Oh come on folks it's not that bad. Yes it smells kinda funky, yes I saw a few band aids, and yes the food was crap! But I thought the staff was friendly and very helpful. They were apologetic for the beach bag "pat down" (which you get at many amusement parks). The kids had a blast and so did grandma. If I had had a baby pool and a hose my kids would have been entertained but we were on a road trip and needed something to break up i5 so we promised them a waterpark. First off they charge for everyone even if you aren't going to be in the water at all. Then they tried to charge my daughter the over 48" rate tho she isn't. We needed another staff person to offer a second opinion. Then they told us that the only food allowed in is gerber baby food products so I had to throw out my baby's Cheerios. Seriously? only gerber?? do they have a deal with them or something? No water bottles or any food allowed so you have to buy their food and water, and then they nickel and dime you again if you want to use a water ring that seats two or three people. For the $70 we spent I was expecting them not to charge for every little thing like that. It's tacky and for sure I won't be visiting again. I'd rather go to target and get that baby pool. read more

Came here with my best friend today (: we had so much fun. This is one of my favorite places to go this summer. My favorite ride is the Cyclone..it makes me scream so loud every time..it never gets old. I even went on the Avalanch and it about scared the holy macaroni out of me haha. A summer must if you have kiddos. We went at least 3 times a week. We have never had a problem. We tend to go in the evenings when it's less crowded. We mainly stay in the kiddie area. I do wish that sometimes more staff was in the area. When it's really really busy they do but when it's only 1 person it's so hard for them to watch the water, watch the kids running up to the slides and monitoring that they don't fall while standing on the kiddie water slide. Going for the day is to expensive, getting a pass is worth it even if you go just a couple times. They have specials when you buy your pass off season (plus you get a free ticket per pass) and seniors get a great discount pass. We have never bought food at the snack bar but we loved getting a double scoop of ice cream. read more

Don't do it! If you've been to water parks in Tacoma, Boise or Boulder Beach you will be VERY disappointed. We were there for half and hour and left, $40 down the drain. I have not been to this park since I was 16 and worked there. Went last night with my husband and our 1 year old twins an another couple with a young child. We went from 3-6pm during twilight hours which made each adult admission only $12 instead of almost $20 and the kids were all free. Because it was a cool day, the park was pretty empty and we never waited more than 3 minutes for any ride. I found the park to be very clean and the fact that there is free ice water available to anyone was really nice. We will try to go back once more this summer for twilight hours again. read more

The park itself can be fun. Keep an eye on your little ones (the life guards won't save them or you) and be prepared to pay waaay more than you should. The staff is awful! They actually tried to kick me off a ride because they thought I was pregnant. I'm 146 lbs and 5'6" and I'm in excellent shape. I know I'm no anorexic string bean, but seriously. That was ridiculous. And beyond rude. The female staff was nice, but there's not many of those. And they don't even let you bring in water or a bottle with breast milk(we has a baby with our party list). And they search your bags which is understandable unless you're a huge group of kids for a birthday party. They didn't even let is bring a birthday cake in! Seriously that place needs some management. The male staff that wasn't asking of I was pregnant, was hitting on me in a weird creepy way. I wouldn't recommend this place at all. read more

We went on a Tuesday so it was not busy, like their website stated, so that was very nice. There was plenty of shade to rest between slides. The kids had a great time and line wait times were tolerable for a 4 and 6 year old. Had a fab time all day long until the very end when I had to actually interact with an employee. SO rude and got the impression she just thought she was hot *hit. It was the end of an exhausting day and we were standing in line to get our deposit back for the raft we had rented. The woman behind the counter kept screaming at everyone to get out of line if you are just waiting with a friend. My husband tore off his bracelet and handed it to me to wait in line so he could make room for others in line. When my turn in line finally came up she refused to give us a refund because the bracelet was torn off. SERIOUSLY?!?!? We have enjoyed Water Works as season pass guests for three years. It is great for little ones and the majority of the life guards are VERY good especially in the children's area. We have only had one instance where a life guard basically ignored the children as they smashed into each other down the flume. I took over monitoring the flume at that point when the LG said, "kids don't listen" & "I'm a LG not a babysitter." He was disengaged. I reported him to the office and they were on it. But PLEASE know that Water Works is a GREAT spot and has top quality LGs. We LOVE them and love how hard they work to guarantee a great and safe time for all. read more

