sweet corn cakes with two eggs, black bean spread and pico. The cakes ruled the plate, with everything else being dry and/or overcooked. Good flavors, rushed to serve. Lots of patio seating, a panel of cookie filled baskets, and again, legendary iced tea. This is an OK place to grab breakfast or lunch. My "fish taco" lunch was pretty average: nothing more, nothing less. I noticed a lot people just grabbing a simple coffee or light snack. But they do offer full breakfasts and full lunch sandwiches. On the plus side, it's clean, airy, and they have very nice outdoor porch seating. Called to place a take out order - not because I wanted to call, but because I was using a gift card and for some reason, despite having room to add a GC to pay, it doesn't work. Girl who answered just kept yelling - over the music and noise on their end - "I can't hear you". Obvi. So I shouted that I'd come in to order. Again - 3rd choice, behind online or call ordering, and not really convenient? But, gift card. So I come in to order and the cashier seems annoyed and snippy. I get it - it's busy! They make great food - so yes - busy. If online or calling worked, I wouldn't be standing here. So yeah - food is great. Sitting outside on the deck - great. Noise level inside - loud. When on the Vineyard I always try new places for lunch and this spot did not disappoint! It was the perfect spot for a casual bite, and I will definitely be back. I'm not sure how they make a BLT review worthy-but it was! The bacon was perfect, not too heavy on the mayo, and every bite was better than the last. I loved the interior French bistro vibe, the people were lovely, and they had a very inviting atmosphere. Located right on main st in Vineyard Haven, you couldn't ask for more! Saturday, late lunch. 3 kids- 2 ordered Mickey pancakes and one ordered the grilled cheese. The pancakes presented adorably and the rubber duck toys were at hit! The pancakes themselves were a bit tough on the outside and the kids only ate 1/4 of the pancake before becoming lost in duck play. The grilled cheese child enjoyed her sandwich but claimed it would have been much better if it hadn't been burnt. She also enjoyed the duck. I ordered the skinny wrap. It presented well, but the eggs were lacking in flavor and I found avocado peel still on a slice of avocado. My husband ordered the Italian sandwich. Which was forgotten. It arrived 15 minutes after everyone else was served. Personally- I think the restaurant has some potential... but it needs finishing touches. Especially at the ridiculous price point. read more

Do yourself a favor and eat here. I don't consider myself a foodie, but only two restaurants (if that's what you'd call this place, though it's more of a high end deli) have truly excited me over the last few years. One is Mama's Fish House in Hawaii (10/10 recommend) and the other is Waterside Market. The tomato caper salsa on the salmon avocado toast is next level. Truly one of the most delicious things I've ever tasted. The cold brew coffee has inspired me to try the cold brew method at home, though I know it just simply won't be as good as the cold brew here. The sandwiches are delicious. The cookies are superb. Seriously, why are you still reading this review and not ordering from there right now? read more

Stopped by here as we were waiting for the ferry. Wow the Tax Mex was absolutely horrid. The base of the dish is suppose to be a salsa, but it tasted like canned tomatoes with sugar and one hot pepper added to a gallon can of tomatoes. The next layer was a few pieces of soggy cornbread, then sum purple bean or hummus paste that was pretty bland. Topped by eggs and slice of Avacado. Really poorly done. What a bad take on huevos rancheros. We also had the French toast which was pretty ordinary and what you would make if you threw this dish together at home for your kids. Next the service was incredibly stagnant. Breakfast choices are limited in vineyard haven, but do yourself a favor and look else where. read more

