They still make great hoagies but their system has been extremely upgraded. The sandwiches are worth gong out of your way for them. Ever since moving here from Orlando, I have been waiting for a Wawa to open in Jacksonville! The super sweet 24 hour gas station sets itself apart by offering a plethora of fresh food items. In fact, the roots of this chain actually began as a cafe and sandwich shop, only having started to offer fuel along with tasty cafe items about 15 years ago. I was a little let down that you couldn't order at the pump like some of the other Wawa's I have been to but hey- talk about 1st world problems right? Perhaps they will add that feature later? In any case this place is friendly and well appointed anytime. They also offer free WiFi and They recycle !!!! I love supporting a business that is environmentally conscious. I love Wawa, but his location has quickly gone downhill, thanks to Shane and Penelope. Shane must be a pity hire because he has zero personality, and you have to beg him for a bag to put your goods in, and hen he holds it really far away and says "come get it," as if we are school kids playing her away. Penelope is older, less patient, and grumpy AF. Even her coworkers have said she is not very nice! She once announced to the entire line the contents of my order, and was not very helpful when my card wasn't being recognized by the machine. Management, get your act together and hire some friendlier people to interact with the customers at the registers! read more

First I just want to say service was 5. I really struggled ordering. They use a computer to show what the food is, how it looks. But I couldnt find an egg white veggie omelet or grits so one of the employees showed me how to do it. I took forever and I wouldn't go inform u are in rush. The omelet was ok, the veggies were the bed for part. I didn't really care for egg taste of the omelette. They also have packaged flood, fruit was good. read more

When my wife asked if I wanted to go to Jacksonville for the day I immediately said yes. All the better it was the day after the Birds beat the Jags, got to gear up for the occasion. Everything was as good as I remembered, got a roast beef hoagie with provolone and sweet peppers, it was amazing. Only regret is not bringing rolls home with me. I don't know what all the hype about Wawa is. It's nothing more than your basic gas station and convenient store as far as I can tell. There's also a food counter to get a freshly prepared sandwiches, soups, wraps and breakfast food. The usual racks full of chips, snacks, candies and more. Fountain drinks and coolers full of your favorite beverages, surely you'll find something to eat or drink. On this particular visit, I didn't find the checkout service all that stellar. I had to wait for a few co-workers to finish their personal conversation before ringing me up. Uggh! Then she couldn't figure out why I wasn't up for her small talk. I love Wawa's! I prefer this location over the others I've been to in Jacksonville/OP. It's always busy but I like that you can go to a gas station and get freshly made food. The milkshakes are wonderful. I've had the strawberry but my favorite is the CHOCOLATE Cookies & Cream! I like their kiask food ordering system so you can take as long as you need to to pretty much custom order your food w/o taking up time of a employee. read more

For my first visit to a Wawa I have to say I was underwhelmed...maybe the reports of aisle upon aisle of choices were exaggerated LOL but I was surprised at how small the inside really was... anyway I needed a snack so I ordered a Chicken Philly and was shocked to find that mushrooms are not an option! but it was ok the bread was pretty good and the Coke freestyle drink was only $0.99 :) and a Tasty Cake chocolate cookie bar finished off the meal and I was on my way! First, super cheap gas! This was one of my favorite convenience stores back in Virginia and I'm so excited they opened one in Jacksonville. They have a full deli counter all very reasonably priced, where you can get sandwiches wraps etc. they have breakfast sandwiches, donuts, and a great fresh coffee bar with all of the sugar sweetener and creamers you could want. The employees are super friendly and nice and very helpful. This will definitely be a new regular spot for me! Hot coffee, cheap gas and easy breakfast that's good.... I love Wawa's Cuban coffee. My son loves that they have a few different Hot Chocolate choices as well. Different Milks/ Flavored creamers and Silk Almond to add to your coffee. It's also affordable as well... they were running $1 any size coffee when they opened but now I paid less than $2 for large, so I am not complaining. You can also get a handcrafted beverage as well as sandwiches/ soups and bowls from the self serve kiosk on the cheap. I've also ALWAYS had super friendly service when I check out as well. My son also loves the fresh choices in the coolers as well as the pretzels/ snacks they have in the heated area (right by checkout) too. If you want to stick around, they have plenty of seating outside and the space is always clean. We found our love for Wawa down south and were super excited they brought them to Jacksonville. So, we are recent transplants from the North - and the North remembers. We are die hard Wawa fans - who doesn't love a hoagie with their ethanol?!? We were stupefied that there was no Wawa in Jacksonville. How did that happen? Who let that happen? It was like Wawa did a hurdle from north of Jacksonville to south - crazy. Now, the first Wawa in Jax is open and we are overwhelmed with emotion. Our first visit, of many, was yesterday. The place was busy as if they were giving something away, parking reminiscent of Black Friday. In addition, the gas was really cheap compared to other places - 3 to 4 cents cheaper, which is great for a miser like me. Who knew I really could have it all, but I digress. We walked in and this Wawa has one of the biggest food prep areas that I've ever seen. It reminded me of a new Sheetz in PA. From the deli meats to the cheesesteak, all the food looked fresh and the people working were pleasant considering all of the orders they were working through. Even with the steady steam of people flowing through the doors, the store was clean, which is sometimes hard to come by in a gas station. My girl ordered a custom turkey sub with pepper jack cheese and pepperoni on wheat. I ordered the Italian on white - I wasn't going to fake the funk to think wheat bread would haven't made a difference (love you babe). My sandwich was perfect, light on the oil and vinegar, as ordered. The bread had the right amount of toast as to not cut the gums. They forgot the pepper jack cheese on my girl's sandwich, which is why I gave them 4 stars instead of 5 - it's more like 4 and three-quarters - Star Search style, but they won't let me do that. Since Wawa was born in PA, I was hoping that they would have some PA brand chips, but I guess we have to take baby steps. We'll definitely be back to this place. read more

