I have to start out by saying the Brussel sprouts we're probably the best I've ever had! Full of flavor, seasoned perfectly and crunchy! I want it an entire serving of that just for myself! The hamburger was OK not what I had hoped for especially given the price. I was hoping for something a little bit more fresh and not frozen but it was acceptable. This is one of my favorite happy hour places in Jax! The sliders are amazing and only $6 and some change during happy hour. Also, all cocktails are 50% for happy hour. Not to mention, they make some pretty good and strong margaritas! I ended up getting the sliders, fries and a margarita for about $18 before tip. I typically sit at the bar and service is always quick and friendly! This time, they had a margarita games promotion where the give free samples of their spicy pineapple and cucumber lime margarita flavors where you vote online and they send you a coupon for a free margarita (whichever flavor wins). We tried Hopdoddy for the first time and I was extremely impressed! It was probably the best burger I've ever had in my life! No joke! Pictured is the large fries which was more than enough for two of us and my boyfriend's burger called Roosevelt. I got the wagyu smash but was unable to take a pic because I ate it all within seconds! The burgers are juicy and freshly made, the buns were also one of the best parts of the burgers. This place is a bit in the pricier side. We got two burger, fries and two waters which came out to be $41. They have a full bar in the middle of the restaurant as well. The menu offers 12 different burgers, 2 fried chicken sandwiches, 3 bowls/salads, fries and Brussel sprouts. I went with the Goodnight/good cause burger. It had cheddar cheese, camelized onions, jalapeños, caffienated bbq, Mayo, lettuce and tomatoes on it. It was a little messy but tasted pretty good. My husband had the classic burger with cheese, mayo, lettuce, tomatoes, and onions. We also got an order of shareable sweet potato fries. It was a good size order and tasted great. Hopdoddy Burger Bar had great food, but felt a little chaotic to me. As you walk in, you grab a menu and order at the counter. They give you a table number and let you fill your own drink drinks. They walk food out to you as it's prepared, so fries and burgers come separate. The chaos might've been timing based on my arrival for dinner, but it felt like there were people everywhere, lol. I ordered my food and sat down and realized I did not order a drink at the bar... since I was feeling a little lazy I ended up just sticking with water. My protein bowl was awful, $14.95 for a big bowl of items swimming in dressing that tasted like 1000 island . It was supposed to be a south west protein bowl, there was nothing south west about it, I ate the only thing that would be considered to go in such a salad, a little avocado. Definitely a cool spot to hang out or grab a casual bite. I tried the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich and my son had the Chicken Bacon Sandwich. Both were generously sized--definitely not skimping on portions! That said, they don't come with any sides, so just a heads up if you're expecting the usual fries-on-the-plate setup. Speaking of fries, we ordered the Parmesan Truffle Fries, and they were amazing. Crispy, flavorful, and the portion size was more than enough for three people to share comfortably. It was expensive (2 smash burgers, one large fry, two large drinks was $40) but totally worth it. For others who have never been here: there's plenty of parking, and when you go inside, you place your order, sit where they tell you to, you get your drinks, and someone brings your food out. No one will check on you as you dine. The chairs are comfy and the atmosphere is fun with mirrored walls and loud music. There were people of all ages including families. I took a walk down memory lane a few months ago after leaving Best Buy to explore what used to be Grub. However, from the exterior, the outdoor seating appeared the same, though upper sign and neon light near the entrance didn't read "Grub," it was still the same font. I said to myself that there had to be a little Grub left in this place! And upon my visit over the weekend, I discovered there was! Apparently, Grub and Hopdoddy merged some time ago after 2020. Well, it was good to be back and still felt the new and the former during my visit. Basically, the interior looks the same. Same types of varies seating, mostly wooden chairs but the booths do have cushions. The large bar in the center seems to be the highlight of this burger outlet still. And Hopdoddy is NOT a fast food facility. They clearly make speciality burgers and sides across the board - stay in and enjoy it! On most of the burgers (chicken and beef), you can turn them into a bowl style. There will be no bun, but you'll have the patty on top of a kale/slaw combo with dressing already on it. I will note that my "thunderbird" chicken bowl cost $2 extra - as it probably does on the other burger choices as well. But I found it very appealing - it was also less calories, especially since we ordered the monster-sized loaded nacho style fries!! You MUST get these on your visit! Solidly Mexican style with avocados, pica de gallo, sour cream, with perfectly balanced spicing! I could also tell the fries were made correctly (not left hanging on a rack after removal from the fryer) as they were not overly greasy. We also got the doddy melt. It came with two perfectly cooked burgers on rye bread, Swiss and American cheese, caramelized onions, mayo and their special sauce. I would order this one again anytime, as I would the thunderbird. As for service, I found it pedestrian, but not up to the enthusiasm I like to experience at restaurants. That is, they did their job pretty well overall, but were not as conversant as I would like to have seen - just appeared a little distant. But I want to add that none of them I interacted with were disrespectful. I really enjoyed my visit here this time around. It will even be on my list for another visit when I'm in the area if I get the craving. It did feel a little like a few years ago for me, but I still like it with the new name too! The ordering process is quick serve, where you order your food at a counter and then the meal is brought to your table. Everything with the ordering process went well, and food was brought out in just a few minutes. I had the Classic with cheese which despite the advertising claims of being some higher quality of meat tasted and felt like the standard pre-made burger heated up. The sweet potato fries were way over salted, taking away most of the natural sweetness. Overall, the burger itself was not much better than a standard B.K Whopper, though this meal of a burger, fries and a drink comes at a cost of about $25. If I'm in the area again looking for a basic burger in a comfortable and clean environment, I may be back. I came in yesterday with my family since I had been craving a burger. It was rather empty so we just grabbed a table. There were folks at the bar drinking and watching football. Another family eating already and a couple of dates. It seems this place is good for all sorts of occasions. Ordering is done at the cashier and is straight forward. We ordered truffle fries, a classic burger, and the goodnight/good cause. The truffle fries were thin cut but very tasty. They come with their own sauce which is very delicious. You can also grab your own ketchup, chipotle ketchup, honey mustard, or caffeine BBQ. All the sauces are decent but the best was the one that came with the truffle fries. Our burgers were alright. I'd say out of all the burgers I've had this falls somewhere above average. After we ate, we didn't spend too much more time. Music is semi-loud, and the games on TV provide something to watch, but if you aren't drinking I wouldn't stay too long. Parking is plentiful and I didn't use the restroom so cannot comment on the cleanliness. All in all it is okay. read more

We made our return to Hopdoddy! As per usual, the food was amazing. They have a few new burgers, one of which my husband fried which was the double smash burger. He said it had to have been one of the best smash burgers he's had here in Jax. The service was great and the food was better. I ordered the bacon jam burger and inhaled it! We ordered the jalapeño queso fries as well as the sage honey fries and they were amazingly delicious. The sage honey fries were probably my most favorite of the two though. I highly recommend for a delicious burger. They also have some new cocktails on the menu which I cannot wait to go back and try. Overall, the ambiance was nice as they had sports playing on all tvs and it was perfect for the social lunch date we had with my aunt and uncle. Unfortunately, the only disappointing thing was that the soda machine was out of order and all thy had was tea and some other type of natural soda I believe.
