I have had THREE TERRIBLE experiences at Shakila's.
First experience: I went in for threading, eyebrow tinting and eyelash tinting, all of which I had never had before. First, the threading-she didn't do the shape I requested and made them way too thin. Second, the eyebrow tinting-I am a natural redhead and she mixed 3 colors and this actually came out ok. Third-the eyelash tinting-I requested the blackest black in hopes that I wouldn't have to wear mascara-I even showed her a picture of me with black mascara. She said it would be way too dark but we could start with medium brown and she could make them darker if I wanted. Trusting her professional opinion, I agreed with slight reluctance. After 10 minutes, she wipes off the dye and you couldn't tell at all, so she does the MEDIUM brown AGAIN...10 more minutes and SAME THING. At this point, we didn't have time before her next appointment so she said I could come back and she would do them the blackest for free. I was over it at that point and just paid and left.
Second experience-this time I just went in for threading and eyebrow tinting. AGAIN-threads then too thin and not the shape I request. She also says we dyed too dark last time (despite that I was actually happy with the color last time) and she just mixes 2 colors this time for a lighter brown, again despite my request for her to do the same color as last time. AGAIN-didn't come out the way I wanted and would have to come back. After this experience, I thought I was done with her services. However, when my too-light eyebrows were completely faded only 2 weeks later, I called and asked if she could re-do them with the same color she did the first time as a courtesy since she didn't do this the second time as I requested, and she agreed...
Mistake # THREE-first off, she either double-booked my appointment time or ran late. I come in and she had another customer behind her curtain so she comes out to do my eyebrows in the open front of the salon, which isn't a big deal but didn't help my experience. She procedes to tint my eyebrows, supposedly using the mixture of 3 colors. For the third time, she doesn't do the right shape nor are my eyebrows even, so I basically took over at this point. She literally left me with the dye and returned to her previous customer! So I spend the next 10 minutes dying my own eyebrows (which I've never done before!) in the front of the salon for everyone to see. I finally finish and she comes out to take off the dye. I tell her I just finished fixing them and she says "ok, a few more minutes". THIS IS WHERE SHE SHOULD HAVE TOLD ME THAT IF I LEAVE THE COLOR ON ANY LONGER, I WOULD HAVE BLACK EYEBROWS. She returns to previous customer again and TEN minutes later I ask her to come remove the dye. She comes out and says "Oh, too dark!". She wipes them and I still have BLACK eyebrows. She comes back with something else on a paper towel and tries to remove it that way. This stuff BURNED, I told her that and she said "We have to or it won't come off". So I left the salon with BLACK EYEBROWS AND RED, RAW CHEMICAL-BURNED SKIN.
All that said, I have no idea how she has 4 star reviews from 3 other customers. Great for them but I've learned my lesson and will NEVER be returning for her services! read more