The food gave my friend a horrible stomach ache and while I was in the Cyclone, our tube tipped over and I hit my head VERY hard on the ride. Had a blast here today and enjoyed the upgrade last year with the wave pool. My kids want to come just to play in the wave pool itself, burning calories, staying off video games, keeping cool, what more could you ask for? The staff are always super friendly. Last year they helped out with a little mistake they made and talked to my daughter as she had issues trusting her dad (my ex) and thought he lied about buying her season passes. The manager took time out of her busy day running the park to make sure my daughter knew that it was the parks mistake and her dad did in fact buy her and her brother season passes. Super fun! Lots of different slides and pools to chose from. Many people complain about the line, but you can put sun lotion on during that time or get a season pass to go in shorter line. Cleanliness is better than aquatic center by far! They have lots of shaded eating areas and tables that are located near little kid playground which consists of many fun slides and a sprinkle pool, so you can watch your kid while you eat. About eight different fun slides match all abilities. It's not true that you have to rent tubes; single ones are free. Bathrooms are ok. Our family had a great time and the cheaper last three hours were enough for us. Everything felt safe and fun. It's true though that they do not close at 6:00 as stated. Things start shutting down at 5:30. They even set their clocks ahead about 10 minutes. Really? I mean, isn't that for fooling small children? If a store closes at 6:00 I expect the doors open and clerks ready at 5:55. It's cool to close at 5:30, but then post that time and keep the clocks real. read more

I went there yesterday with my girlfriend and kid. Before going I researched the park and no where did it show you had to rent tubes. We could not ride any of the rides due to not having tubes. We waited for tubes for 4 hours and nothing. We were forced to limited rides for a ridiculous price. Then they had a code red but failed to let people know how long the rides would be closed. I will not go back since I from Chico and can go to the river for free. I think the establishment is poorly managed from the cafe that would not let me upgrade my soda even though I was willing to pay extra to the functionality in general. read more

You have to rent tubes in order to ride most of the slides, and even though I paid for double tubes, they didn't have any to give us for most of the day, so I kept having to go back, wait in line, and then check again, and again, and again!!! It's ok, for Redding $60 for a season pass is worth it for summer. It's Redding's take on a water park so you can't have high expectations. I wouldn't rent a tent or anything. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME. Rent a hotel with a nice pool instead. Not enough for our 4 and 6 year old. And we set our rented tub down for lunch and it was STOLEN. With no way to get it back or track it our older kids were out of luck. Food was ok. Concession staff was friendly. Park was seriously in dis repair. Wonderd why there was so many warnings posted. Cause there were so many places to hurt yourself. All 4 of my children had chunks of skin missing from their feet from swiming the lagoon. Really. And I personally saw 2 different children get cuts on their legs. There website is out of date and needs to tell people they shouldn't bring water to the gate and that there is really not much for small children. heart breaking to the kids. we should have gone to the bigger park farther away. read more

As season pass holders for 3 summers, we are regular visitors. Our first visit this season was disappointing. Just 45 minutes after opening, the restrooms were in really bad shape, to the point where I had to wonder if they had not been cleaned from the previous day. Three of the attractions were closed (Cyclone, one big slide and the swimming pool). This visit was the first time my son was tall enough to ride the big slides, which he enjoyed all morning. Then around 2pm, he was suddenly told he was too small and was not allowed on the slides. He was disappointed to say the least. Many of the chairs and umbrellas are broken and need to be repaired or replaced. I hope management can put some extra resources toward basic cleanliness and maintenance issues. And if a kid is tall enough to ride, they need to be allowed to ride. All day. (Maybe a wristband for those that are just barely there to avoid big disappointments like we experienced?!) Pull it together, Waterworks! We expect better when it comes to cleanliness and customer service. read more

