Dined here around 5pm on a Friday. Party of 8. Happy hour specials were good for drinks and apps. But a domestic tap that I ordered was skunky and flat tasting. Once we placed our dinner order we waited about 35 minutes for it to come to the table. Waitress was friendly but appeared as though she didn't want to be there. Waitstaff should be knowledgeable as to what the soup of the day is. She said she wasn't totally sure but thought it was a spicy tomato bisque. In my opinion if you're not sure 100% on an item and a patron is potentially interested in ordering, you should take the initiative to find out the facts. I should not have to ask you to find out. Tomato bisque sounded good so I ordered the soup and when got it it was a beef broth based with vegetables. One in our party ordered the fish and chips and for a kid who will eat almost anything, he did not care for it. Fish tasted mushy, almost as if it was like a minched fish. Another ordered the baked fish, but no drawn butter was with it. Most everyone's food came out warm. I'm guessing it was sitting for awhile before it was brought out. Our appetizers were the best tasting thing we all had, that was the general consensus. As is with many dining experiences these days, staffing seemed light. Becky you were so kind and lovely . She was a a rock star since we had a large 10 top including 4 kiddos and a baby . But the kitchen and bar dropped the ball . We all ordered two rounds of drinks for the adults so 6 of us.. we ordered two Mules which came in plastic cups and my father in law ordered a beer which came in a plastic cup .. we were told "bar ran out of cups and working on getting more out .." we were shocked since things weren't even that "crazy yet" and a bar should be fully stocked and dishwashers should be on task . We all ordered our meals , which the kids coconut shrimp was heavily burnt but was still brought out to us which I was confused since if it's not correct looking why bring it out ? , we ordered a refire and it was better. My two kids had mini corn dogs which were perfect for them and cooked well My big fat Greek salad with chicken which was the last entree to come out oddly and had half a chicken breast that was very very over cooked . The salad with salmon was prepared well and cooked well Cajun perch was crispy and well battered Pb sauce and Jamaican jerk wings were wonderful my father in law said Quinoa tacos had randomly changed that day , since the quinoa was randomly on the bottom a small scoop and many many chopped up carrot Pieces our server had no idea of this change and let us know she "thought it looked different " but once again never asked or checked . My mother in law ordered a martini it was on the special cocktail list but instead of our sever asking what kind of vodka she wanted so she said she "made the executive decision and put Tito's in it " my mother in law hates Tito's .. it was rough but food was still ok After five years of running this place is still a hot mess at times . I will definitely try them again since every place has an off day . Overall look of the environment was clean , bathrooms very neat and tidy minus the baby changing station is broken, the clip is broken and the table won't go back up . The atmosphere when you first enter the restaurant is nice with the arcade right there. With the seating, you sit have the option to sit at the tables near the windows or the booths that were in the back, which we didn't realize were there until we looked around. We decided to sit at a table and was directed to a spot out of place and was in the middle near the bar. As for the food, we got fish and chips and a totally tot pizza. The wait time was longer than expected as there weren't a lot of people in the restaurant. The fish and chips were enjoyable, but with the presentation of the tartar sauce and coleslaw being in plastic sauce cups, it didn't seem appealing, and at first glance, they both looked like sauces. The totally tot pizza was not as expected. We were looking forward to the pizza having more tots on it, and how the cream cheese was presented was also not appealing as it wasn't on all of the slices. read more

I went to wow on 8/30. we were seated very quickly. that is a positive. Our server never introduced her self so i'm not able to make a complaint on her ( she was abut 5'7 skinny with black hair and glasses )we waited an hour and 45 minutes for our food. they were an average amount of busy but no where near packed. during this wait we drank our waters the first 30 minutes. Then we had to wait the next hour and 15 minutes to even get noticed to get some water. Our waiter kept walking past us very quickly with her head down while she was serving her 2 other tables ( this happened many times). during this time she never checked in on us once nor looked in our direction. When we received our food I noticed my order was wrong and they gave my chicken with my order. I complained but I told my server I was not going to pay the extra money for the item I did not ask for. Thankfully I am not allergic or vegetarian to this item. all of our food was cold besides the soup. it was pretty good but not work the trouble. I tip on service so she did not receive a tip. I don't recommend going here due to my experience but maybe other servers are a lot better ! read more

I visited WOW for a group lunch and everyone else seemed happy with it so I think my low review is unfortunately due to my poor food choice. So I'll warn you: don't get the black bean burger!! WOW is a warehouse sized arcade and laser tag place. There is a very large dining area and bar, and outdoor seating available facing the river. If you are a parent, this is the perfect place to drop your kids off at the arcade while you belly up to the bar. If you do not fall in that demographic, this place lacks appeal. I've visited twice so far, and on my second visit, we attempted to obtain a table for 6. We were still waiting on half of our group, and we were told that on "busy nights," they did not seat groups unless everyone was present. That was fine, and we sat at the bar, but there were tons of open tables despite it being a "busy" night. It was a shame because we never were seated. The hostess did acknowledge this and apologize, but we were not moved from our seats at the bar to a real table once our entire group arrived. At that point, we were already finished eating. I ordered the "street tacos." My meal was served lukewarm, and accompanied by a very strange elote-inspired corn dish. The meal was edible, but nothing I would come back for. Another person in our group ordered a chicken panini, and it was not good at all. He could barely eat half. Again, if you have children and need a place to accommodate their entertainment needs, this is a perfectly reasonable option. Wausau on Water or WoW is great in that it has brought something to the Wausau area, a kid's arcade area and laser tag course, that we didn't really have prior. The arcade is fun and my daughter enjoys playing the games. There could be more games but the selection is good and most of the games cater to a large range of ages. The location is pretty as well. In regards to the restaurant area of WoW, our experience has not been the best. The food was mediocre at best. It left much to be desired and the prices did not justify the quality we had. We decided to give the restaurant another try for to a rehearsal dinner and the group ordered multiple pizzas to be split amongst the wedding party. The pizzas were pretty good. The Taco pizza was the overwhelming favorite amongst the group. It's hard to say if we will be back to the restaurant within WoW again but the bar, arcade, and laser tag course have promise. read more

