We had a break down on my 2002 F250 7.3 diesel on the way from Southern California to a family reunion at the KOA campground near this shop. Had our 5th wheel towed to the campground and had the truck towed to Watsonville Diesel. Truck sat for the weekend at their shop. Went to the shop Monday and spoke with the owner. I voiced my concerns about what I believed to be the issue with the truck more than once, clogged filters in the fuel tank. He explained to me that the fuel pump had failed and assured me that the repair would solve our problem. Being that we so far from home and up against a reservation timeline in Morro Bay. I paid him $1235.00 for a $130 fuel pump and left. We left the next morning after hooking up our 5th wheel and headed to Morro Bay. After about 80 miles into our 100 mile trip the exact thing happened. The truck quit running just as it had before on the initial break down. My first call was to the shop that "repaired" my truck and told them of my break down. Receptionist took a message and I never got a return call. Went to the auto parts store and purchased another fuel pump. Installed it in a grocery store parking lot and left to continue the remainder of our trip. 10 minutes and 5 or 6 miles down the road the same thing happened again, except this time on a hilly windy two lane road. I was barely able to get it into an emergency turn off and worked on a solution to my fuel problem. Sent my wife in her car to buy fuel cans and 15 gallons of diesel and some 3/8" fuel line. Ran the fuel lines from the fuel pump to the gas cans in the bed of the truck bypassing the trucks fuel tank. Turned the key and the truck fired up and ran fair the rest of the journey to our campsite. The next morning, I removed the fuel tank in my campsite from the truck and removed the fuel pickup from the tank and disassembled. Guess what I found, two in the tank filter/ strainers more than 100% clogged. Cleaned the strainers with some brake cleaner and reinstalled the fuel tank. We left the next morning to return home. Truck ran less than perfect 300 miles home without incident. To my dismay the continued fuel starvation over the course of our trip to Morro caused the fuel injectors to incur damage. The repair bill will be around $3000 because a "diesel mechanic" didn't know how to diagnose a fuel system problem. Several phone calls and texts have gone unanswered. I got a response after I threatened a lawsuit. They blamed the fuel pump not the inaccurate diagnoses. This business owner does not need to be in business and not leaving me any alternative than to take him to court. He needs to return my money for the initial repair and pay for my injectors due to his missed diagnoses. LESS THAN ONE STAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I fixed it myself. See you in court! read more

Five stars isn't enough. Our family has been planning this bus-based vacation for a year. The day before our family's huge trip that we planned for a year, the fridge broke. With 100 ° heat on the menu for the week long trip, the refrigerator quitting was a trip killer. We limped into the shop without an appointment, expecting a long wait, our trip to be cancelled, and a big bill. Instead, the crew jumped on it right away, stayed past 8 p.m., and kept us in the loop the whole time. By morning they'd found the only workable fix: pull the entire windshield, widen the opening, and slide a new fridge straight through the front of the bus. Wild, but they handled every step: sourcing the unit, coordinating glass removal, custom-cutting the frame, reinstalling the windshield, and cleaning up so our children wouldn't step on a rogue metal shaving. The new fridge is running cold, the windshield is sealed tight, and our trip is back on track. They didn't just repair a rig; they saved a long-awaited family adventure. I brought our 2012 Fleetwood Providence into Watsonville Diesel on Friday afternoon with a check engine light and an ABS Fault. Alfredo Garcia has worked on our bus before. He said that he would look at it as soon as he could. I explained to him that we were leaving for Oregon on Sunday for our daughters wedding. We talked about 4:00 and he was still tied up with another project. We did not hear back that evening so we assumed that he was not able to get to it and we would have to work out different travel arrangements. Saturday morning I got a call that Alfredo had stayed well into the night to get us back on to the road. From what I understand, Alfredo had travel plans as well but he went over and above to take care of us. His customer service is second to none and I will always have Watsonville Diesel do all my diesel repairs. read more

My coach was towed in due to a failed injection pump. (A $3000 part). Alfredo negotiated the price down to about $1300 and the total bill came in well under the price for the part. I've had Watsonville Diesel service my brakes and the results were great! They work better than they ever did during the previous 11 years of my ownership and they discovered a bad axle seal on the passenger side rear. This, if left as it was, would inevitably have led to a failed rear axle. This easily saved me from THOUSANDS of dollars in repairs soon thereafter if it hadn't been discovered. Kudos to George for watching out for me. They also had to completely replace my dash AC hoses because the old fittings were completely corroded. In spite of the rust and corrosion they were able to salvage my AC system to working quite efficiently. Before they did the work, I'd charge the system and it would leak out in about two or three days. Driving in the middle of summer was no fun, unless you enjoy a sauna without a cold splash at the end. Again and again, I highly recommend Watsonville Diesel. They will doggedly pursue locating parts that are just about impossible to locate and this was what needed to be done to locate all the parts for the AC in my 23 year old diesel pusher even though the original manufacturer is no longer in business. They are nice people, who are willing to work with you. My shop is in Stockton Ca. and I was delivering in Watsonville when my Izusu NPR broke down. They were nice enough to stay open an extra half hour for me. Then one of the mechanics (Augie) was nice enough to drive me to a Burger King that was right off highway 1. He said it would be easier for my co-worker to find me. I want to say "Thank you, so much" to them. I have yet to see how my truck will turn out, but I have faith it will be fine. read more

Worst place I've ever been they lied about putting new parts in my vehicle. Do not recommend theam!!!!

They did a poor job of diagnosing our truck issues and also damaged our customer supplied parts so that we could not return the unused parts. They still refuse to pay for the parts they rendered un-returnable. I do not recommend this shop. read more

Took my 6.0 powerstroke into Watsonville Diesel early in 2018. The job took way longer than orginally quoted, as well as the price. Had no consisent answers, not good service, wasn't even sure who was working on my truck. Was really dissappointed in the outcome. Had them do the oil cooler, not even 4 months down the road I need a new one. Not a happy customer. read more

Do not go here! They said the job would cost 400 and it ended up costing 650. They said it took them longer because it was complicated to install a new power steering pump. It takes 4 hours max to do this job. Anyone could have done it and if your a certified diesel mechanic you should have no problems. Then they almost didnt get it done when they said they would, had to call and make sure they were still working on it! If all that wasn't enough, two days later it was leaking like crazy. They said it was the hose and it had been punctured. Who punctured it? I didnt, makes sense it happened on the installation. Then they started putting a new hose on without even calling to see if that was ok with me. Then they charged us the full amount for there mess up! Wow, should call the BBB and have them shut down. Do not take your vehicle there! Not worth getting taken advantage of and wasting your money. Plenty of other good shops in sc county. Very disappointed. Never will return even if last place on earth. read more

Took my '69 Nova there last week... had some body work done plus a new paint job... they had it all done in less than a week. They are great priced and super quick. I highly recommend these guys. Great family business. read more
