    Beef pie and mashed potatoes
    Jonathan A.

Food is okay. Front of house was no where to be seen. We had to walk in and walk around the restaurant before someone could confirm our reservation or show us to our seats. It was 12 in the afternoon and seemed to be quite empty and disorganized. Service after being seated was much better. The server was very accommodating and frequently came in to refill water and check in on our needs. The food for the most part is average. Definitely value for money, but depending on what you order could be a positive or negative experience. Both burgers ordered for our party were charred to the point of burnt hockey pucks. The fries however were very crispy and probably a highlight of the meal. The English beef pie was one of the daily specials, and although I had some doubts, I was pleasantly surprised. The pie is served with coleslaw and a choice of side. I opted for mashed potatoes. The pie itself wasn't bad. There was no absence of meat or gravy in the filling, however the entire pie was smothered in gravy. Instead of a crispy pie shell, it was soggy. The flavour of the gravy and crust is comparable to one of those frozen pot pies you get at the grocery store. Taste is okay, a little on the saltier side and not the best pie I've had, but still decent. The mashed potatoes on the other hand were very sad. They were lumpy, dry, and bland. Honestly if they had smothered the gravy on the mash, I would not have noticed and would probably have been much happier. Don't get the mashed potatoes. They are a huge disappointment. It's actually a little aggravating at how little care went into those mashed potatoes. However, I scraped all the gravy off the pie and they were then edible. I had a taste of the veal parmesan and it was very dry. It tasted like a dry veal cutlet in between some dry garlic bread. Not enough cheese or tomato sauce to cover that one up. I did not try the fish and chips but from what I saw the portion was quite large. Overall an average experience. Not the best, not the worst. Just okay. Food is hit or miss. Service after finally being seated was excellent. Probably one of the saving graces of the experience. Hopefully they can improve on the food. It wasn't bad... just not very good. Except the fries. Fries are great!

Hot turkey sandwich ($10) with cranberry sauce, peas plus mashed potatoes and gravy. Portion was great and the taste was delicious. The cranberry sauce is unique in that it's tangy but not sweet. If you want thanksgiving early, this is the hearty meal you want on a cold Autumn day. The grilled chicken wrap ($11) was like Chinese food goodness in a delightful wrap. A little greasy but the teriyaki taste was yummy. They have all-day breakfast?!? Totally coming back!

Great food with great service. Spacious with really nice bar area. Located inside the mall. Plenty of parking available.

This is a wine bar - the house lager was bad (maybe my own bad decision) and the red I got was fine ... nothing to write home about. However place fell apart with the food - the shrimp came with 5 medium sized shrimp with the tails, legs and shells on and were under seasoned. The artichokes were mediocre (loved the sauce they came with). Worst of all was the "Ontario peaches" with the burrata were totally canned peaches - could've even been dole brand! This place has amazing potential with the location and vibe - but the food just was not it. Small portions and the price didn't match what was served. The service was friendly but nothing too crazy. Go here for the drinks, but maybe not for the dinner!

Our server was great at helping us pick our wine, he mentioned that their wines are all on the dry side which is perfect for me, I'm not one for sweet wines. We also had two of their small plates the mussels and the burrata. The mussels tasted great with the sauce, a little garlicky which I prefer. The combination of the peach and mint went really well with the burrata. Light and easy to eat. The patio at night is one of the highlights. The only small complaint was it did take a while to get our wine after we ordered it and a little while to get our check. Otherwise cute spot.

Lots of decent beers on draft and they leave water bottle to refill your water cups, which I love. Service is bit slow. Had to sit at the bar since it was crowded at 6:30pm and still had to wait 30 mins. I normally don't eat at the bar, since bartenders are slower and busier with drink orders, but I was starving. Bartender only checked on us once, when food came out. Hard to get their attention too. Food, however, was amazing! Love the savory giant meatball and the rich San Marzano tomato-based marinara sauce, with dab of pesto and plenty of fresh basil. Loved the sauce was not too acidic and pasta cooked perfectly, not al dente. The focaccia bread comes with this rosemary garlic butter, and it was absolutely delicious on focaccia. The focaccia bread alone was just okay, not much rosemary or oil flavor, but I think the spread had all the flavor. Amazing and worth $6.

Food 3/5 Service 3/5…read moreAmbiance 3/5 Food: I came here for an event. There was a set menu with appetizers (salad, bread etc) most of it I couldn't eat due to food allergies. For the main dish we could choose from gnocchi, salad with salmon or another dish which I can't recall right now. Dessert was ice cream which I also couldn't eat. The gnocchi was very mediocre. I didn't enjoy it at all. I hadn't been here in years but I see their food quality hasn't gotten any better. I was starving by the time the main dish came out so I ate about a quarter of the dish. Then I took the rest of the gnocchi home. Service: The waitstaff were really nice but the service was not very organized. There was a lot of appetizers but I couldn't eat most of it. Which is strange because I gave my food allergies several days in advance of the meal. It took some time to get the main dish as well so the pacing didn't seem great. I looked around at the other tables & we got our main dishes last. I'm not sure if the kitchen was at fault or what. Ambiance: It's quite dark here even on the lunch hour. The decor is dark wood tones, red upholstered banquette seating & wooden tables & chairs. It's not a fancy place. I would not choose to eat here again. Last time I went was several years ago. Sadly I see they haven't gotten any better. There are other better Italian restaurants in this area.
