I took the plunge and made an appointment on the Bugsy app which is very easy to use to make appointments. The day of my appointment I arrived and didn't have to wait that long. While I waited I checked out the decor. It is modern with soft colors of gray, not shiny. Some quotes are posted on the walls with a touch of nostalgia there's an old-fashioned barbershop pole, like this one This barbershop reflects good taste, excellent taste in its decor. I like Etrendz. It is an excellent barbershop. There are many barbershops in the community but this one has ambiance. I highly recommend it‼

New to the neighborhood and did a Google and Yelp search to find Barbers nearby. These fellas were within walking distance and I had an event to attend, so I called to see if they took walk-in's. They did, so I went up the block. Yo!! Glad I did!! They welcomed me with the coolest vibe, Latin beats on the Spotify, and my man Miguel Style was free for me to sit in his seat. Look...by the time he was done, had a Brotha fit for the street and at peace. With the best rates I have seen to DATE, you know I took care of my man financially as a Thank you for such good work, kindness, and care and precision shown. A whole month later, in preparation for a photoshoot, took another trip up the block and my man Miguel welcomed me again with a smile, a Brotha fist bump and hug, and another seat in the chair. He cleaned that kitchen RIGHT on a 1 setting blade, back and sides, pulled out the straight razor and trimmed and shaped my stache, eye brows, and finished it all off with aromatherapy balm and the hot towels. Came in Hot with the Spa treatment and I felt BLESSED! Man...I left there feeling like a King AGAIN, took care of my man financially, and rested assured they'd just won a loyal customer for life. So to find a competent, caring and qualified barber was important to me. After searching online for a few days, visiting websites and reading reviews I found Don Nikos Barbershop. The images of cuts, lineups and fades on Yelp and Instagram got me to think that this might be the place I should go to. From entering the shop on my first visit I felt welcome. The shop has a chill vibe, is brightly lit and everyone is welcoming. I got hooked up with an awesome barber who goes by the name Shampoo. Lowkey he is a gentle giant, standing like 6'2 or something, but very patient and soft spoken. He consulted with me before starting to cut, and then would stop and check-in with me throughout the cut to make sure that the line and fade he was sculpting was what I had in my mind's eye. Most importantly for me is that he was not aggressive with his trimmers or the razor blade. I have highly sensitive skin and have had (what looks like) claw marks on the back of my neck for days after visiting some barbers in Boston. These marks not only burn like crazy, but look unprofessional. Shampoo gently lets the razon do the work and does not scrape the neck line. I've sat in his chair a few times now and I always leave with a great cut. I could not be more pleased with the level of service and care I get from Don Nikos crew.

It was my first time here, walking in I noticed Steven had a beard so I figured he would be my best shot. Steven seems like a very nice guy, and if I were rating personality and likeability I would probably give him 5 stars. Unfortunately, I have to consider all factors here, so I will break it all down for you: PROs: + Nice guy + Nice clean looking shop + Seems to be a neighborhood staple for many locals + Very much like the movie Barber Shop with a bunch of guys sitting around drinking and BS'ing for who-knows-how-many-hours and getting into arguments over music, women, food, etc + Lined me up well + Cheap CONs: - I don't know if all of them do, but Steven apparently has some kind of industrial heat gun that *literally* evaporates water instantaneously; unfortunately this also gave me actual first-degree burns all along my neck (he used it on my beard... many times). You can actually watch within 1 second the water turning to steam and dissipating. It is just too freaking powerful and unnecessary - He accidentally stabbed me with the scissors. Accidents happen, so I can forgive this and would have put in the neutral section but I believe it was because he was paying attention to a conversation he was having with someone else - He lined me up north of my chin line but did not shave my neck which I thought was odd and did not notice until I got home and did it myself NEURTRAL: -/+ Loud music, I don't mind but some may -/+ The guys who are hanging out here (including staff) use profane, often degrading music toward women, and pretty much everything else. However they are courteous. They just seem to be BS'ing but it does not create a very family-oriented environment I probably would not come here again, unless I REALLY, REALLY needed a cut ASAP and was NOT having them touch my beard. Skip it if at all possible is my best advice to you, friends. And I feel bad saying that because they seem really nice and it does seem like a "guy's hangout" kind of place.

I came in today to get my hair braided for a wedding. I'll be coming in plenty of other times because of how great this place is. If you want your hair braided, I highly suggest getting it done with Dominic Frenza. Her magical fingers can make any look you want come true. I recommend coming with an example or explanation of what you want beforehand, making the process much faster. If you want your head shaved, this a perfect place to come to as well. Amazingly, their prices aren't skyrocketed like others. Make sure you bring cash, there's no apple pay or availability to pay with your credit card. There's also a bathroom if you need to go. I also suggest bringing your own hair extensions so if you want your braids to look fuller and better. If you forget, don't worry. There's a beauty supply on the corner.
