I visited Martha's vineyard on memorial day for the 1st time. We brought along our scooter and drove around town looking for a place for breakfast.Most of the places open for breakfast had a really long wait or were no longer taking reservations for breakfast so we ended up here just before it got busy. We were served right away and loved all of the options. This place has a lot of seating. you order and pay at the counter then go find a table so there are no waitresses. my boyfriend got the John Aldon which had stuffing in it. Found this gem of a sandwich + smoothie + coffee place at the end of a 26 mile bike ride... Needless to say, if the food sucked I would've been pretty bitter.... Because after such a long bike ride, I felt as though I earned the right to enjoy a good sandwich. I'm happy to report that I did in fact enjoy their food + smoothie, here's the scoop: - The inside looks and feels like a coffee shop.. The place is good for a quick lunch and has plenty of space (I'd guess 10-15 tables?). If you're on the island on vacation with young kids, this is a great/affordable place to grab a simple lunch. - The lobster roll was good, but was more of a lobster toast/appetizer than a true sandwich or roll. The lobster tasted fresh, but had a tad too much mayonnaise which affected the taste of freshness. Also, while it's called a "roll" it's really a generous lump/portion of lobster on top of thinly sliced/toasted French bread. I'm not complaining because the quality of the lobster is great, but don't have your heart set out on hearty bread. - They also had a great selection of fruit smoothies that oddly enough is not mentioned on their website... I tried the blueberry smoothie and it was excellent (on par with big chains like Jamba Juice). read more

This place is awesome!! It moved up two buildings into the old Le grenier building. It is open with cute places to sit and eat your delicious sandwiches or breakfasts. They have great food ranging from typical eggs and super good bacon eta to soups salads and sandwiches that will make you drool!! There's also a wrap around porch with tables and seating that is such a cozy outdoor seating situation. Absolutely love this place. read more

Food at this place is great and priced in reasonable fashion relative to others on the Vineyard. However, the sit down service leaves much to be desired. I ate here today with my wife and 18 month old son. It took ~25 minutes to get our breakfast order and the kitchen staff botched my request for adding sausage to my burrito two times. I ended up returning the burrito after 40 minutes of trying to get the order right. The staff was kind enough to issue me a gift card and make me a burrito to go, but the order was still not correct as I asked for no beans and of course they added beans. Bottom line: the food here is great and good value -- just get your food to go if possible. read more

Ordered our lunch just before noon. At 12:35 went to ask on the status. We were told they would bring it out when it is ready. They would not check the order. We patiently waited another 25 minutes and went in again. Only to find out they could not find our order. We were told they were having issues with their system. After another 15 minutes, they were unable to locate the order with my name or the amount. We paid cash. Next she said, I can either refund your money or re-fire your order but as you can see we are quite backed up right now and it will take an hour. We got our money back because no food is worth a two hour wait. Honest to God the worst service I have experienced in years. Very disappointed because I love their sandwiches. I had a dream about the BLT last December and it was all I could think about all year.

They do have good food for reasonable prices and I often go there. However, I keep finding bacon in my avocado only breakfast burritos! It happened once and I thought it was not a big deal because everyone can make a mistake once in a while, but today it happened again. For a vegetarian who strictly avoids pork like me, taking a bite out of a burrito and finding out there are bacon pieces in it (that I couldnt have seen because it is a closed burrito obviously) only after I started chewing is a total deal breaker for me. It was a take out order, so I couldnt go back and ask them for a new one and had to compromise with the bacon taste. But I can only imagine the drama that would happen if you do that to alanyone who avoids pork for religious reasons. I think it is unacceptable to not pay close attention to what goes into the food you serve customers who order no meat food, especially considering that you offer so many vegetarian options. read more

Tried to get lunch today, withiut much luck. They had no diet soda, and only offered bottied water. I got the French onion soup, whichvwas amazingly inept. Came in a covered paper container. Half was bread, a small piece of swiss cheese, not melted at all, the other half was onions, with about three sooonfuls of broth. Completely tasteless. It was not canned, which might have resulted in a better tasting soup, but whoever made it shouldn't give up whatever day job they must (their main job can't possibly be as a chef). I used to be pretty pleased with Waterside the first year or two they were in business. This year, however, I've found that you don't really get value for your dollar anymore. The greatest example I can think of is the Raspberry Creek salad. Used to be chock full of fruit, cheese, nuts, etc. 13 bucks. You could make 2 meals out of it. Now it's just... sparse, but same price. I would order that salad 2x a week if it were the way it was. Others I know have complained about the service - specifically, whining audibly when a customer comes in 10 minutes before closing. SUCK IT UP. All the bosses I've ever had would've decapitated me if I'd ever pulled that BS with a customer. The real nail in the coffin for me, here, is that I went to their website and used the email link provided to let them know some of the issues I and my friends/family have had their lately. Not an epic rant, mind you, but things they really, as a business, should be glad to know customers are finding less than satisfactory. They never got back to me. I find this inexcusable. On an island where EVERYTHING is expensive, at least wow me with service, please. It goes a long way. Oh and that lobster roll pic/review - wtf? Wow. Let me start off by saying, I do not have high hopes for Martha's Vineyard, and after living in NYC and L.A, I have always held this tiny cultureless void to the lowest possible standard. I mean it's in the middle of the ocean, no one has to exactly compete for business amiright? I went back today to get a coffee and I can honestly say I haven't ever had a worse experience even at the lowliest gas station Starbucks stand. I walked in and the area behind the counter was Disgusting. Food on the floor like it hadn't been swept up all day. Old food sitting at most likely the wrong temperatures up the wazoo (I'm serve safe certified, thank you.) so I stand at the counter, grossed out, but it's the only place I could find parking. 3 out of four of the teeny bopper tatted up pierced pony tailed staff are EATING. AT THE COUNTERS WHERE FOOD IS BEING PREPARED AND AT THE REGISTER. WITH THEIR HANDS. And after five minutes of my standing their watching this horrifying scene, one of them finally begrudgingly looks up, wipes the food grease on her pants, sighs at the fact that I have interrupted her fine dining experience, and agrees to take my order. I order a soy iced mocha. She repeats my order back incorrectly twice. I lose all faith in not only my impending coffee drink but in humanity. But wait. This is where I lost it. I walk over and watch her go to make my drink. The espresso machine is dirty and there is an old shot of espresso sitting on it. I have a vision. A terrible prophetic vision. And then my vision comes true. She pours the old shot into my drink. I call out to her, with all the mercy I can muster, holy shit, please, pull a fresh shot for the $5 coffee I just ordered. This is when all the teeny boppers and most likely completely down and out shift leader stop and look at me like I'm crazy. I mumble something about espresso being exposed to air and metallic flavors, you know, things ANYONE WHO HAS EVER CONSUMED LET ALONE MADE ESPRESSO DRINKS KNOWS. THIS IS NOT ROCKET SCIENCE. she angrily agrees, makes the drink, and more or less throws it over the counter at me and storms off. I have no idea who is running this operation now, but it was truly insane. None of this would fly anywhere else in the country. That being said, if you are on Martha's Vineyard, Literally anywhere else on the island is better. Mocha motts. little house. Behind the bookstore, new in Edgartown, is actually legitimately good. The food is all fresh and organic. Not a huge selection to choose from in my opinion. I got a blt with avocado for 2 dollars extra. The blt comes on a cibatta roll, which had I known I never would've gotten.