We had just come from the crowds of Roseville, and this was a welcome surprise for my mother and my 8 year old son. Nana found a ride she enjoyed, and the lines were short. Our family went to Waterworks Park for a private party and the water was disgusting, it had hair and multiple band aids and debri floating throughout. We bought season passes here this year instead of the Aquatic Center, which I will never make that mistake again, EVER. I am appalled at how filthy the entire park is. I am appalled at how rude the staff is. It is insulting to me that 1) they search your bag before you enter and will take away empty/ near empty water bottles. 2) they claim that you can bring in Gerber Baby snacks, but they are so high on a power trip that they had the nerve to OPEN my baby's snack containers and get their dirty hands all over his food. The food is incredibly overpriced. $5 for a snowcone for crying out loud. I will never again buy a pass, not go to this place again. I will take the time to take my kids to a nice water park in Sacramento or Concord. If they had any customer appreciation they would at least offer a 10% discount to pass holders. I get the impression that they feel like you should be glad that they have this crappy water park to come to. Don't waste your time. Super disappointed we drove 3 hours after reserving a cabana online because it was going to be 106 that day and we had our 88 year old grandma traveling with us. When we arrive I tell them I have a reservation for a cabana, turns out they cannot find us. I pull up my confirmation and Somehow the reservation online reserved us for 1995. It's 2016 how can you backdate to 1995. How is that even possible? I double triple checked my date when selecting online. They obviously need to update their website. They offered to call us if a cabana became available or someone cancelled. But they didn't. We stayed almost until closing and noticed a cabana that hadn't been used all day. Did we get a phone call? No. Would not recommend, it was way over crowded and they should have offered to let a couple of us in for free for there website reservation malfunction. read more

My kids will have fun if water is involved. Be forewarned, if you have a kid under 48", your options will be very limited unless you rent a double raft for an additional $8. We were "patted down" upon entry, lest we be armed with food or water bottles. If you can overlook these things, the park can be lots of fun. DOES NOT DESERVE ONE STAR. I buy season passes every year for my family of 5. With each season pass bought they give you 1 free day pass for friends and family. When I picked up my season passes this year I didn't get my free day passes. I realized it when a friend of mine came over and I offered 2 to her. Anyone who knows me knows I am a very honest and organized person if I got the passes they would have been in my wallet with our season passes. If you have ever gotten season passes from here you know it's utter chaos. I called Waterworks and after being passed to 4 different people the general manager got in the phone. She treats me like I am some dirt bag trying to extra passes. Will NOT be buying season passes again ever. Even with season passes we spend over $50 a visit on renting tubes, food, drinks etc. Waterworks Park doesn't care I am just a peon who they think is trying to get something for free. read more

I guess it is ok if not a busy day but this park is TINY and overpriced for the little that is offered. Don't bother buying tickets online as they aren't efficient at the entry and make you stand in line anyways. There is so much "why did I even bother?!" About this place that it is maddening. I'm a bit peeved I paid this much for my family to come here and that I drove over an hour. For a day pass... WHY do I need an armband? Let the lady scan my prepaid ticket and let me in, or have her administer the wrist band. I bought online to avoid the 30 min wait. So much stupidity at this place... It doesn't deserve my time on this review. Also, let me add that while the food isn't that unreasonably priced and the chicken fingers are very good (only 3 with fried and a medium drink for $10...) the line moves slower than molasses. It's a waste of time to try to get food/drink here. Also, bring your own toilet paper! They sure don't give incentive to NOT pee in the pool. Every stall had none and it is hard to find someone who can help rectify that in a timely manner. There was never toilet paper while I was there (2 pm and on). Also the tubes are scarce if you don't want to pay to rent the larger tubes for 2 or 3 riders. You can wait ages to get a free single use tube. read more

