Notice how you have to walk through the cars (that would be there) to get to the door? Who designed this?
    Nobuyuki S.

I was staying at the Red Roof Inn motel just east of Hardee's, so this was an easy walk. However, I had to walk across the drive-thru area where people order, which could be difficult if they had been busy. They apparently have another entrance, but why design it that way at all? There was only one other customer in the store when I arrived and the woman at the register was telling her some mix and match deals. I don't really remember because I have a migraine headache at the moment. I ordered a (small) cheeseburger, which is something I only recently realized that they had available, with fries and a drink. Is $3.99 for the combo expensive? I remember ordering a double cheeseburger meal for the same price at Burger King and they're usually expensive. This tasted better and that's important to me. The WiFi was fast and free, which is good. The only downside was the loud (remember the migraine?) woman at the register saying "There you go, hun." or something else with "hun" in it every 2 or 3 minutes. I'm not Hungarian! Tables seemed clean, which is a bonus and the drink area was not messy.

I love Hardee's but one just shouldn't expect the food to live up to its billing. For example, on a recent visit, I tried the El Diablo Thickburger but contrary to the name, it barely registered on the heat scale. So go in with average or lower expectation and it'll be fine. Anyway, this location is conveniently close to US-30 and access is easy. Getting back to US-30 afterwards though was a bit weird because of the no-left-turn signs, but I somehow got back out after some U-turns. Wi-Fi was decently fast and free, and service was good for a fast food place.

For such a busy weekend spot, they always manage to seat fairly quickly. I've never been here and received bad service, so that's always been a win. My favorite go to is the chicken fried chicken platter with mashed potatoes and white gravy, broccoli. The place always looks like it's full of locals who add to the laidback atmosphere.

