I asked the woman responsible for private lessons if she would be able to help connect me with a teacher to give my child private lessons. I'm disappointed that no one from wave contacted me like I was told would happen concerning the private lessons. I even offered to email as a reminder but the woman who runs private lessons said it was wasn't necessary and said she would call me after the 4th of July weekend. It's August 21st and I've yet to receive a phone call. It's apparent these people don't care about the children and are unprofessional. My daughter's been there going for 2-3 years now. The reason for this low review is the lack of transparency with their classes. Like I said, my daughter's been going there for awhile now. I ask her what it'll take or how long to move up classes, she didn't know. When she asked her teachers, she gets different responses depending on who is asked. And if she asks "what level is she" with a particular girl, they'll say they're not allowed to disclose that. Didn't know asking how to advance was a confidential thing. Only reason we continue is because she enjoys the activity, but there's no structure or anything structured in terms of advancement. read more

Our daughter initially started out at one of the larger gyms in the area, but once we checked out Wave, we immediately switched over. The gym is always so clean and has great air circulation. My daughter has been at Wave since 2018. She started out with regular weekly classes and moved up to team after a year. We have now competed on team for the past five years. Wave is a wonderful safe space for kids to learn gymnastics. Coaches are caring and have many years of gymnastics experience prior to working with the gymnasts. Tina and Angie are the ladies who own and manage the gym. These ladies are honest, caring and give 100% to all of the gymnasts. What I love most about this gym is it really up to the gymnast on how far they go. Wave offers recreational gymnastics for fun and competitive gymnastics if that is what your child wants to pursue. I have watched my daughter grow over the past five years in confidence, skill, and determination. My daughter is the girl she is due to participation in gymnastics. Here is the thing - I have been here with my daughter for a year and our experience hasn't been bad but it hasn't been good. It's more of 'fun' thing than a competitive thing for my daughter so we kept coming, she liked the kids in her class and had a pretty good time . Occasionally, my daughter would share some comments the coaches and owners would make to her - and they weren't terrible but definitely not appropriate for adults to say to kids. I began looking for another gym that would be a more supportive environment since my kiddo wanted to get more serious into gymnastics and didn't feel encouraged or supported here. Other gyms cap their class sizes to a much smaller class - the last class I counted 19 girls in her class. That is too big, with too big of an age spread for the kids to be in the same class. Add all of that to the constant changing of coaches, it was getting to be more than we wanted to deal with. I called to discuss some of my concerns with the gym and the woman on the phone was incredibly rude, she was dismissive, unprofessional and over all a little wonky. I hung up with her and said 'wow, so rude.' And my daughter goes 'Oh, that must have been xxxx, she can be really sassy with us.' It was at that point I knew that it was 100% time to leave. We have gone to different gyms and it has been a breath of fresh air for my daughter - I have never seen her leave Wave so happy and encouraged. I wish we made the choice to leave sooner. To add insult to injury the last class she had, she overheard the owner taking poorly about her to another coach in front of all the kids. Super bummed that is how we are leaving things. I wasn't going to even leave a review, sometimes it's just not a good fit and that's okay but that last experience was the straw that broke the camels back. Tons of kids come here and have a great time, but our experience wasn't the best and I am just sharing so someone else can make an informed decision. We were here for a year before making the choice to move on so it isn't all bad but I still wouldn't recommend this for 'fun.' I don't have any experience on the competitive side or if this conduct is acceptable in that world. read more

This gym is not a good place to invest your time, money or energy. My daughter was here for nearly two years on team and had to leave because the coaches focus on two or three girls on team, ignore and mistreat the other girls, and then blame children for not getting new skills they refuse to teach. My daughter's gym skills decreased because they do not have training or knowledge about coaching. They hire moms and young exhausted gymnasts who do not like kids. They use harsh discipline and harm young girls self esteem about their body, mind and spirit. It feels like stepping back into the 1980s. They smile and act nice, to parents but they are cruel to children and proud of it. You will regret taking your child here. There are so many gyms with great coaches and professional leadership. Look elsewhere. When I shared my concerns my daughter was blamed and they asked for more money for privates. They are notorious for their expensive cash only privates. It's a pyramid scheme. They only have one or two girls that they can focus on. You can do better at any other gym. After leaving in one week at another gym my daughter got two skills she was stuck on at this gym. It's because the coaches are immature and take their sorrows out on your kids, give up on their team and tell your kid they are not good enough. Please do not support this business and protect your kids. read more

My daughter has been tumbling here for about 2 years. Previously she was another large gym in the area but we weren't a fan of the large class sizes and rotating coaches. At Wave the classes are much smaller which allows the kids to get more individualized attention. The only drawback is that the class my daughter takes is only offered one day a week at one specific time. This has caused us to juggle schedules around a bit but we think it's worth it because my daughter loves the class. The staff has always been friendly and approachable. read more

My daughter was looking to improve her tumbling skills so being fairly new to the area, I contacted several facilities in Orange County. Wave Gymnastics outshined every other gym with their prompt and cheerful response. I talked to Coach/Co-Owner Angie and could tell she was geniuinely interested in helping my daughter improve her skills and confidence.
