My first time here and it was definitely a home run for me !!! My Double Bacon burger was hot, delicious and made exactly to order . My boyfriend's Bacon Bourbon burger looked amazing but and he said it was tasty too . The fries were hot and yummy but standard fries but the bacon cheese fries were awesome !! The staff was courteous, helpful and were very friendly. They showed such hustle getting the orders out and you can see they take pride in the food they're sending out to customers. My boyfriend and I are big music fans ( especially metal and rock ) and kudos to the gatekeeper of the tunes - it was great to hear classics like Ozzy , Van Halen ,Tom Petty etc . This location is a disappointment. It's a disappointment because I LOVE their burgers and they are conveniently .25 miles from my house. The problems are: Their app rarely, if ever, works. (It has never allowed orders when I've tried.) Can't place orders through their website. Have to call with orders, which is fine, but a 40 minute wait?? Once you arrive, everything is already sitting on a counter ready for pick up. How long has it been there? No idea. Was told 40 minutes, showed up in 40 minutes, and it was already there. Too expensive for cold burgers and fries. When I arrived, there were 7 people in line waiting to place their orders at the register. Some had no idea what they wanted. Those of us who have already placed our orders and just need to pay, have to wait in the same line. If the burgers weren't cold before, they sure are now. There should be a line for taking orders and a line for accepting payments for those who ordered in advanced. Just not worth the price for cold food and terrible service. We attended a volleyball tournament at the university. There was no concession stand for the event. There was less than an hour between matches. We headed to Wayback around noon to grab lunch. their hours online say they are open until 9, but if you go in at 8pm they tell you they're closed and won't serve you, even though the open sign is on And theres many people inside eating. they removed the hours from the front of the store too. This is the best Wayback Burgers I have ever dined at. The staff was friendly and attentive. The burger I had was fantastic. I did a double burger with cheddar cheese, plus mayo and ketchup. I may have found my new favorite burger here. The fries were excellent as always. We also tried a salted caramel shake. It was really good, and I'll be back just for that, sometime. In addition, we each got fountain beverages. I don't know their mix ratio, but it was one of the best Barq's root beers I've had out of a fountain, ever. They still do everything take-out style with paper bags, but that's probably easier to avoid a lot of extra cleaning. Two of us ordered large fries, one ordered regular size. I went here for lunch today because I had a coupon from Clipp for free fries and drink with the purchase of a burger. The burger was juicy and had a good ratio of meat to toppings; one of the best I have had recently. The fries were also very good, crispy and not too salty. Overall a good experience. This is basically a five guys in most senses. Same type of menu with minor differences. They have more appetizers and sides that are available. The fried mac and cheese bites were good. The burgers were good but nothing special. The bacon I got on mine was under cooked and not very good. They offer some good sauces to go on the burgers which is another benefit compared to five guys.. The fries are decent but not as good as five guys. My husband and I decided to try this on Saturday because we're looking for a cheaper alternative to five guys. Their service was quick, the staff was polite and the food was great. Everything was fresh and delicious. Honestly, the flavor/seasoning isn't as good as five guys but for the price difference it was worth it! We've been to Wayback multiple times. We really do love everything on the menu and prefer Wayback over 5 Guys in every single way. My only complaint is that they are not super accommodating if something goes wrong. For example, we placed an online order an hour before our desired pick up time of 6:15. We arrived for pick up at 6:10. Our food wasn't ready until 6:45, 30 minutes after the time it was supposed to be ready. I asked if I could have ONE additional sauce since the food was 30 minutes late. I was told no, any additional sauce would be a 0.75 up charge. I felt the need to write this review because of how nice and polite the workers are at the Millervilles location. I have gone twice with my girlfriend to eat there and they go above and beyond to make sure your order has everything in it, and they are genuinely very pleasant. Also, the food is amazing for the price! The burgers are really good, the fries were too, and the milkshakes I got were delicious. Eh, it was pretty mediocre and the order came out wrong. I stopped for a quick lunch on a weekday. It was pretty busy, but there were a few tables open. The space is pretty creative in the fact that they have barstools and chairs in a lot of areas to maximize the number of people that can sit. I chose the veggie burger, which comes with lettuce and tomato, and I added some additional toppings. I opted for just the burger and the total came to $5. The burger came out a few minutes later missing the lettuce and tomato. When I mentioned it, the runner ran back and made it correctly. The veggie burger was ok, but had a lot of breading and was really greasy. Not the best, but also not the worst veggie burger I've ever had. Found this place on a lark while my husband was out doing deliveries. Tried it and have absolutely fallen in love. The burgers are delicious and always labeled for easy distribution. I'm disappointed to be giving this Wayback location a 1 star review. 1. My girlfriend is vegetarian and ordered the veggie burger. Her burger came out with a beef patty and mine came out with the veggie patty. So either they swapped patties or ingredients. 