    Burger and fries
    Andrei A.

SERVICE: 5/5 No complaints. Our server was very attentive and courteous. FOOD: 3/5 I was disappointed in the quality of my burger. The patty was somewhat dry and lacked in flavour. Cheddar cheese should not be on the burger, to begin with. It's gross. Mozzarella or Swiss is the way to go. The buns were good though. The fries were very good too. Not sure why coleslaw wasn't creamy like at most other places. I didn't like their coleslaw. It tasted as if it came from a store-bought jar. It wasn't homemade. Mind you, my experience is limited by one visit. Perhaps, their calamari and "chips and fish" are to die for. I don't know. So far, I'm giving them 3/5 stars. If my experience proves to be different next time, I will consider upgrading my rating.

I live fairly near to the Belsize Public House and yet this was somehow only my first visit to the place. And if the calibre of the food I ate is any indication, I'll definitely have to make this joint a regular haunt. We arrived around lunchtime on a Monday and the place was sparsely populated. I gave the menu a quick scan and almost immediately landed on the Jerk Pork Sandwich ("scotch bonnet aioli, fresh mango, coleslaw & tomatoes in a pita, served with fries & curried chickpeas"). It arrived about 20 minutes later and I have to admit it's much, much better than I was expecting. I've grown a little weary of anything with jerk seasoning as of late, given that every time I seem to order it, the dish is bland and, worse still, hardly spicy at all. That was definitely not the case here. The intimidatingly large concoction is full of well-spiced and flavorful pieces of pork, and the heat-level is, much to my delight, definitely higher than I was expecting. The mango, coleslaw, and tomatoes all work perfectly in the sandwich, while the pita tasted fresh and actually held up well to the various ingredients contained within (which is itself no small feat). My one complaint would be that certain pieces of pork were a little chewy and overly fatty. With a sandwich like this, one wants unctuously soft chunks of meat and that was unfortunately not quite the case here. As for the fries, they were outstanding, and the curried chickpeas, though not entirely necessary, were also quite good.

Myself and a couple of co-workers popped in for lunch and to say that we were disappointed is an understatement....the food was mediocre at best...they claim that the wings are made in-house and hand breaded etc, etc, however that is not the case, they clearly look and taste like something out of a presidents choice box...they were dry, hard, chewy and look like day old wings. In addition to this, my celery was black and bruised, wish I got a better picture. My colleagues got the jerk pork sandwich, which was dry and lacking true jerk flavour and the fish and chips which were actually pretty good. I guess 1 out of 3 is not bad, the service was good but I will not be returning.

Cozy and comfy- the staff were very knowledgeable and there was great service. We mentioned that it our cousin's bday- and they brought him a slice of cake to celebrate. The buttermilk wings were done really well and their burgers were good. It is a cross of pub food and gourmet, I liked it.

Was in the area and just needed some lunch. I can't even begin to describe how much I like this meal. The salad was amazing, beautyofully dressed with great toppings and the mac and xh3ese was creamy and baked to perfection. What a great low key and cozy spot! Definitely will come back and bring friends.

Opens late. Food comes in hot and fresh. Loved their special butternut soup and fried chicken burger. It's massive and delicious. Large selection of alcohol on tap. Patio is really nice here

Fantastic Portobello and goat cheese concoction on focaccia...really nice surprise and so were the fries. Nice selection of wine-by-the-glass. Super-friendly service! Terrace with/without sun. My only issue was the wine was not served cold enough...but they kindly tried to fix that. Since adding ice to a good Sauvignon Blanc is an act of pure insanity, keeping bottles on ice would solve issue if fridge is off.

On a Sunday evening, it was quiet and intimate. Our server, whose name I did not learn, was excellent: kind and willing to make recommendations. Union Social has an excellent menu, with lots of diversity to cater to all palates, but not so many items as to be overwhelming for either staff or customers. We started off with cocktails, and my son's Citrus Mule -served according to tradition, in a copper mug - was so tasty. I enjoyed my Smoky Apple Old Fashion so much. It is worth coming here for a cocktail alone. Now, on to the mains (we skipped the appetizers, but the shrimp tacos did look tempting). I explained to our server that I was torn between the Smokehouse Beef Burger (which I regretted not ordering on a previous visit) and the Spaghetti Positano, a seafood pasta finished with lemon-herb breadcrumbs. She enthusiastically and energetically recommended the pasta (I love it when they actually give a recommendation, as opposed to, "Well, it depends what you want"). I was not disappointed! The seafood spaghetti was terrific! Surprisingly, the breadcrumbs more than compensated for a sprinkling of parmesan. I savoured the leftovers the next day, and I'm still thinking about it. The other diners, who ordered Cobb Salad, the Chicken Sandwich Special, and the Tuna Bow, were similarly satisfied. Apparently, the Steak Frites and the Fish and Chips were outstanding, as was my Pasta Positano (especially for garlic lovers!). A few other diners ordered dessert: they each had creme brulee, smoking hot from being freshly torched. The surface featured that perfectly glossy, lightly burned sugar, which always reminds me of a caramel-colored skating rink. The dessert was, according to my daughter, who is a connoisseur of creme brulee, was perfectly done. To finish off, my son (don't worry, he's an adult) had an espresso martini. I had a sip, and I can totally vouch for it being so divine! We had a very satisfying meal, and I'd only wish that I knew my server's name so that I could acknowledge how excellent she was. I'll be back. I keep planning for the burger, but right now, I could sure go for another helping of Spaghetti Positano!