The restaurant was fairly busy for a Monday at 1:15PM, so to my surprise my order came out pretty quickly. My order was bagged and tied together, so I cloud not check my order without ripping the entire plastic bag. There were two standard to-go containers inside the bag, NOT the standard long full-length container a full rack is served in when placing a to-go order. I order the full rack of ribs to-go all the time at Cheddars, and they are served in the long full-rack box. When I got home and to my surprise I was given two separate rib halves. Neither were the same size, (both were upper ends), not an entire complete rack of ribs. Looking at the ribs, each upper end was different in size, and each had a different appearance and texture. I tasted each half-rack, and yes hey came from different racks as each had a different taste, dried-out texture, and not even luke-warm to the touch. These ribs were not freshly made that day. I'm positive these rib halves were old ribs, at least a day or more old, and somewhat reheated, barely. I live 2-miles from Cheddar's, I's a straight shot, 5-minute drive at best. The food should not be cold driving that distance. I used to go to Cheddar's all the time, but quit going there about six-plus months ago because the food quality was going downhill, but decided to give it another try, I WAS WRONG... The BC Wrappers were editable, barely warm, but just thrown together, not neatly wrapped and fell apart trying to get one out of the box. In-total I wasted $37.00 on this meal at Cheddar's in York, PA. The ribs were thrown away, and the BC Wrapper was half-eaten. Seriously, the kitchen staff working Monday, May 5, 2026, has NO pride in the quality of food being served out of that kitchen. They should fire them all! I'm so glad that I listened to my reasoning and didn't listen to the other reviews. Let's get this straight, if you are looking for "INSTA-FAMOUS" location and food presentation, this is NOT your place. The decor is actually something that made me giggle a little bit. 1980's style moulded booths (not fluffy friendly) about 6 on each side of the restaurant. A couple of plastic tables in the middle of the restaurant for large groups or "fluffy people" like myself. Dark red paint on the wall with only 1 piece of artwork, a sign that reads "We have no wifi, pretend it is 1995 and talk to people". (this endeared me most). A wood paneled counter for ordering. A lit up menu above the counter. A make shift utensil and seasonings table. An old trash can. and on this particular day 100's of boxes being made around us (impressively so). The picture I am painting is a 1980's pizza joint. And it really is exactly that, with perhaps the exception of instead of Ms. PacMan at the front, they have 4 gambling machines. To this Gen Xer, I found this refreshing and a true blast from the past. Another relic from the past is their staff. They still hire teenagers. This is both a great thing (teenagers need to work!) and a bad thing as the girls were LOUD and not particularly good at customer service. The adult supervising them was possibly reliving his youth in his ability to play with them. (it wasn't creepy, but, it was kind of sad), instead of managing them and showing them how to provide customer service. But, no one was nasty. Everyone was having a good time. And they got the job done. I ordered an italian boli and I asked for them to add mushrooms to it. They looked at me funny, but, eventually let me get them. My husband ordered an italian cold cut sub, we both ordered 2 large fountain sodas (as per 1980s decor, they came in styrofoam cups). The sub came out almost instantly, which is great if you are looking to eat and leave, but, we were hoping to sit and dine together. So, the nice warm bread, did eventually become cold as we waited or my Boli. The presentation of the sub was good, the meat was piled up well beyond the bread, the lettuce was niceley shredded, the tomato diced, and the oil and vinegar were the perfect mix. My boli arrived about 10 minutes later, just as I had ordered. For size purposes, I would say it was a medium pizza folded over. and sliced into three huge slices. For a small, it was definitely too big for one person to eat in one sitting. It was SOOOOOO cheesy and delicious. The crust was pillowy yet chewy, the cheese was ooey gooey, the meat was not too much, not too little and they did give me as I requested the mushrooms (fresh, not canned). This was delicious in itself, but, man...the sauce.....oh the sauce....it was so sweet and delicous and tasted like summer tomatoes off the vine. Not too thick...not too thin...the pillowy crust of the boli absorbed it perfectly, and together....it made heaven! At the end of the meal you are expected to clean up after yourself (just like any other 1980's pizza joint) and they were nice enough to ask us if we wanted refills on our cokes before we left. Over all: Ambience--I'd say it is a solid 2/5. If you are looking for a perfect date night where eveything is romantic, this isn't the place, unless you met at a 1980's pizza joint and then I think it would be crazy romantic. It's also quite loud just with the staff bantering about. Service: 4/5. They did what they were supposed to do and really nothing more. But, they did do what they were supposed to do. Food: I'm giving this a 5/5! It's hearty. It's well done. It's tasty. I left with left overs. (which after 2 nights in the fridge were still delicious when I reheated them) Cost: A perfect end of the non-pay week treat. Reasonable and hearty. We paid about $30 for our meal, which was ample.

Whether you're hitting the location on Loucks Road or the rebuilt spot on Haines Road, it's fast, consistently high quality, and they never skimp on the portions. From a Virginia Takeout to York, PA. What makes eating here even cooler is knowing the brand's great origin story. It started back in 1986 in Arlington, Virginia, when Jerry and Janie Murrell gave their sons a choice: "Start a business or go to college." The business route won, and the original "Five Guys" (Jerry and his four eldest sons--later shifting to mean the five brothers after the youngest was born) opened a tiny, no-seating burger joint. Their simple formula of hand-formed burgers and fresh-cut fries cooked in pure peanut oil gained a massive cult following. Fast forward through their franchising boom, and they finally brought that legendary DC-area blueprint to York, cementing it as a local fast-casual staple. If you want the definitive Five Guys experience, here is exactly what to order: Bacon Cheeseburger: This is a masterclass in backyard-style burger execution. The two fresh, hand-formed patties are perfectly seared and juicy, layered with melted American cheese and a generous amount of crispy, smoky applewood bacon. The best part is the customizable toppings--getting it "All the Way" (mayo, lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, ketchup, and mustard) gives you that perfect, messy, flavor-packed bite. Cajun Fries: You can't leave without a brown paper bag stained with peanut oil. Their fresh-cut boardwalk fries are incredible on their own, but throwing on the Cajun seasoning takes them to the next level. They are crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and packed with a spicy, smoky, salty kick that builds with every bite. Plus, their "extra scoop" in the bag means you get enough fries to feed an army. It's easily one of the best spots in the area for a quick, massive, and entirely satisfying burger fix.
