I am pretty heavy handed and MacBooks are made for people with soft little hands so my laptop screen breaks often. Going to Apple is insane because their prices do not equate to quality of service but here it absolutely does. Okay, so there was a lot of back and forth on my dealings with this. Some timeline run down: I brought in a computer monitor on 3/23/22 because the USB ports weren't working. With parts being backordered/shipping issues/etc. it took nearly a month (4/21/22) for me to get the call that my monitor is fixed. (I get that repair people can't control shipping things, but I would have appreciated some version of an estimated time frame on when we would get the hardware back). When I got it back on 4/21/22, the USB ports still didn't work (despite being charged $375). I brought the monitor back to give them a second chance to fix the issue. Another several weeks go by before I get the call that the USB ports are really fixed this time (5/9/22). I bring my laptop to double check--and it truly looks to be fixed this time without any additional charges. Except, within four hours of having it home, the entire monitor stopped working. I couldn't even get the screen to turn on. (Mind, my biggest complaint was that, if at any time over the 7 weeks I had been told "Your monitor can't be fixed," I completely would have accepted that outcome. I just wanted some communication). I then took the monitor to Best Buy in Porter Ranch, where the Geek Squad said the monitor was beyond repair and recommended it be turned in to be recycled. Now here's where Best Buy failed: because I had this monitor insured via SquareTrade (again, I've had it less than a year), I submitted all the receipts I had for this incident to the claims department. Initially, they wouldn't accept the receipt sent in by Watt Computer Repair (didn't have any company information or an itemized list of what the charges were for), so they asked Best Buy to send in a document simply confirming the monitor was beyond repair. However, Best Buy gave me a bunch of hooey about how it's against company policy to admit they couldn't fix something, so they refused to write-up such a statement of facts. I, therefore, went back to Dory and, despite my initial one-star review on here, he was all too happy to write me an itemized document stating exactly why the charges had been made and how the monitor couldn't be fixed. I may have been disappointed that it took nearly two months to find out I should have just replaced the broken item, but I cannot fault Dory for being a gracious professional who cares more about his customers than whatever "company policy" prevents Best Buy from helping out a customer with an insurance claim at literally zero cost to themselves. read more

This morning I turned on my computer only to find that I was not able to access the internet. I spent a while on the phone with my provider but we determined it was not the internet company. Very frustrating because they couldn't figure it out and neither could I. I then did a search for Computer/IT repair and Watt came up. I called the number and Dory picked up right away. I actually used yelp's request thing where you get multiple replies. Hadn't seen Wyatt Computer Repair in my initial search, but yelp's request looped them in among 4 or 5 others, including my original request. Dory got back to me in 10 minutes. The others, much later. Dory replied to my reply to his initial reply before anyone else even replied to me with their initial thoughts. See where I'm going? Some of the others misread my email and began discussing the wrong type of product. Dory did not. Some simply said what their quote would be, barely acknowledging my circumstance. Dory, however, wanted to understand more. He asked for a video and asked if I could send it via text, and that resulted in further and further explanation of my issue. We ended up texting multiple times. Get this...WHILE we were texting and talking about it...he ordered the part. He got confirmation of when it would arrive AS we were completing our conversation! He then said, come by tomorrow (it was already late Monday), "I might have it all done by EOD Wednesday." I did just that. And he did just that. My computer died in the middle of my job search earlier this week. I knew what the problem was (needed new battery), but despite watching SO MANY Youtube videos, I could not get far. By the time I ended up with some stripped screws, I was sure the battery couldn't be removed and I needed to invest in a new laptop.