I was running low on gas and decided to stop by. I also heard from my mother that their mocha cappuccino was very good. Getting into the gas station was not as bad as I had thought it would be. Usually my drives to town center are chaotic and require a prayer before I start driving. Once I parked, my sister and I strolled on into the store and went straight to the coffee area. One of the workers assisted me in finding the drink I was looking for. Unfortunately I don't remember his name, he suggested his favorite and showed me the sample cups I could use to try the different flavors. While I was selecting my flavor of coffee, my sister and I was offered a sample of their salad. I passed, but my sister destroyed it. They have a good variety of coffee. In the cappuccino machine, there's vanilla and mocha, and they also have their hot chocolate in the same machine. Then there's their drip coffee with different roasts, such as Columbian and Cuban. It was a decent trip for gas and a decent cup of joe. Because of the customer service I received, I gave Wawa 5 stars. read more

Store is busy, clean and big! I tanked up and ran in to order some lunch for hubby and myself- naturally I couldn't decide... so I got a Philly Steak-n-cheese and a chicken quesadilla and a meatball sub for hubby. They have loyal customers that swear by everything this place stands for. Great gas prices, friendly service, and 24 hour sub sandwiches that you order via kiosk. I went into Wawa for the first time to buy a pack of cigarettes. they had Marlboro advertised at $5.46 a pack if you buy to packs. so I asked for a carton . it was $76 and the girl at the register said because "you did not have a Wawa rewards card" so I got a card and it came down to $73. Stiil not 5.46 and the girl said because "you're buying a carton not packs" . "well give 10 packs instead" and it still came up as $73. "That is because you bought 10 packs and not 2 ". " we'll give 2 packs". this time it came up to $13 for the 2 packs. " still not 5.46ea" I got sick and tired after the girl was very rude all the time. GREAT service. Foods are a bit salty and some are overwhelmingly salty ( hence 4 stars), but fresh. The Gobbler is back. This should be available all year. When line is long and I'm just trying to buy a fountain drink staff just tells me it's on them and have a great night. They must pay much better wages than competition because staff seems happy and attentive no matter what time of day. I stopped in to get some gas and check the place out, and was pleasantly surprised at the selection and variety offered, as I am not normally one to patronize food service from a gas station. Although I haven't frequented the establishment, I can say that my sandwich was good. I ordered a Cuban panini with a Strawberry Lemonade, and really enjoyed it. Very very very shitty customer service!! First I used the bathroom to change my sons diaper and it couldn't wait and my vehicle was not an option at the time, so I went in there and there was one tiny stall and a huge handicap bathroom but nowhere to change my baby! Are you kidding me? You are in the busiest part of town and you can't provide a sanitary clean changing table for me and other customers to change our babies? I had to emprovise in the bathroom! I know it gets busy in there but I am a customer every Sunday afternoon and the customer service sucks. I usually buy my lotto tickets at Gate gas station but this past Sunday I was making my trips count and doing everything in one store and at WaWas they don't do any lottery dealings at the front register, everything is done through a vending machine which I never have used and needed help, but the young punk at the register just kept pointing at the machine telling me to go use it, I ended up playing 5$ in quick picks and I was angry and went back to tell the dude I had personal numbers I wanted to play and he shrugged his shoulders and pointed at the machine again...WTH?! So I asked him where the manager was and he said somewhere over there and pointed towards the cooks in the middle of the store, so I asked one of the lady cooks that had a badge on that said "SUPERVISOR" I asked her where the manager was and she said to me "why? And then said I don't know she's probably over there!...I was pissed now!! I'll never visit again! WaWa is not that important and management should be shamed running that place into the ground just to make a dollar. read more

I've been to Wawa in central FL without issue, always friendly & clean. But the new location in the Towncenter, they seem to think they are better than others. Left work late and Wawa close to the office so thought I'd stop in and get some gas & a burger. Couldn't find any to grab so asked the girl if they had that and it was no. So being a gas station I asked about hot dogs to which I received a 'greater than thou' response with a laugh. "We are not 7-11". I'm sorry Wawa is just another corner gas station. I've never had quandaries with Wawa since they started popping up in FL but that remark makes me not want to visit Wawa for gas or anything else. Went to Wawa's to buy a snack and swiped my debit card and the guy said out loud "insufficient funds". Ummmmm....Oookaay. So I swiped it again. The cashier again said "insufficient funds" loud enough where I'm sure everyone within earshot heard it. How humiliating! So I paid cash. It turns out I have sufficient funds, but my bank blocked the charge because they weren't sure if the charge was valid. You might want to educate/train your cashiers to use a little more tact when coming across situations like this. How about instead of saying "insuffient funds" and basically humiliating a paying customer, why not just say "sorry the charge didn't go thru". And how about saying it in a lower tone too? There is absolutely no reason for other people in line to hear my business. You just lost a loyal customer. Never going back to Wawa's again! read more