2. She asked for grilled onions and got raw. 3. When returning our orders the staff wasn't apologetic and seemed more bothered than anything. One staff member commented to just swap the patties and ignored some of the ingredients weren't even correct. The manager cowardly watched this occur. We returned to our seats in hopes our orders would be righted by the staff. They in fact swapped the patties. It was obvious the juices from my beef patty were all over my girlfriends veggie burger. I'd heard good things about Wayback so I gave them a try. Not sure if I'll be going back but I'm also not sure I got the right thing to really appreciate what they have to offer. Burger place or not, the turkey burger is never going to be their key menu item. You can tell they didn't put a ton of time into theirs. The turkey burger had a pretty small meat portion where you'll wonder if it was worth the price. I enjoyed the fries. They were traditional but done well beyond that. My friend got the chicken sandwich. The chicken was very flat but a fair bit bigger than the bun. While the turkey burger was formed, the chicken patty looked like an actual sliced portion of the breast. The ambiance was pleasant and it felt comfortable sitting there for a while as we ate. It's a little bit unfair, but every time I eat at Wayback Burgers, I'm reminded of Five Guys. It's dominantly a burger joint, making burgers that are a step or two above fast food (without quite reaching a "premium" or "artisan" level of burger-craft), with fries, and scattered other things on the menu. Unfortunately for Wayback, a competition against Five Guys isn't one they'll win. As with Five Guys, you order your burger, then can add any number of toppings from a lengthy list. Unlike Five Guys, however, you have multiple options for your base burger to help guide you into something you'll enjoy. (I always get the Southwest Chipotle.) While Wayback offers combos ($3 for side fry and regular drink, $4 for full fry and regular drink, and $5 for side fry and milkshake, I THINK), it's a bit hard to feel like you're getting a super-duper deal with the combos. By the time you get your burger and throw on a combo, you're looking at a $10+ meal. (My burger was $6.19 + $3.99 for the full fry combo. After tax that's $10.79.) The good news for Wayback is that ends up being a few bucks less than Five Guys. But once a meal eclipses the $10 mark, I care less about a couple dollar difference, and more about what I'm getting with my over $10 meal. And your over-$10-meal at Five Guys is so much more than at Wayback. The burgers are smaller, and while you never feel like they're skimping on toppings, they don't smash oodles of them on your burger like they do at Five Guys. And while the buns for a burger aren't the most crucial aspect, it's still important, and Wayback's buns are light, fluffy, and remind me of something I could get cheap at the grocery store. However, the biggest difference between the two places is in the fries. While I like Wayback's fries, they're so far below Five Guys' that it isn't even funny. Both in terms of quantity, quality, and the addicting "cajun style" that Five Guys offers. Five Guys's fries are more expensive (and is probably where the price difference between the two places really comes into play), but as cliche as it sounds, the price difference is worth it. Ultimately I still rate Wayback well for several key factors: 1. Despite being a less-than Five Guys experience, I still end up enjoying my food and leave feeling pretty good about the experience. 2. Wayback is closer than Five Guys. I'm rarely sitting around debating what burger joint I'm going to eat at. I'm sitting around thinking "I'm hungry, where can I get food nearby?" and Wayback wins the back-and-forth commute pretty handily. 3. Wayback has a rewards program. I'm a sucker for rewards programs because I like earning frequent visitor perks. The Millersville Wayback location is clean and still feels new. Which isn't surprising since they only opened last year. The interior matches the corporate standards (not that I know what those standards are, but if you've been in a Wayback location before, you'll know what to expect from the faintly-50s burger joint vibe going on). There's a TV along the far wall (usually set to ESPN), although I think the volume is muted; it's not a noisy restaurant. Ordered for a group of 5. Even though the menu states pick-up time 11:00 AM to ... To me that means I can call in my order before 11:00 to pick it up at 11:00.. With that being said I called in at 10:30 AM and someone actually picked up the phone. Very friendly very accommodating I was told I can pick up my food at 11:15AM. I am good with that. I also very much appreciated the friendly voice taking my order. You do not get that much anymore. We had Philly Burger with Mushrooms, Bacon Cheeseburger, Triple/triple burger (9) paddies.. A lot of meat!! Burgers well prepared. Chilly fries. Cheese fries. Irish Nachos and onion rings. All of it good. Side note none of the food came in styrofoam containers. We received our food about 20-30 minutes later and it was good! The chili cheese fries were better than expected. Unfortunately, the gentleman taking the orders should not have been. He didn't have much of a personality to be in a role that dealt with the public. He was also in charge of making the milkshakes which I regrettably ordered. Regrettably because it took 45!! Minutes for me to receive it. Again, busy night means longer wait times but if you cannot keep up with the demand then you need to tell customers that they are not available or ask your team for help. My partner had gone up to ask how much longer it was going to be and the gentleman said nothing and turned around to start making it!! With Five Guys, Fuddruckers and a soon-to-be Shake Shack being about the same distance for us, we will most likely choose those options over Wayback in the future. read more
