Check your credit card statements if you use Watson & Taylor Self Storage. They had a "glitch" and now, even though you cannot make a payment online or over the phone, you may be locked out. They charged my card on January 27, credited back January 30. Now bill is unpaid with no way to pay on time unless I go to the location. read more

Avoid, if possible. I needed to rent two U-Haul "Box Dollys". Office closed -- phone number on sign to call for service. Called and a while later man showed up and let me in. I told him what I needed and as he sat down to process, a young woman walked in with her husband. The man put my paperwork to the side and immediately started discussing a rental unit to hold a 'garage' worth of stuff. I was so dumbfounded at this egregious discourteousy that i just left. Again I emphasize, avoid this place for ANY OTHER option. read more

Extremely unprofessional staff and the man was not knowledgable about his uhaul rental service. Also he was blatantly rude and unhelpful to me when I asked a simple question. I would steer clear of this establishment. SKETCHY at best, they will rip you off! read more

I wish I could give this no stars. Better yet negative stars. This facility is disgusting! We have had our belongings there for a year. When we went to start bringing some of our stuff out, and into our new place, we discovered mice had been having their way with everything. There were outlines around our boxes and furniture of feces, our furniture reeks of mice urine. I'm sorry if anyone else is like us, you struggle to pay, but you do it thinking that your belongings are being kept safe. Not true. There are plenty of other facilities on the island, please I warn you do not go to this facility. Watson and Taylor used to be fantastic, we have used them in Galveston years ago, and in other locations, but the manager that's been there the last year is going to run the place into the ground. You might as well just throw your stuff away. read more

We were looking for a U-Haul storage facility to use for the free month provided by our rental, so we stopped to see if we could store things here. Tricia, the manager, was so helpful even though we were not giving her any business. She called around to three different places to find a U-Haul sanctioned storage facility for us. Conveniently located at Church and 22nd streets in downtown Galveston, I don't know of a better…read morestorage situation on the island. All storage units are "high and dry" on the 2nd floor or higher so you don't have to worry about hurricane flood waters. This sturdy old building has withstood many a hurricane and storm. Security here is excellent. You get a keypad code that allows you access anytime between 8 am and 8 pm, 7 days. You can't enter without your unique key code, and there are security cameras monitoring the entrances to the building. You can either park in the alley and load through a large roll-up door, or you can punch your key code into the entrance gate and park in a secure, fenced area for a more secure situation. This fenced area also has a small covered portico that allows you to back under and stay dry if it is raining. The building is fully sprinklered for fire protection, and has central heat and air conditioning, a must here in south Texas. The only drawback is there is only one elevator. That has never been a problem for me because I've never had to wait on the elevator, but if it ever breaks down that would make things very challenging.

During my recent move, I decided to give them my repeat business. Huge mistake. You get what you pay for. They quoted $110 per hour plus $70 admin fee, minimum 2 hours. That was fine. However, when they showed up, they advised that they charge $15 per roll for shrink wrap. I was in agreement with using the shrink wrap and blankets but they advised they were not sure how many rolls they would use. Then it was changed to 3 rolls. I've used movers in the past and they have always included shrink wrap and blankets in their pricing. However, I've also seen how the shrink wrap is used and 3 rolls is grossly overestimated. I've included a picture of the shrink wrap roll for reference. After signing for them to start the job, a never ending agreement about the number of shrink wrap rolls they would use, and the clock already ticking, I agreed for them to move forward with the additional $45 scam. Instead, they went outside, spoke amongst themselves and someone on the phone and advised that they would not be completing the job and left. I called the primary phone number and spoke with the owner who advised me that I should have accepted the scam pricing from the beginning and then disconnected the phone call. Cancelling a job because you don't want to be called out for overcharging for shrink wrap that should be included in your job is ridiculous. Moving is stressful. To walk out on someone during a time like that is not someone that deserves your business. The bright side is that I had another moving company's card on my door. I contacted them and they were available in the late afternoon. They ended up coming a few hours earlier. The price included the shrink wrap and blankets. They completed a HUGE job in 2.5 hours. I paid more per hour and tipped the 3 movers well. The fact that Astros Moving Company attempted to ruin my day over $45 is ridiculous. They would have made much more than that in tips and repeat business. Edit as of 05/09/25. In response to the owner. I NEVER advised them that I did not have the money to pay the ridiculous $45 for three rolls that were clearly not going to be used. After agreeing to disagree, I actually advised them to move forward. They chose to walk away instead. Not only did I pay more than the $45 with the other moving company, I tipped them generously. In business, some things are about the principle, not the money.

Mark and his team were friendly and courteous and showed a great deal of respect for my home (walls, stairway, door openings). That also means I don't have to pay some $60-70 price markup a month to keep items in an AC storage that don't need it. I would ask if they have any AC storage units available if you really want it.