This past weekend we went to WOW for the first time with 8 family & friends. It was excellent!!! The gaming area is very cool. The old bar from Lambeau Field is awesome. The view is outstanding like you're sitting right on the river. I can't wait until the weather was up a bit and the patio is open. It's gonna be a great place to sit and enjoy a sunset cocktail or three. I didn't realize they had three party rooms for birthdays etc. We'll definitely be utilizing those soon. This is a very nice establishment on the River Walk for drinks and food and gaming for the young at heart. Outside they have a patio with a fireplace, tables, chairs and umbrellas. They offer a wide variety of food items from appetizers, to pizza and fully plated dinners. We had just attended a retirement party on Friday evening at W.O.W. They have an enclosed room off the bar which was great for events. Catered everything (food & beer), all which was extremely good. Visited WOW and was impressed! We visited without children so our first trip was to the bar. Our bartender, Sheila, was incredibly attentive and super friendly. She was knowledgable about the menu and made recommendations that turned out to be excellent. We had the chicken, bacon, ranch pizza.. It was frickin awesome! Thin crust was on point. I really like the idea of building up the waterside with restaurants and entertainment. I have seen this trend in larger cities and it is always well received. I hope that we see more along the waterside in the coming years. I went to WOW and I like the concept. It has large and casual dining area that faces the water. There is a game area inlines with a scaled back Dave n Busters, but I can see it as a draw for people with kids. I am also aware of a laser tag, but did not investigate. The Good: The bar was large and had ample varieties of beer on tap. Lots of seating in the dining area and the parking lot was easily accessible with what appears to be ample parking. The atmosphere in the dining area is casual and with great views of the water. The Not-So Good: Thee beer comes in 12 and 16 oz. I would have liked and 20-22oz option. The food was okay, but a bit bland and felt very much like microwave variety. I had hoped for better but was very underwhelmed by the food. Overall: I will give it another chance or two as it is a new place and maybe they have yet to work out all the kinks. Plus I like the concept. Went on a Friday night for fish and split the walleye and Cajun perch with sweet potato fries. They were both amazing! The first time I went the cheese carrots were perfectly cooked and not greasy at all, the second time I went the cheese curds were extremely greasy. I had stated to multiple people that they may have been the best cheese curds I've ever had, Saying a lot from a person from Wisconsin. But the second time definitely disappointed! The second time I went I also had the fried whitefish which was not up to my expectations after having the perch and walleye. I had the black bean burger with a side salad. The burger was a well made patty, but a pretty standard burger. They have a good assortment of games but some cost more then a dollar worth in points to play. My kids emptied their cards with 100+ points on it in less then 30 minutes so I wish the games cost less in terms of points. The food is overpriced for what it is. It wasn't bad but it wasn't worth the price they were asking for it. The bar and arcade area were both a little dirty, in example there was food on the ground and grated onto the carpet, candy wrappers on the ground. No flavor and undercooked. The nachos lacked toppings. Just a bunch of melted cheese mixed with nacho cheese, a dollop of sour cream and some store bought guacamole. I ordered the wow burger with Cajun fries. I give it a 3/10. My husband ordered the brisket Mac and cheese sandwich. He took two bites and that was it. We will never be back here. I've been to this restaurant twice now. The first time was frustrating but didn't think much of it. The second time (today) was even more frustrating however. Was told it'll be about 15-20 minutes for a table. After waiting 35 minutes and watching two other groups come in AND be seated before us I went back to the counter and suddenly a table was ready. We were asked btw if we wanted to sit inside or outside and I said whichever was faster. When I mentioned my frustrations I was told the reason they were seated first is because they were willing to sit inside. Again... I said I would sit wherever was quickest. Anyway, I waited 35 minutes which would have been fine had they not seen me standing just 10 feet away and still seating everyone else first. I decided to speak with the manager because I thought this could be a good training opportunity but as I was speaking to him he was flippant and extremely rude. Up until his visit to the table, we were frustrated but somewhat understanding because we know that many are short staffed and maybe employees weren't being trained properly...BUT the absolutely unprofessional treatment by the manager caused so much frustration that we all decided it was best to leave. I'll say this. The food is fine but that doesn't mean anything when the service is bad. Also... If you're going to have people waiting that long while tables are empty, you might want to provide seating for those who don't want to play games or maybe consider seating them at the bar or a table and explain that it may be a while before the server arrives. read more

We have been to Wausau on the Water many times and always have a great experience. This time was exceptional. Our waitress Brenda was helpful, friendly and accommodating. We sat out on the patio and enjoyed a beautiful sunny afternoon. We enjoyed a few cocktails before dinner with no pressure from Brenda to order food right away. Our food was amazing. My wife ordered the Catalina Chicken and enjoyed it immensely. I had the Fresh Catch Fish Sandwich and it ranked with the best fish sandwich I ever have had.