On the evening of 9/5/14 my boyfriend and I decided to attend an adult only party held at Water Works Park (that was advertised on the radio). What a mistake that was. Just like many others had stated, this place is run by a bunch of rude young adults acting like teenager and a totally drunk general manager (Rebecca Ortiz) that not only parties and drinks while on duty but, has zero customer service skills. I have no idea why you Melissa have this person as a manager, after all of the complaints in this site, haven't you gotten the hint....Let me say it to you once again. Get a new manager.! Maybe if I tell you how she treated us while we visited your park you may be willing to do something about it. The DJ announced a bikini swap/ swim contest. The prize for the winning couple was $1,000 plus two season passes.. He announced the prize over and over again for a total of twelve times. During his announcement managers and staff were in plain site and this woman Rebecca Ortiz was even dancing on the dance floor, only a couple of feet away from where the prize was being announced. When all the competing couples where in the water and the staff was giving the competitors instructions, the DJ announced the $1000 prize two more times and the bikini swap/ swim contest began. My boyfriend and I were the winners. Many of the participants and other park guest congratulated us for winning the $1,000 prize. Rebecca Ortiz congratulated us as well and even took pictures of us with her cell phone, When I asked her where do I go claim my prize, she ignored me and turned her back on me. Finally, Rebecca told me to go to the office. At the office the lady called a different staff member to come and give me the money while another staff member asked me "so, what did you think you won?" I responded $1,000 and two season passes. He laughed. A pregnant blond lady gave us two season passes and said "sorry we did not tell the DJ to offer $1,000 as a prize. I asked to speak to the general manager but, she was nowhere to be found. I went to the DJ and I said "what's up? You announced a prize for $1,000 and the park only gave me two season passes. He said that he was sorry and if he had the money he will give it to me but, he just announced what this lady told him (pointing at Rebecca Ortiz). He said he will speak to her in my behalf. As he went to speak to her I asked a staff member, who was the manager, and she pointed to the lady that the DJ was speaking with. Soon after the DJ returned and apologized once more but said that there was a mistake. He was only doing what some other girl told him ( he changed his story at this point and could not identify the girl that approved the $1,000 prize by name nor by site. I felt I should personally speak to the manager. When I approached her she was two feet away from the music speaker. I introduced myself and asked her if we could go to a quiet place like her office to speak about this matter and she refused. I asked how is it possible to promise something and not follow through and her response was "I never approved that, take it up with the DJ. And if you don't like it you can get the fuck out of here". And she proceeded to call security. Not only Water Works Park didn't follow through with the promised $,1000 prized announced several times by the DJ. right in front of staff and Manager Rebeca Ortiz but, she immediately became defensive,, vulgar and aggressive. I was only asking them to follow through with what they promised but, it was obvious at this point, that she had zero intention to listen to my complaint and told me to go fuck myself. What a way to treat paying customers. She had no clue on how to deal with this situation so she automatically resourced to bullying practices by calling security on us. It was totally uncalled for, we were not being disrespectful in anyway, all we were asking her is to honor the prize the park advertised....at the very minimum come up with some friendly compromised. Needless to say,I will never return to this place unless you take the necessary steps to make it a safe and friendly place to visit and be willing to do the right thing for myself and others that have been victimized at your place. This place is full of bait and switch tactics. like, "no host bar" but, they still charge for drinks and bogus prizes that they are not willing to honor at the end. Melissa, I will gladly speak to you if you want to speak with me about this matter and clear your already shady reputation of your establishment. 2.5 stars out of five...I think you can do better than that. Start by getting rid off your manager as others have already mentioned, she is clueless and a real BITCH. I will definitely report your establishment to the Better Business Bureau. read more

The girl checking bags at entry was horrible throwing belongs out of the bag in her quest to locate contraband and forbidden items...seriously ruder than TSA at the airport- The lady selling tickets was inconvenienced that we had any questions.