Waterside Market is a nice breakfast and lunch sandwich shoppe in Vineyard Haven that is A-OK with nice (but limited) porch seating. Context: Midday Saturday lunch. Ambiance: 3/5 - There are two sections to the restaurant - the porch and indoors. The indoor section was particularly noisy, even for the few amount of people there, so I don't know if it was the acoustics that day. It was difficult for me to handle the noise, so we were left with the option of sitting outside. It was a nice day, but we could only find a table for 2 when we really needed a few more chairs. (Oh well, not the end of the world, but it is a little frustrating when you patron a restaurant and can't find seating.) A nice place, but the seating inside was crowded and noisy while there was limited seating outside. Service: 4/5 - Not much service to be noted other than when you place your order. It went well, and our food came out within a good timeframe. No issues here. Food: 3/5 - We got the Farmhouse, which was a good sandwich, but it is quite pricey (although I realize that it is Vineyard Haven). Pretty large portion at least. In short, if it weren't for the difficulty finding seating and if the sandwich were slightly better (or less expensive), I think this would be a 4 star review. It is certainly "A-OK," but I'm not sure that I would say that I"m fan of the stop! read more

I was working in Vineyard Haven for 3 weeks - and this place was one of my favorite spots to go for breakfast, coffee and lunch. The coffee here is excellent. I particularly like their cold brew. For breakfast, the blueberry pancakes are to die for! Soooo good. For lunch, their BLT (with avocado) was my favorite thing on the menu. It's a huge sandwich - and I'm a big guy with a big appetite and it filled me up! If you're in a rush, they have pre-made sandwiches & salads as you walk in... or, if you're wanting to sit down and relax, they've got a nice porch area with plenty of tables & chairs. Staff there are on top of it and run a good business! They are just a tad pricey... but, then again, almost everyplace on Martha's Vineyard is. Coffee, sandwich & tip will run you about $20-$25. read more

We came in fresh from the ferry on the first truly cold night of the off season and happened upon the cozy cafe market. The menu was limited. It turned out to be buy one get on free burger night. My daughter get the jalapeño infused burger and the surf and turf. We both ordered medium. The flavors were good but the meat was not medium but rate-rare. The service was not attentive though the occupancy was close to capacity and you would think they would need a quicker pace. The hot chocolate we ordered to go was good and kept the hands warm. Food very good to excellent and snack selection is small, there's a well-curated cold case selection of drinks -- everything from high end hard seltzer to wine, cocktails, craft beers. We always order the turkey-stuffing, roast beef sandwiches and it's always reliably great. French fries, other side dishes generously portioned, fresh, tasty. Great community destination and go-to place for breakfast and lunch fare in downtown VH. One of the few places on Main Street in this day and age that offers a comprehensive food menu! Extremely fresh breads for their sandwiches, and good attention to detail on other items such as pancakes and eggs. Breakfast being served all day is also a plus. They are settling in to their new location in the former home of Le Grenier, and the outdoor seating is clearly a plus and a magnet in the warmer months. However, the crowd control in the interior (especially at peak hours) could use some further thought, as it lacks the clear definitions of ordering and seating that one could enjoy in their former location. I visited Martha's vineyard on memorial day for the 1st time. We brought along our scooter and drove around town looking for a place for breakfast.Most of the places open for breakfast had a really long wait or were no longer taking reservations for breakfast so we ended up here just before it got busy. We were served right away and loved all of the options. This place has a lot of seating. you order and pay at the counter then go find a table so there are no waitresses. my boyfriend got the John Aldon which had stuffing in it. Found this gem of a sandwich + smoothie + coffee place at the end of a 26 mile bike ride... Needless to say, if the food sucked I would've been pretty bitter.... Because after such a long bike ride, I felt as though I earned the right to enjoy a good sandwich. I'm happy to report that I did in fact enjoy their food + smoothie, here's the scoop: - The inside looks and feels like a coffee shop.. The place is good for a quick lunch and has plenty of space (I'd guess 10-15 tables?). If you're on the island on vacation with young kids, this is a great/affordable place to grab a simple lunch. - The lobster roll was good, but was more of a lobster toast/appetizer than a true sandwich or roll. The lobster tasted fresh, but had a tad too much mayonnaise which affected the taste of freshness. Also, while it's called a "roll" it's really a generous lump/portion of lobster on top of thinly sliced/toasted French bread. I'm not complaining because the quality of the lobster is great, but don't have your heart set out on hearty bread. - They also had a great selection of fruit smoothies that oddly enough is not mentioned on their website... I tried the blueberry smoothie and it was excellent (on par with big chains like Jamba Juice). read more
