Do not go here unless you order online and let them tell you how long you are going to wait BEFORE you walk in the door. The fries are bland, the chips are good if you get the dipping sauce, onions are pretty good too the batter is light and airy that they are dipped in before getting fried. I really do believe that a bad review is doing a favor to a business. Otherwise, how would they know that they need to improve? I'm writing this review to hopefully alert the franchise that their quality has dropped so drastically that I won't be returning, and I can't be the only one who feels this way. My Oreo mint milkshake was made with such cheap ingredients that I didn't finish it. And when someone doesn't want to finish a milkshake, there's definitely something wrong. My chili cheese tater tots were the same quality that you would get in a movie theater. Fake nacho cheese sauce, mediocre chili... Tater tots were tater tots. The portion was tiny and the price was ridiculous for what I got. I've eaten here before, and the burgers are very good. The fries are fine. Onion rings are still great. But for what way back is charging, it's just not worth it anymore. Just ordered and they charged us for 2 milkshakes and we never got any. Honestly very upset :(

First, the food is excellent. The burger is moister and tastier than Five Guys, and there are a number of specialty sandwiches to choose from. The menu is larger than Stratford with the full slate of options. Second, the staff is green. They only opened a few days ago, so the team is just getting to know each other and their procedures. They work hard and there are plenty of bodies working to keep up with orders. But there are still a number of bumps in the road. (They added chicken to my plain salad, then removed it by hand. Ick.) This is the area that I expect to improve quickly and thus my rating to improve. Third, the site is fairly tiny for the traffic they are getting. This is probably inevitable as Wayback Burger is primarily known for take-out traffic. But on a Sunday afternoon - not the busiest time - every inch of the customer area was filled with people ordering, eating, or waiting for their food. Not an issue if you order ahead, but be aware it will be cramped if you plan to order there or eat there. Overall, I am still a fan. And things will improve quickly as they iron out the problems with a mostly neophyte staff. We had tried a Wayback burger in another location, and it was delicious. We were in Ansonia and decided to try the one on Pershing Drive, and the burger was awful! We watched the young man at the grill, and he was not just pressing the meat on the grill to flatten and sear the edges, he kept pressing until there was absolutely no juice left in the meat. It was a hockey puck! I had a lot of toppings on mine, making it moist enough to eat, but my husband's was inedible and he threw most of it out. It's hard to give this 3 stars when you can buy burgers at fast food places down the road for the same price and these are actually well made, tasty, real burgers. Our experience occurred at 7:30 in the evening. Every employee we dealt with was alert and accommodating. I believe the management of the location needs to step up. The 5 employees on duty were all busy preparing food, but no one was in charge of keeping the restaurant clean. There were bits of paper debris on the floor as well as dropped french fries. I had to pick up 4 ketchup bottles before I found one containing any ketchup. They were all empty. Of course, we had to bus our own table, but we had to guess where to leave the trays. Now on to the food. $2.99 for a hot dog is a little high, but my wife admits it tasted great! She also sampled the Philly Burger, a single burger with cheese, sautéd mushrooms and onions. This was pretty good, but it cost close to $7.00! I had the Cheeeesy Burger. Although the burger was good, the toasted bun was very greasy. We also had the "orange creamsicle" milk shake. My wife could tell it was made with powder. I tasted a vanilla-like flavor, but no orange. We've had better. To conclude, for the items that are offered, they are way too expensive and we would have to be pretty hard up for food to come back here again. My husband was just there. It is the only one around but I tell you, what a bunch of screw ups. Every time we go there we order online. Nothing out of the ordinary and every time they screw up. I ask for oil and vinegar on the side and they either don't give it to you or they put it on the sandwich and make it soggy. I ask for a side of pickles and I never get them. Got my Tree at Jones Farm. Stopped here with two carloads of family on a snowy day. We dropped a 8 person order on them and got our food in no time. They brought it out to the table, hot, fresh, tasty. Clean bathrooms with a little privacy. Very clean and efficient. Patient with multiple families. First thing noticed is the young people work here at least don't ACT like they hate their jobs. This is my first time at a Wayback Burgers and it did not disappoint. My husband and I enjoyed our food immensely. I ordered the Double Bacon (single) signature burger with O-rings and a Pepsi. Instead of ketchup and mustard, I substituted them for the signature Wayback Gold Sauce. It was delicious! The burger was perfectly brown and very juicy, the onion rings were crispy and sweet and beer-battered, and the fries tasted like they were made in my mom's kitchen. My husband ordered the Chipotle Burger (extra dry) with the House-Made Chips. He thought his burger was phenomenal! It was just the right mix of sauce and toppings with a savory burger that had a hint of moistness like he prefers. The Home-Made Chips were really good but a little on the bland side. My order went in at 7:12pm and I did not receive until 7:40 because the girl who was rude to the young lady said " oh I did not see that order"!!!!!
