I had a very disappointing experience with the owner of Carlsbad Electric…read more The initial call was to diagnose and fix a faulty GFCI. During the visit, the outlet box/cover was damaged, and I was told it would require an additional charge and return trip to replace it, costing hundreds of dollars. Prior to starting on that issue, I asked about a problem with our low-voltage landscape lighting. Within the first moments of troubleshooting, wiring was cut in two locations, the issue remained unresolved, and the wires were left exposed, which I had to repair myself. Ultimately, the GFCI issue was traced to two GFCIs on the same circuit (from a prior homeowner), but this was only determined after the visit. The total bill exceeded $400 for less than an hour of work and a single GFCI/outlet that likely cost less than $25. Based on the overall experience--damage during service, unresolved issues, and pricing--I would not recommend. Update: The owner responded stating multiple hours were spent, that all issues were resolved, and that additional work was performed at no charge. My review reflects the final outcome, including the cause of the issue and the total cost. My comments are not meant to be personal, just an accurate account of my experience so others can make informed decisions.

Throughout the entire process, his communication was excellent. He was friendly, professional, and took the time to explain what was going on. It's hard to find contractors who are this responsive and reliable these days. If you're looking for an honest, knowledgeable electrician who truly cares about his customers, I highly recommend Romo. I wouldn't hesitate to use him again and would absolutely recommend him to anyone in San Diego County.

His bank kept rejecting my payments and I ended up having to pay his wife's zelle account (??)  Long version: Romo took almost 2 months to complete my project of replacing the subpanel, adding a 20 amp circuit, and repairing any damaged drywall. He and his team cancelled/ no showed on my tenant more than 5 times and was super unresponsive when scheduling. My tenant had to live in a home with holes in the walls for almost a full month before it was finally repaired. The business operates very shadily. I have asked for a receipt for my payment numerous times, and he still has not provided one. I had to pay him in 3 separate transactions via zelle because his bank kept rejecting my payments. I'm not sure how this business has a 4.8 rating on Yelp, but will not be trusting those reviews from now on.

The first time was a several years ago when I called to ask if he could replace a wired smoke detector in my hallway. He convinced that it was easy to do and that I could do it myself, and sure enough, it was easy to do and I did it myself, and I was amazed at how it worked out. Today, I called because I have some outlets in my house that were not working. He immediately diagnosed the issue over the phone, and he directed me out to the garage to find an outlet with two buttons, and asked me to FaceTime and reverse the camera and show him the outlet, and then he asked me to press the top button and listen for a click. So I pressed the top button and heard the click and he told me the problem was solved. I go check the outlets in the house and guess what? They are all working again!!!! Absolutely incredible. Thank you, Mr. Able, for the great help, and for your willingness to save your customers time and money by helping them out with simple issues like this over the phone. You are one in a million. Thank you!!!
