I came here last summer for drinks and dinner on their patio. The restaurant had classic "pub" style food and also some nice craft beers on tap. Service was great. I ordered their steak salad and for drinks, an aperol spritz. They ended up accidentally making me 2 drinks so I got one for free (that was a plus)! The steak salad was tasty and was cooked to a perfect medium rare. The greens were just tossed in a standard balsamic vinaigrette. All and all it was a solid dining experience. I was happy with both the food, service, and atmosphere but nothing stood out that would make me come back again and again. read more

Cheddar cheese should not be on the burger, to begin with. It's gross. Mozzarella or Swiss is the way to go. The buns were good though. The fries were very good too. Not sure why coleslaw wasn't creamy like at most other places. I didn't like their coleslaw. It tasted as if it came from a store-bought jar. It wasn't homemade. Mind you, my experience is limited by one visit. Perhaps, their calamari and "chips and fish" are to die for. I don't know. So far, I'm giving them 3/5 stars. I live fairly near to the Belsize Public House and yet this was somehow only my first visit to the place. And if the calibre of the food I ate is any indication, I'll definitely have to make this joint a regular haunt. We arrived around lunchtime on a Monday and the place was sparsely populated. I gave the menu a quick scan and almost immediately landed on the Jerk Pork Sandwich ("scotch bonnet aioli, fresh mango, coleslaw & tomatoes in a pita, served with fries & curried chickpeas"). It arrived about 20 minutes later and I have to admit it's much, much better than I was expecting. I've grown a little weary of anything with jerk seasoning as of late, given that every time I seem to order it, the dish is bland and, worse still, hardly spicy at all. That was definitely not the case here. The intimidatingly large concoction is full of well-spiced and flavorful pieces of pork, and the heat-level is, much to my delight, definitely higher than I was expecting. The mango, coleslaw, and tomatoes all work perfectly in the sandwich, while the pita tasted fresh and actually held up well to the various ingredients contained within (which is itself no small feat). My one complaint would be that certain pieces of pork were a little chewy and overly fatty. With a sandwich like this, one wants unctuously soft chunks of meat and that was unfortunately not quite the case here. As for the fries, they were outstanding, and the curried chickpeas, though not entirely necessary, were also quite good. read more

Myself and a couple of co-workers popped in for lunch and to say that we were disappointed is an understatement....the food was mediocre at best...they claim that the wings are made in-house and hand breaded etc, etc, however that is not the case, they clearly look and taste like something out of a presidents choice box...they were dry, hard, chewy and look like day old wings. In addition to this, my celery was black and bruised, wish I got a better picture. I work down the street from the Belsize and my colleagues and I come here often (sometimes too often). THE FOOD- This is a great lunch spot, I've tried many of the things on the menu and have never made a bad choice. The steak and cobb salads are both flavourful and filling, the Jerk Pork and Grilled veg sandwiches are both delicious. And the Moroccan chickpea stew and chicken pot pie are both great comforting choices on cold days. THE DRINK- They consistently have a good craft beer selection here, and although I don't often have a drink at lunch, I always take a look at it and am impressed by it. THE SPACE- This is a cozy, little spot that's great for conversation over good food and drink. THE SERVICE- The service here is always friendly and generally pretty fast. read more

Dear Patron's I visited the Belsize pub on a quiet Tuesday afternoon this past Summer.. I sat at the bar and chatted with the kind chatty bartender. I can't remember her name, but she was full of information and fun facts. I come from the restaurant industry and love food and good service more than anything. Creating an experience for someone is very rewarding !! I am from Vancouver and have lived abroad for years. I am a fan of mind blowing burgers. I am normally let down when I order a burger in Canada --- Vancouver especially. Canadians struggle with cooking kickass burgers. I could go on and on about it , but I'll spare you the dramatics. I asked the lovely waitress about the burger and how I'd only order it if was cooked on the medium rare side. (How a burger should always be cooked ) She explained that there beef was sirloin ground And will have cooked medium rare for me!!! WHAT HAPPENED NEXT nearly knocked me off my stool!! Holy Sh*t !!!! This burger trumped any burger I've ever had and then some. Everything was perfect about it. The simple ingredients were placed with care and super fresh. The bun was toasted yet soft inside , the seasoning and love in the burger totally rocked. So everyone. Please try a burger or anything for that matter At the Belsize. Visited recently for a drink with some friends. We arrived about 10:30. The place was empty other then a few guys and staff drinking around the bar. The place had a horrible smell and is pretty dirty. Our table was made off distressed wood that had not been sealed properly and there is mold in the cracks (so gross). Went on a Thursday night. It was busy but not too loud. The service was good and attentive and the food was very yummy. Got the fish and chips and they were excellent - the fish wasn't too oily and the fries were perfect. Only complaint was the s'more pie was a little too rich and it was cold in a way that wasn't very pleasant. It was chilled the point of being tough to eat while the marshmallows were burnt, which wasn't a pleasant texture combo. It would have been far better if the pie crust and chocolate filling were warmed a bit instead of being hard and cold - everyone at the table who tried it agrees. Also: don't get one for yourself. Glad to have this place as our almost-local bar and restaurant. Not quite on our doorstep but certainly worth the walk. We've been here twice for dinner and left impressed both times. The food is great and the relaxed atmosphere means this is somewhere you can settle in and sample their wide selection of ales and beers. A pub set up with very good food. The specials change every week and we wish they'd keep them for longer! Their recent tuna salad and steak frites were excellent. Sadly they'd finished when we returned a week later! From the regular menu we enjoyed the salmon tacos, chicken pot pie and the creamy croquettes. As others have said the chicken wings are big and meaty and a must-try (if feeling naughty). The staff here are relaxed and friendly. I'm not expecting 5 star service in this environment and price range but they've been good in recommended food and beers - and rarely wrong! Fairly new in our area and had the potential to be our local go-to. But after visiting last week, I've got mixed reviews. Having arrived early for lunch (12pm) on a weekday it felt very warm, welcoming and cozy. Menu has is diverse and would be appeal to many palates and tastes. I opted for the cobb salad and my guest had the steak sandwhich special with salad. Both were enjoyable and large portions. Service was friendly and attentive. My only complaints are that, after 45 minutes the place packed up and it was very loud and felt cramped. And, while I enjoyed the salad, I had an upset stomach for hours afterward. I came into the Belsize on a Tuesday evening with a couple friends and I absolutely LOVED the spot. We live just down the street and we are already planning our trip back. The Belsize is just down the street from my workplace. I have been going more or less once a week since they opened in June. I like the decor, the staff and the menu. They have a tidy selection of craft beers to choose from, as well as a similarly tidy selection of wines. The menu keeps being refined, and the food seems to be getting better each week. In the last 10 days I've had a gaspacho that was superb, a couple of great salads, and today their chicken wings, which were some of the best I've ever had. These are not your "wing night" kind of wings, but big, meaty wings done in a buttermilk sauce. Came with a maple BBQ glaze, they could hardly have been better. You should also try the smoked trout nicoise. The smoked trout is local, delicate, and amazing. Real good patio space. I'm really glad to have this great place nearby for lunch. I have yet to stop by for dinner. I think it would also be a great place to stop for beers after work. read more

This English pub is located conveniently midtown. The ambiance is cute, and the wait staff are very friendly. The food was delicious, although pepper seemed to be the main spice in all of my food.
