We needed an escape from the house after months of quarantining but didn't want to go somewhere jam packed with people, you know, doing that whole social distancing thing. I'm glad I found this place online. We got a nice spot that backed right up to the boat marina, though we didn't catch many fish in that spot it did make for a nice view. I liked how quiet the entire area was and how well kept the grounds were. Plenty of grassy areas for the dogs to walk and there were a couple poop stations that were conveniently located too. All in all, a great location and we definitely have plans to return. Thanks for the peaceful escape from our unfortunate new norm due to Covid.

You can tell they designed this place to fit as many RVs in as humanly possible to maximize profit. No privacy, no room to park your tow vehicle. Management is rude. When reserving our spot on the phone, the lady acted like she could care less if we stayed there and seemed bothered that she had to deal with me. This should have tipped me off that we should stay elsewhere. On our last morning, we get a loud pounding on our camper door. An employee rudely informs us that I was speeding through the parking area. First off, The speed limit he informed me is 7mph. The parking area is rutted and very bumpy. Going any faster would be incredibly uncomfortable. High points... there is a lighted fishing pier. It's only large enough for a few people though, so good luck getting on there if it's busy. We won't be back.

They did bring us replacement comforters. The walls have drywall patches everywhere. The plumbing was leaking and falling out of the wall in some places. The towels were so thin and tiny. The toilets leaked. The smoke detector was hanging off the wall and obviously not working. The dust, dirt and grime were everywhere. The shower curtain in one of the 2 bedrooms we rented was so gross that we all chose to use the shower in the other bathroom. We had to let the water run for a while because it was brown and smelly. They shouldn't even be allowed to rent these out! One bedroom had no where to hang clothes and thw manager told us there was a closet in the living room are we could us. That closet did not have a light and had old furniture and other crap stocked up and no hanging rod. Unfortunately, everything I signed stated no refunds so we knew they would not give us our miney back. The day we checked in the lobby building didn't have electricity. They told my family member just stop back by tonight or in the morning. My family stopped by 3 times and sent the manager texts trying to meet up with her. After we returned from a funeral, the manager showed up yelling at my family member demanding payment. This was after she sent a text message with a photo of her credit card because the manager was not at the desk everytime we stopped by. She said we should have called to make arrangements to meet her. This was ludicrous! We also complained again about the gross accommodations and she said we should have spoke up earlier and she would have moved us. If they had something better why put us in that space to begin with? My family has lived in Columbia Lakes for over 50 years. We have used these cottages over the years but never will again. I have attached photos as proof!

As a guest, you have to stop by the office to obtain a wristband in order to use any of the Pointe West facilities. I have a service dog and immediately registered her upon arrival, as I am a rule follower. The ladies at the desk were not the nicest at first. They obviously have a registration form because we registered her, but it seemed like they didn't want to allow my dog in when we first walked in. They have a swimming pool, bar, restaurant, and lounge, from what I could tell. We didn't stay long since we needed to get back to the house to decorate. When we entered the restaurant, AFTER registering my dog, the lady in the restaurant had to call for approval. She was a little annoyed and seemed to not trust me when I told her I already registered my dog. Keep in mind, you cannot get passed the gate without stopping by the office because you have to have a code. Once we got passed the service dog "issue", the service was good. We started with the ceviche. It was very tasty. My friend and I split the shrimp platter. Terrific shrimp and onion rings! The serving is perfect for two to split. The atmosphere was a little bland, so I took off one star. Plus, I was still embarrassed it was an ordeal with my dog. I hate confrontation. I felt a place like this (especially for what we spent for the beach house) would be a little high scale of professionalism and decor. Side note: Our beach house was $3700.00 for the weekend - 3 days, 2 nights.

They were all speedy and friendly, helpful when it came to selecting cocktails and food. Chocolate martinis are still delicious, as are the fruity frou-frou drinks - but not that strong. And each time I got bubbly or a mimosa, it was warm. I still drank it, but meh. Drinks are still more than you'd want to pay for a not-so-stiff drink, but what hotel bar isn't pricey? I spent probs more than $100 just on myself, so I rec just buying a bottle. You have to have a wristband to access the pool and get towel service; not sure how to get a band if you're not staying at the hotel. I guess you could always rent a cabana. Which are pretty pimp. Flat screen TV, couches, fresh fruit, bottled water and of course, poolside view and VIP service. Cabanas sell out fast, so book early (weeks ahead, not days) if you're gonna drop in on a weekend. The crowd here is an even mix of families, hotties and regular Joes, which I like. I did, however, notice a lot of hot moms with their kiddos. Great idea for those moms looking for a quick getaway that can entertain both adults and youngsters. Potties: Please use them. Don't go in the pool. As added persuasion, the restroom inside the main lobby has a tub of fragrant salt scrub that's complimentary. They also have foot showers, a mojito bar, wet bar, hot tub, kiddie slide with a grotto. There's a no-smoking rule here. I'm not a smoker, but I wanted to enjoy my Hight Cigar and feel all baller like. Ah well, I'll save it for another day.

The office staff comment was, "there were not any bedbugs in the unit a week ago" very disturbing response when you are standing there with blisters all throughout your body including face. He did apologize and I asked if I could be compensated for my room and was told no. CONSUMERS BEWARE! This place is old and needs renovated. One of the bedroom doors the leads to the balcony did not lock. Not only did it not lock, but the wood around the doors were also corroded on both balcony doors. There was a dead cockroach on the floor when we checked in. While the location was great, nothing about this unit was pleasing. The furniture is old with blatant stains on the chairs, the carpet is dingy brown and dirty. This place is dirty and unkept! The location is very attractive but unit #9 was not. DON'T BE FOOLED

Clearly people had been using this place to hang out when not rented. But forgot to clean it before customers came. It doesn't say this place is 30 minutes from Galveston downtown & Pleasure Pier areas. Literally nothing close by except the many trash dumpsters & cow pastures our patio overlooks. Also, the nice pool & hot tub are not available for any guest. Only those that are able to secure a signature collection room. We own in Myrtle Beach & that property is sooooo much nicer. The only bonus for Galveston is that gulf water is like bath water. But don't use beach across the street, where signature collection building is. (We are allowed to use the beach there) but it's stinks so badly from sea weed & the water is full of sea weed. Drive into town & use the beaches there. Or better yet, skip this place & find a place in town. I wouldn't stay here again if I ever came back.