The staff were super friendly and built a really good rapport with everyone. Honestly, I'd go back just for how great the team was. Now for the drinks and food: I ordered an espresso martini. This was my first one ever, and not gonna lie, I was a little disappointed (I've had way better ones since). For the food, the poutine was fire and the tacos were really good, too. Everyone at the table enjoyed their dishes, but let's be real... it wasn't the best meal ever. The food was definitely mid, but still solid. Overall: Amazing service and great atmosphere make this place worth checking out.

I first visited Granite back in in 2007 when I met the Founder and Owner of the Brewery, Ron Keefe at a beer sampling and learning Event with a beer lovers social Group I used to help Organize. Since then I've been to Granite many times for various other Events with the beer lovers Group and other social Groups I've been a Member of, including their Sunday Buffet Brunch which I believe they no longer have. I've always had a quite enjoyable time there as the venue is quite spacious overall and their back patio (they have a front patio too) is quite nice, spacious and covered in case of inclement weather. The Brewery's beer selection has always been quite solid with a variety of offerings featuring many different styles and flavours. Other than brunch - which has always been quite good - I don't believe I've had any other meals/food there. I plan to continue visiting for their annual beer fests as the 3 I've been to were all very enjoyable.

The fine-dining restaurant is hidden inside a condo building with no signage. Valet parking is complimentary where there is no other parking available on site. Reservations are highly recommended as this is not a place where you'll likely get a table if you walk in. Usually this is a place for special occasions with family, friends, or your partner. My party of 9 (as per our request we sat in 2 different tables) dined at Scaramouche on a Friday night. Our tables had the same waiter and the restaurant was half full of customers when we arrived. We didn't get a table with the view of the city skyline but staff were nice enough to let us go on the terrace to take photos after our meal. The menu is divided into appetizers, pastas, and main dishes. All the pastas can be made into an appetizer portion. There were also some specials - a lobster bisque and a lamb main dish. Food wise, these were the items I tried during my dinner there (other members of my party ordered different things but I did not try them): - Tempura zucchini blossoms (shaved zucchini, stracciatella, arugula, cherry tomato pistou, salsa verde, and fine olive oil) - $23 - Terrine of foie gras (riesling jelly, quick pickled cherries, triple crunch mustard, toasted hazelnuts, sour cherry glaze, sea salt broiche) - $34 - Romaine hearts (caesar dressing, chopped egg, Parmesan, and toasted bread crumbs) - $19 - Filet Mignon (whipped potatoes, green beans, mixed mushrooms, red wine jus) - $65 - Sea scallops (edamame, celtuce, snap peas, pickled honey mushrooms, cherry tomato, ginger gremolata, lime leaf butter sauce) - - $54 - Brown butter walnut tart (maple ice cream candied walnuts, and maple caramel sauce) - $15 - Lemon madeleine cake (blueberry compote, lemon curd, yogurt sherbet, and vanilla crumble) - $15 - Dark chocolate mousse (cocoa nib crumble, coffee sherbet, chocolate sauce, and caramel foam) - $15 - Coconut cream pie (coconut custard, chantilly cream, white chocolate shavings and dark chocolate sauce) - $15 - Ontario strawberries (white chocolate vanilla cremeux, crispy shortbread, riesling elderflower jelly, strawberry puree, and small meringues) - $15 In terms of appetizers, the tempura zucchini blossoms were the perfect crunch, paired well with the creamy stracciatella cheese. The cherry tomatoes and salsa verde brought a fresh and light element to the dish, making it perfect for the summer. The terrine of foie gras was rich and delicious. The condiments on the side (the riesling jelly, pickled cherries, etc.) complemented the terrine well to make it less heavy. We didn't get broiche as indicated on the menu but a few small toasts. Wish we just had a few more pieces of bread though! The caesar was fresh was delicious as well. For the mains, my four scallops were cooked perfectly - translucent in the middle. All the ingredients in the dish made it so fresh and light - the perfect summer dish. I had a piece of filet mignon from my partner. His beef was cooked well to his liking...however, someone at my table had to send back her beef back as it was cooked too well done. The waiter apologized where the kitchen made her another filet mignon (although she had to wait a bit). The waiter told us later that one of our desserts would be taken off the bill to make up for the poor cook on the filet mignon. Desserts wise, we had 5 people at our table so we decided to get all 5 desserts to share. We celebrated 2 people's birthdays and staff were kind enough to write "Happy Birthday" on the plates as well as add a small candle. Desserts were good but nothing mindblowing. The restaurant is known for their coconut cream pie where there was so much coconut in each bite. Service wise, our waiter was friendly, attentive, personable, and a bit quirky. He made sure to have our waters refilled where we never had an empty glass at our table. Our napkins were also folded back when we left to use the restroom. He also apologized several times when the cook of the filet mignon was not correct for one of the members of our table. He also cleaned the crumbs off the table when we were changing courses. Overall, he did a good job of serving us that night. Overall, Scaramouche serves up quality food in an intimate setting with the view of the Toronto skyline. The food is made well and the service is what you'd expect from a fine-dining restaurant. This is definitely a place to celebrate a special occasion with family, friends, or your partner!

There were just two servers working on the upper level and they were absolutely slammed. They told us to go to the bar to get our food orders, which took forever - obviously because it was such a packed night for them. We ordered a few drinks, and some apps. The food was pretty generic bar stuff - jalapeno poppers, fries, etc. Portions were perfect to be shared with friends on a game nights. I'd definitely consider coming to Kramer's for big games, as long as they replace the projector on the second floor.
